She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

”Don’t know them, never had any dealings before.”

”But I remember their faces.”

Ah Chen glanced outside: ”They don’t dare to chase here, shouldn’t run into them now.”

Then there’s no way around it.

Lu Yan frowned, even if they did chase here, they hadn’t done anything yet, at most a warning, with no substantial effect. But he knew many crimes were not premeditated; maybe just seeing a pretty girl could incite criminal intentions.

Today she ran fast, otherwise, really don’t know what would happen.

”I can sketch their likeness.” Ah Chen added, ”But it probably won’t be much use.”

Lu Yan hesitated, then nodded: ”Given the current situation, even having a sketch won’t really help.”

”But if there’s no other matter, you can leave the sketches.” He said unexpectedly, not really needing this procedure since those few hooligans only blocked people and haven’t crossed any line yet.

Lu Yan found paper and pen, Ah Chen took them and quickly sketched the appearance of those few hooligans.

In the commissioner’s memory, Yu Jinyong had a shady background, but she wasn’t sure when it started, just knew he had some backing, though uncertain about the specifics.

A few sketches indeed wouldn’t change anything, besides, she never expected the local police station to do much about it. Before they commit a crime, the police can’t do much.

She has to handle it herself.

The reason for sketching is, of course, to stay here a bit longer.

Must thank Yu Jinyong, otherwise wouldn’t have come here and found a small clue waiting.

So, to thank Yu Jinyong for his contribution, break his legs.

Wanting to check in with the owner, Ah Chen also noted the sense of unease: better leave.

Ah Chen’s pace was neither fast nor slow, scanning the entire visible area of the police station. It was surprisingly quiet today, only Lu Yan was around; were the others all out on a mission?

Earlier she noticed Lu Yan walking a bit improperly, probably injured, otherwise for a mission, a sturdy young man wouldn’t have been left behind.

Soon, the appearance of five hooligans emerged vividly on paper.

Lu Yan was taken aback seeing the lifelike sketches, they were so well done that he could recognize the real person instantly.

”Have you studied art?” he asked, even as an outsider, knowing reaching this level requires much practice privately.

Ah Chen replied: ”A hobby, sort of.”

Live long enough, knowing a bit of everything seems normal.

The commissioner indeed had this hobby, kept tools at home, previously did substitute teaching, was responsible for school blackboard drawings.

No need for more excuses.

Returning home, practicing occasionally, she had proof of progress in her drawing skills.

Lu Yan recalled something, asked: ”If I describe someone’s appearance, can you sketch them?”

Upon hearing this, Ah Chen understood the young officer had some thoughts about her abilities, perhaps he wasn’t a regular cop?

”Haven’t tried, but can give it a shot.”

”Well... could you try now?” Lu Yan asked, a bit excited yet slightly embarrassed, but didn’t abandon the idea.

Ah Chen agreed.

Opened a fresh page, held the pen, waiting for Lu Yan to describe.

Lu Yan wasted no time, recounted a person’s appearance from memory. Initially, just testing, but as Ah Chen adjusted, the person on paper increasingly matched his memory, ultimately identical to his impression.

”Need any changes?” Ah Chen asked, handing over the sketchbook.

While feeling a potential new job on the horizon.

Good news.

Lu Yan took the sketchbook, slightly trembling, lost in thought, eyes filled with anger at the person in the sketch.

Must be a criminal? Done much evil, possibly harmed Lu Yan or his colleagues?

Ah Chen pondered.

”Exactly the same, no changes needed,” Lu Yan said, this was the closest yet; prior works from his descriptions often missed the mark, wouldn’t help in identifying anyone.

Talents like this are too rare, or perhaps they’ve not encountered them.

”May I know your name?”

”Jiang Chen.”

”I’m Lu Yan.”

Lu Yan had calmed down, contemplating how to broach the subject.

”Are you in need of a job?” he asked, slightly embarrassed.

Ah Chen laughed: ”Happen to need one.”

Lu Yan felt uplifted, quickly learning she once was a substitute teacher, but the regular teacher returned, school’s not needing her temporarily.

A hidden joy, swiftly recommending a new job to Ah Chen.

Ah Chen learned Lu Yan wasn’t a police station officer; recently recovering, today by chance as issues arose, others on assignment, normally he handles such matters, being well-acquainted, temporarily overseeing things, usually nothing much happening.

”Might have to go to the county town,” Lu Yan said, the local station isn’t challenging for her skills, ”Requires some time, will review your identity, then submit your information, might have to demonstrate your skills, any problem with that?”

Ah Chen naturally didn’t refuse, checking was rightful. The county isn’t far from Jixiang Village, just a bit further than the town, manageable for family care. Her work range won’t be taxing.

As for Yu Jinyong, breaking his legs earlier keeps him from troubling Jiang Family. But this must be done before the job starts, as long as she doesn’t get exposed, shouldn’t be dragged down by it.

Currently needing a job, to ease the Jiang Family’s worries.

Prior to leaving school, Jiang Maochuan’s couple comforted her for a while, fearing unhappiness. On returning, Jiang Aiguo and Chen Xiuying upon knowing, probably would worry too.

Earlier considered using her inherent ability for illustration submissions to magazines, given the times, sudden abilities would be troublesome.

Now, inadvertently landed a decent job.

Just right.

Soon, the officers on missions returned.

Seeing Ah Chen, asked Lu Yan about the situation, learning she’d been blocked by hooligans, they frowned. Hooligans merely blocking, nothing done yet, they helplessly sighed.

”Heading home now?” Lu Yan asked, ”I can drive you back.”

Earlier chased by hooligans, of course a young girl would be scared, hence he decided to escort her home. Soon they’ll be colleagues, needing her help in subsequent cases, can’t let her face any risks.
