Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”Let’s eat first. Hong Lin, can you take some time off tomorrow noon?”

”Sure, I’ll have Lihong take leave for me.”

”Okay, I have two important meetings in the morning, and Fengzhen, Mom and the others are coming to see you tomorrow.”

This made Lu Fengzhen excited. She unconsciously ate half a bowl more of millet porridge.

Li Yunqiao had noticed. This little wife was just missing her family. Easy, let the mother-in-law stay over for a while.

That night Li Yunqiao hugged his wife, ”Mom originally wanted to come with me today. Big Brother said he’d be coming over tomorrow. So Mom decided to come tomorrow.”

Lu Fengzhen kissed Li Yunqiao on the lips, ”Thank you for being so good to me.”

”That’s good enough? How about this?”

After a passionate kiss, Lu Fengzhen sweetly wrapped her arms around Li Yunqiao’s neck.

”Lihong told me she wants to send Zhibin to kindergarten.”

”He’s a bit young. If needed, I’ll go find someone tomorrow.”

”Let’s wait until my mom and brother’s family arrive.” Unfamiliar people made Lu Fengzhen uncomfortable.

”Alright, as you say, I’ll listen to you about everything.”

”Really?”

”Yes. Don’t I always listen to you?”

”I feel so lucky. I really do.”

Li Yunqiao hugged Lu Fengzhen tightly; he just loved his little wife like this. It made him feel especially fulfilled.

At four the next morning, the Lu Family set off.

The whole family filled a big vehicle completely. There was also a bag of white flour, a bag of cornmeal.

Various beans, peanuts, pickled vegetables, and soybean paste, quite a lot too.

The Third family was a bit unhappy because their mother-in-law didn’t bring their daughter along. But they knew the decision hasn’t been made yet.

By six thirty, they arrived in the city. The Li Family had just gotten up at this time. Zheng Lihong was cooking breakfast in the kitchen.

Upon hearing noises outside. Li Yunqiao and Hong Lin both went out.

Lu Fengzhen was happy enough to go out too.

Aunt Wang saw her daughter coming out, looking similar to her granddaughter. She’s living her life happily.

”Mom.” Lu Fengzhen hugged Aunt Wang.

”My daughter is so beautiful now.”

Li Yunqiao and Hong Lin greeted the Lu Family.

Lu Fengzhen had to greet her brother and sister-in-law before going inside.

Hong Lin went back inside to get the thermos and went out to buy breakfast. Zheng Lihong continued cooking.

Breakfast was decent, they bought five pounds of fried dough sticks. And a thermos of soy milk.

After breakfast, those who needed to go to work left for work. Aunt Wang also told Hong Lin to go to work.

”Later let Lu take me to the hospital, that’s enough.”

Now only the Lu Family was left in the house. Watching the youngest sister-in-law grow more radiant, the sisters-in-law were all envious.

It’s fate; cannot deny it. See how their current life is?

”Fifth one, let Lu take you to the hospital.” Aunt Wang was still quite worried about this sister.

”Big sister, it’s nothing serious, just too tired.”

”Aunt Fifth, you need to get checked at the hospital, I’ll go along, my mom should also go.”

”What am I getting checked for? I’m not going; I’m most uncomfortable with hospitals. Going there when not sick or injured is unlucky.

But Fifth, you must get checked. You don’t seem as energetic as me.”

Eventually, it was the two brothers who took the two old ladies to the hospital.

They went straight to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. At this age, how could there be no health issues, but they’re minor, and will improve gradually with care.

Now Lu Fengzhen felt relieved.

Back home, they decided to make dumplings, convenient as there were many people to work, and the Lu Family planned to leave after the meal.

”Big Sister, find someone else for Fengzhen, I’m going back home.”

”Alright, Fengzhen, your Aunt Fifth is homesick, is it alright for Chunhong to come over and take care of you?”

”Chunhong?”

Third Sister-in-law Lu immediately chimed in, ”Yes, Chunhong is capable, Fengzhen, you have experience now. Let her do the work.

Fengzhen, Chunhong is already fifteen. I thought of letting her stay here for a while; it’ll be good if she can find a husband here; if not, it’s easier back home.”

Third Sister-in-law Lu decided to speak honestly since there are no fools in the house. It’s best to be upfront with her little thoughts.

Lu Chunhong bears a strong resemblance to Lu Fengzhen, a rare beauty.

But Lu Fengzhen didn’t quite like her; the child was unstable, quite reckless.

Yet she didn’t refuse, after all, she’s her own niece; Third Sister-in-law’s intentions were understandable.

”Fifth, I’ll stay here for a few days. Will you stay a bit longer too?”

”No, I’m leaving with Lu today; I can’t wait to go back.”

The men watched the two boys. The women made dumplings.

Having made the decision, it felt more relieving; Li Yunqiao finished his two morning meetings by eleven.

He hurried back home. His mother-in-law’s family was here today, he must not appear inadequate.

Upon returning, the dumplings were already made, waiting for Hong Lin and his wife to come back.

Li Yunqiao knew that Wang Wugu’s health issue wasn’t serious, just age-related. He felt reassured.

However, he was less willing for his wife’s niece to come over; she’s still a child. But his wife didn’t object, so he accepted it, although he set the terms upfront.

”Third Sister-in-law, Chunhong comes, we still pay her; we can’t have the girl work for free.”

That made Third Sister-in-law even more satisfied. Earning money is naturally better; her father’s suggestion is right—it’s for the girl.

Li Yunqiao took the afternoon off from work. Waiting to see off his brother-in-law’s family.

He additionally gave Aunt Wang fifty yuan. ”Aunt Fifth. Thank you for taking care of Fengzhen for over a year. I’m busy at work, without you, Fengzhen might have suffered.”

The Lu Family was very pleased with Li Yunqiao’s demeanor. This concerned feelings.

Lu said they would bring Chunhong over tomorrow.

Aunt Wang stayed over. At lunchtime, the wife ate a bowl of dumplings, didn’t vomit in the afternoon; Li Yunqiao was amused, it’s just she misses her family. In the afternoon, he’d take care of the son and grandson, giving them mother-daughter time.

”Fengzhen, this is really quite good.”

”Yes, I think so too. Now Hongpeng is older, having another isn’t bad either.”

”Another daughter, having both a son and a daughter.”

”Hehe, I also want a daughter. Li Xue went out, got married, and is pregnant now. If I have another daughter, Li Yunqiao would be thrilled.

Actually, he initially hoped Hongpeng was a daughter. He likes girls.”

”Hmm. It’s good no matter what child, as long as you both go smoothly.

Chunhong comes over, say what needs to be said. Your Third Sister-in-law is straightforward; honestly, who interested in a rural girl without a primary school diploma here?”

”It’s just a year, then let Zhibin and Hongpeng both go to Red Education Class, I’ll manage the little one at home.”
