She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: The Groom Ran Away on His Wedding Night 32

Shen Chi was never content, constantly plotting how to make a fortune and where to start his business.

He only had a few tens of thousands in hand, barely enough for a small business.

This wasn’t what he wanted. Making big money from a small business was too tough and very time-consuming.

So he thought of the Shen Family—at least so many people there, except for Jiang Hongying, were earning money. His dad, Shen Mingqiang, his second brother Shen Xun, and his sister-in-law Wei Menglan, together made just over twenty thousand.

The one earning the most was Shen Mingqiang. He had always worked hard, with a regular job at the factory and some sideline jobs, making over ten thousand a month. This was the main reason why Jiang Hongying had been willing to manage everything at home for many years after marrying him. Even if she occasionally got angry, urging everyone to help at home, if Shen Mingqiang really didn’t want to do it, she wouldn’t make too much fuss, just grumble a bit.

Shen Xun and Wei Menglan both earned about the same, though sometimes Wei Menglan might earn a bit more.

Wei Menglan was also hardworking, but she not only had to work, she also had to help at home. If she didn’t have to worry about the house and the two kids, she could earn even more.

Shen Xun didn’t try as hard, partly because he was still unwilling, and partly because he was indecisive and couldn’t resist flirting with any slightly pretty woman he saw, which was a habit hard to change. If he really put in some effort, earning seven or eight thousand would be easy for him, possibly even more.

When Shen Chi asked his family for money, he asked if they wanted to invest, or just lend the money to him.

When the Shen Family heard he wanted to start a business, they all fell silent.

It’s not that they hadn’t thought about it, but they gradually accepted their fate upon realizing it wasn’t meant for them, no matter how unwilling they were internally.

Wei Menglan barely hesitated and immediately said, ”I don’t have any here, my money is saved for Tongtong’s dental care.”

She glanced at Jiang Hongying and continued, ”Since Dengtong Town developed, I’ve made quite a bit, but I didn’t save a penny for myself. Once Tongtong’s teeth are fixed, I won’t hand over any more money; I’ll save it myself, so I don’t find myself without money at a critical time.”

It’s so difficult to spend her own money, the humiliation she never wants to experience again. Clearly, she can earn money, not asking someone else for it, so why should she degrade and humble herself like this?

Jiang Hongying jumped up immediately: ”You eat and drink in this house without paying for living expenses?”

”I think the money from before is enough to feed our family for many years. Besides, doesn’t Shen Xun hand over the money to mom every month?” Wei Menglan looked at Shen Xun, who sat there silently and continued, ”One of us gives his money completely to you, what more do you want?”

”It’s outrageous; everyone is being outrageous.” Jiang Hongying cried out loudly, ”Do you want to live like this? Nobody listens, this family will be torn apart by you disobedient ones sooner or later, and will you be happy when it’s destroyed? Second, aren’t you going to do something? Are you really going to let her set this bad example, do you really want to anger your mother to death?”

”Second, are you not going to manage your wife?”

Shen Xun snuffed out the cigarette, feeling he couldn’t stay in this house for another moment.

Constant arguments, either it’s his mom or Wei Menglan, it wasn’t this bad when Lv Chen was around. At least when Lv Chen was there, those two had to be quieter, spoke softly, otherwise Lv Chen wouldn’t let them off easy.

”Stop arguing with mom,” he said, looking very impatient.

Naturally, Shen Xun dared not say anything to his mom, otherwise the situation would worsen.

”Fix Tongtong’s teeth and let’s continue to let mom manage the salary. It’s no use you holding so much money.”

”Keep arguing like this, do you think it makes life easier?”

Wei Menglan quietly looked at him, speechless for a moment.

Jiang Hongying, however, settled down. The third couldn’t control Lv Chen, but the second could definitely handle Wei Menglan.

Wei Menglan said calmly: ”Does it mean all the money I earn in my lifetime has to go into your mom’s hands? Do I have to work like a horse for the Shen Family all my life?”

