Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1245: Chapter 1245: The Current State of the Ruan Family

The Ruan family, as expected, after learning that she had become the village leader, started pondering how to benefit from their granddaughter’s success.

However, they couldn’t find an excuse to visit, especially after Shu Yu’s last visit with an axe, which gave Village Chief Ruan quite a scare.

Village Chief Ruan promised to keep an eye on Old Lady Ruan, thus preventing her from causing trouble.

But Old Lady Ruan had her own reasoning—the fact that she and Madam Ruan are mother and daughter, bound by blood and flesh, means Madam Ruan couldn’t just watch her mother and brother live in poverty, right? Last time they made a foolish mistake that caused a rift with the Lu family, but their close relationship might eventually mend, right?

Besides, now that the second daughter of the Lu family has become the village leader, she surely has to be mindful of her reputation, isn’t it? If word got out that she’s unfilial, her tenure as village leader won’t last long.

Village Chief Ruan thought there was some logic to this, as there were other cases in the village where families had fallen out only to reconcile later. In fact, such things happened quite often; two families would stop speaking over a small matter and then become close again over another small matter years later.

Village Chief Ruan was somewhat hesitant and even had a small motive of his own. Now that the Ruan family’s niece had become the village leader, if they mended the relationship with Old Lady Ruan, they could perhaps form a strong connection with the Ruan Family Village and benefit in the future.

So he was half-hearted in his efforts to stop Old Lady Ruan.

Without Village Chief Ruan’s warning or watch, Old Lady Ruan, in high spirits, gathered some withered vegetables from home and set off to the county town.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she left the village, she was stopped by people from the Yu family.

Lord Yu, after all, was an experienced businessman and saw things much clearer than Village Chief Ruan.

Reconcile after a family fallout? Ridiculous.

The second daughter of the Lu family, with her tactics and nature, would reconcile with someone like Old Lady Ruan? No, she would only loathe her more.

As for reputation? A girl who has already been exiled, her character is already well-tempered; how could she care about a reputation that doesn’t affect her much?

Old Lady Ruan could be hysterical and cry in front of Village Chief Ruan, but in front of the Yu family, she only felt fear.

Her house had been smashed by people sent by Lord Yu, and her eldest son’s leg was broken by them too.

Old Lady Ruan later tried to rebuild the half of the house that was destroyed, only to have it demolished again once completed. She thus gave up on the idea, leaving half of the Ruan family property in ruins to this day.

To Old Lady Ruan, the Yu family was a nightmare she dared not provoke.

She attempted to bluff with Shu Yu, “My niece is the village leader. Although we are currently estranged, we are still family. The way you treat me is an affront to her, a slap in her face. Just wait until she finds out; she’ll definitely settle scores with you.”

The servants of the Yu family sneered, “Fine, we’ll wait and see if Monarch Lu Xiang acknowledges you as family.”

Old Lady Ruan was livid but didn’t dare to force her way through.

The Yu family warned that if any Ruan family members tried to sneak out of the village elsewhere, they would break her second son’s leg too.

Old Lady Ruan had no choice but to return home in defeat. However, she didn’t intend to let it go and decided to ask other people in the village to relay messages for her.

Most of the villagers in Ruan Family Village were surnamed Ruan, and through a twist of kinship, they were mostly relatives. There were always one or two who, after being persuaded by her, would deliver messages while running errands to the county town.
