Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1728: Chapter 1728: An Omen Appears

Shu Yu didn’t wait for Granny Fang to refuse and left the kitchen first.

When she returned to the main hall of the medical hall, Meng Qi heard that she was going out to buy ingredients. Worried about her alone, he followed her.

Shu Yu felt a bit helpless. What was there to worry about? She’s not a three-year-old child.

But since Meng Qi insisted, Shu Yu couldn’t really refuse.

The two of them left the Mi Family medical hall together. It was still early, and there were few people on the street. Those who were around were rushing and quiet.

Shu Yu had changed into different clothes, looking inconspicuous from head to toe, keeping her head down and hurrying like the other passersby.

Meng Qi said to her, “There’s a grain store nearby. Most of the grain shops in this county town are still open, but the prices might have gone up. However, Lord Cheng has given orders, so the fluctuation isn’t much.”

Even though Lord Cheng isn’t a good person, he still has to put on a front.

At least in the hearts of the people of Chenggu County, he is still a good official who thinks of the people.

Thinking of this made Meng Qi feel disgusted.

He was about to lead Shu Yu to that grain store when she whispered, “Not that one. Are there grain stores two streets back?”

Meng Qi thought for a moment, “Yes, there are, but why go there?”

“I want to see the situation at the city gates.”

Meng Qi suddenly understood and immediately took her down an alley.

After walking a while, Meng Qi was really tempted to ask what had happened in the black market and how Jiang Kuanyu was doing, if it was he who tortured his father like this.

But seeing Shu Yu walking intently, and since they were outside, it wasn’t convenient to talk, so he had to suppress his doubts and focus on leading the way.

The two soon found a grain store. Meng Qi went in to buy grain, while Shu Yu continued forward and stopped at the alley’s entrance to observe the city gates in the distance.

The people guarding the city gates were the same as the day before, quite a few.

Shu Yu roughly counted and squinted her eyes. Something was off; there seemed to be more people.

When they entered the city the other day, she also checked. There were about thirty people, but today there were more than fifty.

Why suddenly so many?

Chenggu County has two city gates. If there are fifty people here, wouldn’t there be as many at North City?

If there are more guards at the gates, there are fewer patrols on the road.

But this means it’s disadvantageous for them. Their plan was to break them one by one, first taking down the scattered patrol soldiers, then concentrating on capturing the two city gates and the county office.

The more people at the city gate, the harder it is for them to take it down.

“Sister Shuyu, I’m done buying.” Meng Qi’s voice came from behind.

Shu Yu withdrew her gaze and turned around to see Meng Qi carrying two large cloth bags.

She took one, nodded, and said, “Let’s go back first.”

Seeing that something was off with her expression, Meng Qi quietly asked, “What’s wrong? Is there a problem with the city gate?”

“Yeah, there are more people than before. But it’s not a big deal; I’ll just mention it to the others later.”

The two headed back. Although they took the back roads, they didn’t encounter any patrol officers.

It seems there really are fewer patrols.

Back at the Mi Family medical hall, Granny Fang had already started cooking the porridge, so Shu Yu quickly began steaming buns and making pancakes.

Granny Fang was surprised to see her skilled techniques, “I didn’t expect the young lady to be so good at cooking.”

She thought that when the other said she would help, it would at most mean washing vegetables.
