High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: The Dean’s Invitation

After completing his enrollment, Xu Wuyi returned to his residence. With Anna around, the rest of the work could be finished from home.

”Your enrollment information has been processed. Would you like an overview of the first-year curriculum?” Anna asked.

”Yes,” Xu Wuyi nodded.

As he already knew, the first-year curriculum at Star Martial University was mainly divided into two parts.

One part consisted of mandatory core courses, including general theory classes like *Federation Modern History*, *Star Beast Atlas and Habit Analysis*, and *Basic Principles of Energy Science*, as well as specialized foundational classes like *Martial Arts Development History* and *Basic Theory of Qi and Blood Circulation*.

The other part consisted of a wide variety of large elective courses, taught by the university’s Martial Artists, Innate Martial Artists, and occasionally even Grandmasters, which were open to all interested students.

The subjects covered everything from Weapon Techniques and Advanced Body Techniques to Introduction to Pharmacy and Alien Language and Culture.

”Anna,” Xu Wuyi said, ”based on my current Martial Arts System and overall status, recommend the courses I should focus on this semester.”

A soft blue light converged, and Anna’s virtual projection appeared beside him.

”Command received. Now conducting a comprehensive analysis based on your cultivation data, your performance in the new student challenge, and your long-term development potential...”

A moment later, a list of recommended courses appeared on the holographic screen.

At the very top of the list, one course, specially marked in bold red text, immediately captured all of Xu Wuyi’s attention: *Initial Understanding of Martial Arts True Intent*.

Start Date: Mid-October. Instructor: Grandmaster Lin Jianyi.

”*Initial Understanding of Martial Arts True Intent*...” Xu Wuyi murmured the course name, his eyes brightening.

He had already comprehended the True Intention of the ”Mountain” and had made initial attempts to integrate it into his Spear Technique. However, he had mostly relied on his own trial and error and the guidance of the *Eight-direction Soul Suppressing Spear*, so he lacked systematic theoretical instruction.

This course, personally taught by a Grandmaster, was without a doubt exactly what he needed most right now.

’Grandmaster Lin Jianyi...’ The name didn’t ring a bell for Xu Wuyi.

For the past several years, he had been completely absorbed in his strenuous training. Grandmaster Level figures simply weren’t on his radar.

Still, a lecture from a Grandmaster was a rare opportunity, and it would be a fool’s errand to miss it.

”Add this course to my priority list and remind me a week before it starts,” Xu Wuyi instructed. ”Also, highlight all courses taught by Grandmasters this semester.”

”Command confirmed,” Anna replied. ”Additionally, I recommend you take *Analysis of Common Bottlenecks in Body Refining Method* and *Basic Spiritual Meditation Method*. These two courses will aid your current cultivation of the *Hundred Refinements Melting Furnace* and your subsequent spiritual enhancement.”

Xu Wuyi nodded, taking note of each of Anna’s suggestions.

Once his course schedule was more or less set, another, more practical problem surfaced in his mind.

’Where am I going to earn points?’

The 490 points he had on hand seemed like a lot, but they would be spent in a flash, whether on redeeming higher-tier Martial Arts or on rare cultivation resources like the Earth Fire Lotus Seed.

His initial scholarship and the new student challenge reward alone were clearly not enough to support his long-term cultivation.

An opportunity like the new student challenge probably wouldn’t come around again, and even if a similar event happened, it would take a different form.

”Anna, besides the mission system, what are the other regular ways to earn points at the university?” Xu Wuyi inquired.

”There are three main methods for earning points.” The information on Anna’s holographic screen changed.

”First, academic ranking. A portion of the top-ranked students receive a small point reward. Second, campus missions. These include tasks like Cultivation Area maintenance, Star Beast sample collection, and Martial Arts teaching assistance. Completing missions earns a corresponding number of points. Third, competitive tournaments. By participating in events like the inter-courtyard competitions, you can earn point rewards based on your placement.”

”What are the requirements to accept campus missions?” Xu Wuyi pressed.

”You must reach the standard of an Official Martial Artist (Life Energy Level 20) and pass a mission qualification review,” Anna answered succinctly. ”Your current Life Energy Level does not yet meet this condition.”

Xu Wuyi frowned slightly. He had known about the academic ranking system before even enrolling at Star Martial University, but the main rewards were in Federation currency, allowing students to purchase conventional resources.

Over the two months of summer vacation, Xu Wuyi’s Life Energy Level had certainly skyrocketed, but he had also consumed a considerable number of D-Level Life Potions.

The loan he had received from the Battle Network, combined with the three million in Federation currency from his S-class scholarship, had now dwindled to just over a million.

The ranking rewards at Star Martial University were distributed monthly. If he couldn’t secure a good rank by the end of the month, his supply of Life Potions would be cut off.

At that point, it would be impossible to maintain his growth rate of nearly 1.5 Energy Levels per month.

”Resources really are crucial...” Xu Wuyi mumbled, then asked, ”When are the inter-courtyard competitions?”

”They are scheduled for January of each year,” Anna replied.

’So that’s around the end of this semester,’ Xu Wuyi thought, nodding slightly.

None of these three avenues were particularly suitable for him at the moment. It seemed he would have to be frugal with the points he had.

He had to break through to Level 20 and become an Official Martial Artist as soon as possible.

Just as he was lost in thought, Anna’s voice sounded again.

”Student Xu Wuyi, there is an encrypted message from He Yifeng, the Dean of the East Courtyard, inviting you to a meeting in the ’Lingyun Peak’ scene on the Star Martial Battle Network at two o’clock this afternoon. Do you accept the invitation?”

”The Dean of the East Courtyard?” Xu Wuyi was taken aback.

He knew that Star Martial University was divided internally into four courtyards—East, South, West, and North—and students were assigned to a courtyard based on their home province. Since he came from Dongjiang Province, he naturally belonged to the East Courtyard.

A figure at the level of a dean was a person of great importance to him; he never expected someone like that to contact him personally.

’Is it because of my performance in the new student challenge?’

”Accept the invitation,” Xu Wuyi said without hesitation.

’Whatever the dean’s purpose is, this is undoubtedly an opportunity.’

”Invitation confirmed. Please log in to the Battle Network on time.” After speaking, Anna’s virtual projection quietly dissipated.

Xu Wuyi looked at the holographic screen before him, his gaze sweeping over the course information for *Initial Understanding of Martial Arts True Intent* one last time before he closed the interface.

...

Xu Wuyi lay down in the Virtual Pod, his consciousness connecting to the Star Martial Battle Network.

He didn’t go to his personal space, instead choosing to teleport directly to the coordinates Anna had provided.

The scene before him shifted. A sense of weightlessness washed over him, and in the next instant, he found himself standing atop a solitary peak.

A sea of clouds churned around him, swirling with mist. In the distance, the ethereal figures of cranes soared through the air.

The summit was flat, occupied by a single, simple, octagonal stone pavilion. Inside stood a middle-aged man with a refined, scholarly face, dressed in a cyan robe.

He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, gazing out at the sea of clouds. No powerful fluctuations of Qi and Blood radiated from his body, yet he seemed to have merged with the world around him, naturally exuding an aura as profound as a deep abyss and as steadfast as a great mountain.

It was He Yifeng, the Dean of the East Courtyard.

Xu Wuyi walked steadily toward the stone pavilion, stopping just outside to bow respectfully.

”Student Xu Wuyi, greetings, Dean He.”
