High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Slaying the White Ape

Unlike the previous Earth-Split Bear, the White Ape, despite its stout build, was exceptionally agile.

The bone staff in its hand was casually propped on the ground, but its mere stance exuded a crushing pressure, like a mountain bearing down.

Xu Wuyi’s heart tightened.

The last time he challenged the fifth level, he had tried to use the same kiting tactics he used against the Earth-Split Bear, hoping to wear down the White Ape’s stamina.

But the result had left him utterly stunned.

The White Ape’s stamina seemed endless. Even after nearly ten full minutes of fighting, its breathing remained steady.

He, on the other hand, had exhausted over half of his Qi and Blood from constantly dodging and was ultimately sent flying by a single blow from its staff, failing the challenge.

’This time, no more running around.’

Xu Wuyi’s eyes narrowed, and the Qi and Blood in his body instantly began to boil.

He cast aside any thought of probing his opponent. He made a grasping motion with his right hand, and a virtual spear shimmering with silver light instantly materialized.

As Qi and Blood poured into it, the spear’s shaft began to glow with a faint red light.

”Melting Furnace Boiling Blood, activate!”

His *Hundred Refinements Melting Furnace* technique activated at full power, and his Qi and Blood surged through his meridians like ignited magma.

His speed, strength, and reflexes instantly skyrocketed!

At the same time, Xu Wuyi pushed his Spiritual Power to its limit, and the thread of ”Mountain” True Intention in his sea of consciousness instantly coalesced.

”ROAR!”

The Mountain-Splitting White Ape seemed to sense Xu Wuyi’s fighting spirit. A ferocious light erupted in its crimson eyes as it let out a sudden, violent roar.

The sound made the surrounding rocks tremble. It slammed its bone staff into the ground—BOOM!—and a half-meter-deep crater appeared, sending rubble flying.

The next second, the White Ape’s figure shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow.

Its speed was far greater than imagined. Its massive body weaved nimbly across the ground, and with a light tap of its toes on a rock, it launched itself into the air. The bone staff in its hands whistled through the air as it brought it crashing down on Xu Wuyi’s head!

The blow was immensely powerful, carrying a sharp, wind-tearing sound as if it would shatter the very air.

Instead of retreating, Xu Wuyi advanced. He executed his *Instant Shadow Step*, sidestepping the staff’s point of impact while simultaneously thrusting his spear forward. The tip of the spear, carrying a wave of scorching heat, aimed straight for the White Ape’s chest.

”CLANG!”

The spear tip struck the fur on the White Ape’s chest but was blocked by an invisible Qi and Blood Barrier, letting out a crisp metallic clang.

Xu Wuyi felt a tremendous rebounding force travel up the spear, making his arm go slightly numb.

This White Ape wasn’t just immensely strong and incredibly fast—its defense was also far superior to that of a Martial Artist of the Same Ability Level!

Just then, a sharp glint flashed in Xu Wuyi’s eyes. The Soul Suppressing trait of his *Eight-direction Soul Suppressing Spear* technique silently activated.

An invisible Mental Suppression traveled from the tip of the spear into the White Ape. The pressure was like a mountain crashing down, bearing directly on the ape’s Heart and Spirit.

The White Ape’s frenzied movements suddenly froze. The ferocious light in its eyes dimmed for a moment, and the speed at which it swung its staff slowed by a fraction.

It seemed confused, and the surging Qi and Blood in its body momentarily stagnated.

That was the opening!

With a twist of his wrist, Xu Wuyi changed his thrust into an upward flick, the tip of his spear precisely slicing across the White Ape’s armpit.

That was where its fur was thinnest and its defense was relatively weak.

”SCHLICK!”

The spear tip tore through skin, drawing a trail of bright red blood.

The Mountain-Splitting White Ape cried out in pain and let out an enraged roar, the ferocity in its eyes intensifying.

Ignoring the wound under its arm, it swung its staff in a wide arc, sending a gale-force wind straight toward Xu Wuyi’s waist.

Xu Wuyi pulled his spear back and retreated, narrowly avoiding the sweeping attack.

The staff brushed past the corner of his clothes and slammed into a stalagmite behind him. CRACK! The bowl-sized stalagmite was snapped in half.

’As expected, Soul Suppressing can interfere with it, but the effect is limited.’ Xu Wuyi understood.

The Mountain-Splitting White Ape’s Spiritual Strength was far greater than that of an ordinary Star Beast, almost on par with a human Martial Artist.

