The Broken Halo

Simon was not gentle in the slightest when he kicked Lucien, and the Frostborn prodigy could not hide the pain he felt.

He sprung up like a cat and immediately cursed at Simon.

“What the fuck?!”

His icy blue glass eyes glared at Simon, and at the same time, he was holding his buttocks.

Simon clicked his tongue, then he glanced down at Lucien’s buttocks.

“You’re screaming from such a gentle kick? You’re so weak.”

A vein popped in Lucien’s temple, and his lips twitched violently.

He so much wanted to kill Simon.

Simon gestured at First Blade who had a curious expression.

Lucien looked at the old demon.

“We have to find a way to kill him or he’s going to kill us… well, you actually. As for me, I don’t know what plans he has for me, but I’m very certain that it’s not for me to become his disciple.”

Lucien and First Blade’s expression darkened.

First Blade’s expression darkened because he didn’t expect Simon to be so cautious and suspicious of him.

As for Lucien, his expression darkened because he was put in this terrible situation by none other than Simon.

He looked at Simon with extremely cold eyes, then he looked back at First Blade.

“My name is Lucien Mercer of House Mercer, the young master of House Mercer. I just woke up, so I don’t know much about what’s going on. But I promise you that if you let me go, I and House Mercer would reward you exceedingly.”

Simon gave Lucien a strange look, and even First Blade could not help but do the same.

“And why do you think I’ll let you go after knowing that I killed those five ants?”

Lucien froze.

“That-”

He tried saying something but nothing came to his mind.

First Blade scoffed with a slight shake of his head.

“And why would you ever think that I’ll trust you? I should believe that your father and mother who are Demon Lords would spare my life?”

Lucien became tongue tied, and there was nothing he could say.

Pat

Pat

Simon patted his shoulder, and Lucien looked at him.

“We’re in this together, Lucien Mercer.” Simon said with a gentle smile.

Veins popped up on Lucien’s forehead, and he shouted in anger.

“Together my fucking ass!”

He slapped Simon’s hand away.

“I would not be in this situation if not for you!”

Simon nonchalantly shrugged.

“Well, you are now. Forget about the past, focus on the present, and think of surviving from now on.”

Lucien gritted his teeth and the temperature around him became colder. Even Simon felt the effect of Lucien’s anger.

“Survive? You’re talking about survival when a Supreme Greater Demon is right in front of us?”

Simon blinked, then he nodded seriously.

“Of course. Why won’t I? Don’t you have an artifact or something that can deal with a Supreme Greater Demon?”

Lucien’s expression became colder.

“You destroyed them.”

Simon tilted his head slightly. “Them?”

Lucien’s left eye twitched.

“Elder Mulon and my father’s ice puppet.”

“Oh… That’s what you mean.” Simon said indifferently.

He then looked at First Blade who was staring at the two of them like they were clowns meant for amusement.

He was not bothered in the slightest, and he wanted to see what these two fools could hope to do against him.

’Maybe if I show him my power and show him the unfathomable gap between us, he’ll be more respectful and more willing to become my disciple.’

While First Blade had this thought, Simon looked at Lucien and asked once again.

“So, you really do not have an artifact or something that your father or mother gave you that can help us in this situation?”

Lucien’s lips twitched once again.

“I do not.”

Simon placed his hands on his waist and released a deep sigh.

“That’s quite surprising and disappointing. Of what use do you have to me in this situation then? I shouldn’t have woken you up.”

He glanced at Lucien.

“Maybe I should you back to sleep?”

Lucien felt a chill across his spine despite his affinity with the ice element, and he could not help but take a step back out of fear.

He quickly waved his hands in front of him.

“It might be pointless, but don’t forget that if the two of us fight him together, we might find a way to win…”

Lucien paused, then he recalled something and his eyes flashed with hope.

“If you use that ability of yours that trapped me and allowed you to kill Elder Mulon, we might have a chance.”

This time around, First Blade had a curious expression the moment he heard this.

Meanwhile, Simon scoffed and shook his head.

“It was the power of a talisman, not me. I’m just a Fiend, don’t you think it’ll be absurd if I can do such a thing to a Greater Demon?”

Lucien frowned.

He wanted to say yes, but for some reason he didn’t completely believe Simon.

However, it made more sense that the reason why he was stuck in an illusion and why Elder Mulon was tricked was because of a talisman and not Simon’s abilities.

It would have been completely absurd if it was because of Simon’s abilities.

What Lucien did not know was that Simon was saying the truth and was also lying at the same time.

He fooled Elder Mulon using the Hollow Sky Eye.

But the dense fog and the illusion that trapped Lucien was the result of a very expensive talisman Simon bought in the academy not too long ago.

Unfortunately, he only had one.

’And using Hollow Sky Eye on that Elder drained quite a lot of my mental energy. First Blade is older and has more experience than Elder Mulon, which means that his mental defenses are stronger and more solid.’

’It’ll take a lot more mental energy and planning for Hollow Sky Eye to work on the First Blade compared to Elder Mulon.’

’I’ll need to use it at the right time.’

Simon released a frustrated sigh.

Lucien looked at Simon with slightly furrowed brows.

“Do you have a plan to survive this situation?” He asked.

Simon scratched the side of his head, then he released another frustrated sigh.

“Seems there’s no other choice then.”

Lucien and First Blade looked at Simon with a baffled expression.

But in the next moment, Simon put his hand inside his clothes and pretended to bring out Lucien’s spatial ring from his clothes.

Lucien’s gaze flickered, but his expression drastically changed the moment Simon brought out a beast pouch from his spatial ring.

A second later, the Winter Monkey was released from the beast pouch by Simon.
