Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 967: Chapter 967: Who is Ah You

Third Lu carefully observed for a moment, his doubts growing deeper. “Good stuff? These few plants are not only short but also have small flower disks. What’s good about them?”

“But these can be used for oil extraction.” Shu Yu’s eyes lit up as she picked out a seed with her fingers. Although the seed was small, it was plump, had a thin shell, and contained a high oil yield.

Third Lu’s eyes widened. “You—you’re saying these can be used for oil extraction?”

Oil, that’s oil.

Nowadays, whether it’s vegetable oil or lard, it’s very expensive. In the past, when their family’s conditions were poor, they would just use two drops of oil for cooking—literally two drops. There wasn’t any oiliness in the food at all.

Although life was better now, oil was still expensive.

And now Yu claimed that this stuff could produce oil? Wasn’t it said that it could only be eaten stir-fried?

He couldn’t resist reaching out and picking out two more seeds. “How much oil can one flower disk yield?”

Shu Yu didn’t know; it would need to be extracted to find out.

When she first got the sunflower seeds, she had already noticed that the seeds came in different sizes. The smaller ones were oil sunflowers, with a high oil content. In the future, when planted, these would be the real money-makers.

Later, when Daniu was asked to try planting them, she instructed him to separately plant edible sunflowers and oil sunflowers. Now both types had grown well and even thrived. How could Shu Yu not be happy?

“Alright, let’s start cutting the flower disks.” Shu Yu suppressed her excitement and hurried to get to work.

While Third Lu dawdled and slacked nearby, Daniu had already cut several flower disks.

After all, the courtyard wasn’t that big, and only a limited number of sunflowers had been planted. It didn’t take long for them to finish the cutting.

It wasn’t clear whether the initial sunflower seeds had been selectively bred or benefited from Daniu’s meticulous care. Despite the less-than-ideal planting conditions, the flower disks were all large, with plenty of plump seeds, which was very pleasing.

The three of them cut down the flower disks, then picked out the seeds from them and placed them in baskets.

The two different types of sunflowers filled nearly half a basket each.

After picking, they still needed to filter them. Some seeds turned out to have empty shells, which naturally couldn’t be used.

Luckily, there weren’t too many of those. After removing the bad ones, the remaining seeds could be kept for planting.

“Brother Daniu, take a look. If all these are planted, how much land can they cover?”

“Not quite twenty acres.”

It wasn’t much, but what could they do? There were only this many seeds.

They would plant the twenty acres first. With the favorable climate right now, they would mature in about three months. By then, they could plant a new batch. That would still be early autumn, and Jiangyuan County wouldn’t be too cold for planting. There shouldn’t be much of a problem.

If it really got cold, they could try setting up greenhouses to see if it worked.

While Shu Yu was calculating in her mind, she decided to leave these seeds with Daniu. Later, he would take care of the matters on the Manor.

Just as she was thinking about it, voices could be heard coming from outside the shop.

Daniu tilted his head to listen. “Sounds like Qiaoqiao is back.”

It wasn’t just Zhou Qiao. Daya, who was now renamed Lu Shuyou, was also there.

The two entered the backyard while chatting, pausing for a moment when they saw the three of them dirt-streaked and dusty. “What happened to you all?”

The three of them had been working for most of the day and were covered in grime. Shuyou quickly stepped forward to dust Shu Yu off.

Zhou Qiao looked around at the somewhat unfamiliar courtyard and froze briefly. “You’ve already cut the flower disks?”

“All cut. Once the Manor is sorted, we can plant right away.” Shu Yu washed her face before asking the two of them, “Why did you come over?”

Zhou Qiao said, “The shop has been shut for a few days now. It’s time to reopen. I thought I’d bring Ah You over to check the accounts, since the shop will be handed over for her to manage soon.”

Third Lu had an utterly confused expression. “Ah You? Who is Ah You?”