The Basic Level of Soul Suppressing could only interfere with it briefly, not suppress it continuously.

’To win, I have to seize the opportunity during that brief moment of interference and inflict real damage.’

Missing its attack, the White Ape grew even more furious.

It began to swing its staff like a violent tempest—sweeping, smashing, cleaving, and thrusting. Although its moves lacked any real Technique, its terrifying strength and speed made its assault impenetrable.

Every time the staff came down, the ground would shake and rubble would fly.

Xu Wuyi weaved nimbly through the dense flurry of staff shadows, pushing his *Instant Shadow Step* to its absolute limit. His figure was like a willow catkin in the wind; it looked perilous, but he always managed to evade the attacks by a hair’s breadth.

At the same time, his spear never stopped moving, constantly searching for an opening to counterattack.

”SCHLICK!”

”CLANG!”

”BANG!”

The sounds of clashing metal and tearing flesh echoed endlessly throughout the valley.

Xu Wuyi’s Spear Technique was precise and ruthless, each attack aimed at the White Ape’s weak points.

Armpits, neck, knee joints—and every time he landed a hit, it was accompanied by the Soul Suppressing Mental Suppression, causing the White Ape’s movements to momentarily falter.

The White Ape’s body was soon covered in wounds. Blood stained its white fur, making it look exceptionally ferocious.

But its ferocity did not diminish in the slightest. Instead, the injuries made it even more frenzied, and the force of its attacks grew stronger and stronger.

’This thing’s Recovery Power is insane!’ Xu Wuyi thought in alarm.

He noticed that some of the shallower wounds on the White Ape’s body were slowly healing.

Although the healing speed wasn’t fast, in a high-intensity battle, this Recovery Power undoubtedly increased its endurance considerably.

’I can’t drag this out. I have to end this quickly!’

Xu Wuyi took a deep breath, and the Qi and Blood in his body began to circulate even faster.

He was no longer content with just harassing and probing. He began to gather his strength, preparing to unleash a more powerful attack.

He intentionally created an opening. The moment the White Ape’s staff came smashing down, he didn’t dodge completely. Instead, he shifted his body to let the main shaft of the staff pass, allowing the tip to graze his shoulder.

”BANG!”

The staff’s tip struck his shoulder. A massive force slammed into him, and Xu Wuyi felt a searing pain as his Qi and Blood roiled. Half of his body went almost numb.

But he used the force of the impact to propel himself forward, rushing toward the White Ape as he focused all his strength and Qi and Blood into his spear.

”Furnace Flame! Triple Power!”

The tip of the spear first glowed with a faint red light, which grew brighter and brighter until it condensed into a single, brilliant spark.

First Layer of Power: Penetration!

Second Layer of Power: Tearing!

Third Layer of Power: Eruption!

The Triple Power stacked together, and the spear tip, carrying a world-destroying momentum, shot straight for the White Ape’s throat!

A trace of terror flashed in the Mountain-Splitting White Ape’s eyes. It sensed a mortal threat and tried to retreat and dodge.

But the Soul Suppressing Mental Suppression activated again, and its body froze once more.

”SCHLICK!”

The spear plunged into the White Ape’s throat without any suspense, its tip piercing through flesh and bone to exit from the back of its neck.

The Triple Power erupted inside the White Ape’s body!

The White Ape’s body stiffened violently. The ferocious light in its crimson eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a dead stillness.

The bone staff in its hand fell to the ground with a CLATTER. Its massive body swayed and then crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

A few seconds later, the White Ape’s body dissolved into a flash of white light and vanished into thin air.

”Fifth level cleared. Time elapsed: 2 minutes and 17 seconds.”

The system prompt sounded, its tone cold and clear. Xu Wuyi stood in place and let out a long, heavy breath.

Searing pain still radiated from his shoulder—that last blow had shattered his scapula—but his eyes were astonishingly bright.

’I passed!’

This time, he hadn’t relied on kiting to wear it down. He had chosen the most direct approach: a head-on clash.

Relying on the burst from Melting Furnace Boiling Blood and the interference from Soul Suppressing, he had managed to kill the Mountain-Splitting White Ape in under two minutes!

A virtual screen popped up, displaying the reward for clearing the level: ”Fifth Level Reward: 50 points.”

A smile touched the corners of Xu Wuyi’s lips.

’Counting the previous four levels, that’s 150 points in total. I’ve already made back what I spent on the *Eight-direction Soul Suppressing Spear*.’
