The Villain of Ancient Greece

Late at night.

The moon temple.

Lorne sat in the empty council hall, head bent over the stacks of official documents on the table.

Originally this should have been his good student Atalanta’s responsibility, but since Her Majesty the Queen was still face-down on a bed fast asleep due to the Goddess of Love’s residual power, this teacher and chief culprit had no choice but to stand in and temporarily maintain Arcadia’s order.

After working for quite a while and finally clearing the recently accumulated matters,

Lorne let out a long relieved breath, leaned back in his chair, and closed his eyes to rest.

His heart began to miss the days when the twin brothers were around.

Although Gemini carried a certain legend of backstabbing their leader, these two had real ability.

As formally trained candidates for the Spartan throne, whether in military and combat matters or in administration and bearing, their performance among their peers was genuinely commendable.

With those two brothers available to assist, even if Lorne was forced to step in and handle things, he could save quite a lot of effort.

Unfortunately, several days ago the two brothers brought their sister Helen and headed ahead to Thessaly to help King Admetus resist the restless Gigantes clan.

The fact that Apollo personally issued this divine prophecy proved on one hand that King Admetus held considerable weight in that God of Light’s heart, and on the other hand that the situation in Thessaly was likely quite dire.

The Gigantes...

Lorne murmured that name quietly and raised his hand to press his somewhat aching brow.

If he remembered correctly, the third great mythological war relating to Olympus’s survival, the Gigantomachy, was triggered by these Gigantes giants.

Since it was one of the turning points of [Destiny], and Apollo’s side had also contributed considerable effort during the defense of Arcadia, it seemed Thessaly was a place he had to visit.

”Hiss!”

Just as Lorne was in thought, the Hermes script warning inscription outside hummed and shattered, as he opened his eyes from the chair and looked toward the gently pushed-open door.

In the deep darkness of night, a graceful figure stepped inside with light footsteps.

The silver moonlight streaming through the window fell in dappled patches, dimly illuminating the newcomer’s outline.

Based on those distinctive feline ears, Lorne immediately confirmed the visitor was his good student Atalanta.

”You are up?”

”Ahem, mm...”

Atalanta answered with a slightly nasal tone, her eyes instinctively glancing upward to observe the structure of the ceiling beams.

Lorne casually changed the subject, trying to break through the subtle awkwardness between them.

”Just you? Where is Medea?”

”She has not woken yet. Will probably sleep for a few more days.”

Atalanta gave a light hum, and thinking of how she had absorbed seventy percent of the damage throughout those seven days and seven nights, could not help rubbing her still faintly aching buttocks, a trace of contempt for her incapable teammate showing in her eyes.

”She could not even handle this level. Is her constitution really that weak?”

”Medea is just hopeless like that!”

Lorne gave an agreeing nod and chimed in with teasing humor.

”Even for a mage, her constitution cannot be this poor. When there is time later, I guarantee I will have her strengthen her training!”

Training?

Atalanta instinctively licked her slightly dry lips, a faint unnatural flush rising on her cheeks.

Lorne, seeing that this naughty student of his seemed to be taking things in the wrong direction, quickly gave a dry cough and redirected the topic.

”Good that you are awake. I was just worrying about how to arrange Arcadia’s administrative affairs.”

”Something came up?”

”Thessaly has run into some trouble. The Spartan twin brothers have already set out ahead with their sister Helen in observance of their chief God Apollo’s divine prophecy.

I am somewhat worried about them and plan to go take a look.”

Hearing her teacher’s explanation, Atalanta gave a nod and considered.

”That is right. To help Arcadia through this difficult period, Lord Apollo and the Spartan twins put in considerable effort.

Now that a neighboring land faces trouble, we should absolutely contribute our share.”

Having expressed her stance, she could not help showing a somewhat troubled expression.

”But as you know, Arcadia only just emerged from the beast outbreak’s impact. Everything is still being rebuilt. I am afraid I cannot get away, so I cannot travel with you.”

