Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1787: Chapter 1787: Divorced

The shopkeeper was also annoyed. He could understand once or twice, but more than that was just not knowing what’s good for oneself.

He wrote a letter informing the boss of the matter. The girl’s uncle replied instructing him to give another three hundred taels and then the matter would be considered completely resolved, and from then on, they would no longer have any dealings.

The shopkeeper followed the instructions, and when Chen Bing came again, he directly wrote a contract indicating that the favor was paid off.

Although Chen Bing was unwilling to let go of this big fish, he was just a person without power or influence and didn’t dare say anything. He ultimately bargained to a deal of three hundred and fifty taels.

From then on, along with the initial five hundred taels, Chen Bing had received a total of one thousand taels.

One thousand taels is a fortune that ordinary people would never earn in a lifetime.

Holding such a huge sum, Chen Bing started living his days extremely carefree.

Later, when Granny Fang’s health improved, she noticed that Chen Bing’s attitude towards her had become very perfunctory, and she finally sensed something was wrong.

But when she learned the whole truth, it was already too late. Chen Bing had used the silver to open a shop in the town.

The shop wasn’t big, but it was indeed making money.

Granny Fang confronted him with a big uproar, but Chen Bing showed no fear, citing Granny Fang’s childlessness as a reason, he wrote a letter of divorce to her.

Granny Fang’s temper was somewhat similar to Shu Yu’s family’s old lady, and she couldn’t tolerate such humiliation. She decided that if a man was like this, she wouldn’t want him. Yet, she was unwilling to accept that he extorted so much money using her reason and ended up benefitting from it.

She disagreed, as they had only been married for two years. According to Dasu’s law, they need to be childless for at least three years before he had the right to divorce.

Chen Bing didn’t care. Granny Fang wouldn’t leave, but he had his ways.

He began to blatantly appear with other women in front of Granny Fang, scolding her for being a hen that couldn’t lay eggs, saying that she was now alone with no one to support her, and wouldn’t have children in the future, might as well wait to die.

Granny Fang was already in poor health, and under Chen Bing’s torment, her condition worsened.

She also tried to seek help from the shopkeeper, but he didn’t listen to her at all; after all, a contract had been written to end the matter, and he wouldn’t interfere with their marital issues, as long as she didn’t bother him.

Granny Fang was helpless, with nowhere to turn, she even considered going to the Office to sue Chen Bing.

But Chen Bing had already bribed a constable at the county office, and Granny Fang was beaten away before she even got close.

It was Old Mrs. Guan who saw her and brought her back home.

By that time, Chen Bing was already considered ‘wealthy and influential’. For small ordinary folks like them, having no foundation and no kin made it impossible to fight him.

Old Mrs. Guan advised her, that now only she remained from the Fang Family, she should take good care of her health. If she got herself worn out and died disgraced like this, how could she face them in the future?

As long as the green hills remain, there will always be firewood to burn.

Granny Fang thought of her sister, and knowing her sister’s temperament, if she knew she was self-destructing like this, she might angrily jump out from underground.

Granny Fang listened to the advice, and after calming down, she peacefully negotiated with Chen Bing.

She could leave, but she had no money and was sick, Chen Bing needed to give money.

She asked for two hundred taels upfront, which Chen Bing was unwilling to give, and they eventually bargained down to a hundred taels. Furthermore, Chen Bing demanded that Granny Fang should never set foot in the county town again, he didn’t want to see her.

Granny Fang agreed. She left feeling aggrieved, but with that hundred taels, she finally got her health back.