”Shen Xun! Do I owe you all?” Wei Menglan suddenly yelled, startling everyone.

”If I can’t live on, then let’s divorce,” she said.

”I’ve had enough, I’m sick of living like this.”

”I don’t owe you all anything; why should I be a slave to you, thinking it’s only natural to consider the money I earn yours? Even for fixing Tongtong’s teeth, you all aren’t willing. You won’t even take care of the children, will you bother with someone like me who everyone despises? If something happens to me, the first thing you might think of is how to kick me out.”

The hardship won’t lead to sweetness, no it won’t.

Having money in hand makes one stand firm.

If they can’t get along, so be it. She didn’t believe she’d starve to death after leaving the Shen Family today.

The factory also provided accommodation, at worst she would live there in the future.

As for Tongtong, she was already staying in school; it’s just that she would need a place to be on weekends at most.

And her son, the only grandson of the Shen Family, even Shen Xun adored him, someone would take care of him.

Thinking of her son, Wei Menglan’s face darkened more, feeling even more desolate inside. Her son shouted at her, despite her corrections, he seemed aware of who was in charge at home and wouldn’t listen to her at all. She wasn’t able to control him, as soon as she tried, her mother-in-law would scold and take the child away.

Isn’t Tongtong her spitting image?

She would never let her daughter follow the same old path.

She didn’t want to stay muddle-headed like this anymore.

”The second daughter-in-law of the Shen Family is causing a divorce scandal.” At the dining table, Ding Haiying brought up the issue.

With the development of information technology, there was no need to visit in person; any news could be known via phone call or message. Ding Haiying was particularly interested in the matter.

”I think she means it,” Ding Haiying said with emotion, ”She’s even moved to the factory to live. The Shen Family certainly doesn’t want to see her divorce Shen the Second, or else it’ll become gossip.”

”Jiang Hongying is going around saying how restless she’s become, not seeing her own faults.” She shook her head.

Ah Chen said, ”Mom seems quite concerned about them.”

”It’s not that I’m particularly focused on them, it’s just that any little movement gets reported to me.” Ding Haiying said, ”Ever since our family’s condition improved, there have been more and more nosy people.”

Ah Chen chuckled, that was true too.

”What’s Xiao Yan been up to recently? He seems quite busy for over a year?”

Ah Chen smiled slightly and said nonchalantly, ”He just finished dealing with the Yun Family and is wrapping things up. He’s in North City for now, but will be back soon.”

”All three in the Yun Family were dirty and were all sent in by their own mother.”

Ding Haiying knew about the Yun Family and understood the grievances Xie Yan faced, and upon hearing the news, she clapped her thighs, ”Well done!”

She could understand a mother’s perspective.

”Shen Chi wants to start a business, but lacks funds, and the Shen Family didn’t put much in, probably due to past fears. I heard he went to the Shen Family’s elder daughter to borrow money. Shen Ping and her husband are quite capable, having gone from a braised food stand to now operating a braised food restaurant and even opened a branch. They’re thriving. Her man especially is quite capable, not afraid of hardships, used to work like a dog when he was in the factory. The only drawback is that he’s rather taciturn, really found herself a good one. She can control him just fine, but she’s quite strict, it’s the modern age but Lou Hong never had more than ten yuan in his pocket.” Ding Haiying said more about it, ”Shen Ping’s family must have money, but she’s very stingy, wonder what the result was when Shen Chi went to borrow money.”

Just then, her phone rang. Upon looking at it, she paused, then clicked her tongue, ”Does my mouth have some kind of foresight, talking about it and it happens.”

Ah Chen was curious, ”What happened?”

”It’s about Shen Ping’s family, the two of them are also divorcing.” Ding Haiying was shocked, ”It was Lou Hong who initiated it; he’s been having an affair with a clerk from the branch store.”

Ah Chen wasn’t surprised at the news, since the commissioner’s memory contained that piece of information.
