Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 886: Chapter 886: Return to the County Town

Not just Lu Dasong, the old lady and others who were originally planning to get on the mule carriage also stopped in unison, abruptly turning their heads to look at her.

Hurrying over, the old lady asked, “Yu, are you planning to repair the ancestral tomb?”

“Yes, I’m essentially returning home in honor, so it’s only proper to refurbish the ancestral grave,” Shu Yu replied.

The old lady frowned and said, “Why would we need you to do that? The old man has three sons; let them handle it. Though they’re not of much use now, when they have money later on they can…”

“Grandmother,” Shu Yu interrupted her, “now is the most appropriate time.”

Lu Erbai, who was standing by, nodded after a moment of silence, addressing the old lady, “Mother, Yu is right. She’s returning home in glory, having become the Village Chief, when everyone’s already talking about it. The villagers know the content of the Imperial Decree, including the Gold bestowed by the Emperor. Today Yu went up the mountain to offer sacrifices to our ancestors, and after coming down she proposed repairing the ancestral tomb; everyone feels Yu is filial and grateful.”

Shu Yu might not care about her own reputation, like how she took an axe and ran to the Ruan family to cause trouble, indifferent to being labeled unfilial.

But Lu Erbai, being her father, doesn’t think the same way. Yu is coming of age soon, followed by marriage; the refurbishment of the ancestral tomb would only be beneficial for her.

The old lady, upon hearing this, also thought it made sense.

Nevertheless, she couldn’t help but glare at her three sons, thinking that if they were more capable, it wouldn’t fall on the grandchild Yu to take up this task.

Touching his nose, Lu Erbai thought, fine, in the old lady’s heart, he’s probably just a blade of grass now.

With no objections from anyone, Lu Dasong finally nodded and said, “Well, that’s settled then. I’ll take care of it, don’t worry.”

“Then I’ll leave it to you, Eldest Uncle,” Shu Yu said as she finally boarded the mule carriage.

The members of the main house stood at the entrance to the village, watching their carriage depart.

Lu Dasong was grinning ear to ear; he was the happiest about repairing the ancestral tomb. Immediately, he turned and headed home to start preparing to get things done as soon as possible.

Lanhua and Erniu were also excited; they walked with their heads held high all the way back. Seeing the envious looks from the villagers, the two couldn’t help but exchange glances and smile at each other.

Only Madam Li stood in place for a long time, feeling a bit jealous. She too wanted to go to the county town, but the old lady had taken her aside just now and scolded her fiercely, threatening that if she continued to make trouble, Lu Dasong would divorce her.

Now Madam Li did not dare to provoke the old lady. With Shu Yu, the Village Chief, backing her up, she was pretty smug.

The two mule carriages quickly drove towards the county town, and the road grew much wider as they approached the city gate. Lu Sanzhu, who was behind, hurried the mule carriage to speed up, lining up next to Shu Yu on the same straight path.

Then he threw the reins to Daniu, who was also sitting on the shaft, and turned his head to grin at Shu Yu, “Yu, after we return to the county town, let’s go check out that big estate.”

Shu Yu glanced at the sky, “It’s getting late. That estate is a large three-section compound. I heard from Lord Xiang that it even comes with a big backyard. If we really want to see it all, it will be dark.”

The old lady also lifted the carriage curtain to peer out, glaring at him, “Sanzhu, don’t create trouble for me. We need to check out the rented courtyard when we get back, and we have to sort out our things. We don’t have so much time to take you to wander around the big estate. We’ll go see it tomorrow.”