”That is fine. Medea and I will be enough. You stay in Arcadia first to hold things together.

Once the situation stabilizes, we can make further plans.”

Lorne looked warmly at this student of his, who has now become his woman.

That indulgent gaze sent a warm current flowing through Atalanta’s heart.

From childhood on, no matter what kind of trouble she encountered, no matter what kind of low points she faced, this extraordinarily capable teacher of hers had always been her most steadfast support and safest refuge.

If only she did not have to be this queen.

Then she could stay by her teacher’s side again, not needing to think about anything, free from this kind of weighing of gains and losses.

Thinking of the coming separation, Atalanta felt some frustration in her heart and even began missing the carefree days before she became queen.

It was a pity that this was Lady Artemis’s commission and she could not bear to abandon the Arcadian people who trusted and depended on her.

If only someone could take on this responsibility in her place...

Atalanta was thinking this through when her gaze swept over the diligently working figure behind the office desk and her heart gave a stir, her eyes beginning to flicker.

”Teacher. We will be parting ways in a couple of days. I have a request and

I hope you can grant it.”

”A request? Ahem, there is no need to be this formal. Just say whatever is on your mind.”

”Promise me first!”

”Fine, fine, fine.”

The teacher who harbored deep indulgent affection for his beloved student gave a helpless nod and asked casually.

”All right. What do you want?”

In the clear moonlight, a certain Queen of Arcadia looked steadily at her teacher and spoke with genuine seriousness.

”With Lady Artemis as witness, I wish you to give me a child!”

”Pfft!”

Lorne, who had just taken a sip of tea, immediately sprayed it out, his face full of astonishment.

”A, a child?”

”Mm. To be honest, I have no wish to be any queen, and no wish to be bound by worldly conventions.

But I cannot bring myself to abandon the people of Arcadia either.

So the best approach is to give birth to a child, raise them well, and have them succeed me as the new ruler of Arcadia.”

Atalanta stated her thoughts honestly, her gaze blazing as she looked at her teacher.

Whether from personal feelings or from a practical standpoint, this teacher of hers was an ideal candidate.

He not only possessed outstanding bloodlines but was also broadly learned and handled affairs of all kinds with complete ease.

If she had him continue the royal bloodline for Arcadia, and after the child grew up under his guidance, she could step down without any burden and live the life she wanted.

The more Atalanta thought about it, the more perfect this plan seemed.

In the end, she could not help stepping forward on the moonlight.

And as she walked, the current Queen of Arcadia undid her hunting outfit and removed her clothes piece by piece.

In the light the moon cast over her, her athletic figure with its marble-like healthy beauty radiated a faint glow.

Under a certain someone’s cultivation, this student of his seemed to have shed her original youthful greenness and become even more breathtaking.

However, Lorne looked at the sanctuary directly facing the council hall’s door and at the statue placed within it, and could not help swallowing, a guilty unease rising in his heart.

”We are still in the moon temple.

This does not seem appropriate, does it?”

However, Atalanta pressed the teacher who was trying to rise and make his escape back into his seat, the flame in her eyes burning even more intensely.

”Continuing the royal authority of Arcadia is itself a task bestowed by the Goddess.

She certainly will not mind.

Besides, Lady Artemis is not only the Hunting Goddess but also the Goddess presiding over midwifery, fertility and abundance. Having her bear witness and bestow blessings on our child would only be better, would it not?”

As everyone knew, feline creatures had very strong instincts and a very strong rebellious streak.

And in the original mythology,

Atalanta left behind a legend of battling her husband for three days and three nights in a certain Goddess’s temple and being transformed into a lion as a result.

Obviously, a destiny that had experienced certain deviations, after undergoing a degree of self-correction, layered into the even more subtle situation before him now.

Before Lorne had a chance to take his next step, the entire chair with him in it was toppled backward.

Then, a certain feline creature of the moonlit night could no longer suppress the deeply buried love and desire in her heart and the longing to break through forbidden boundaries as she pounced on the man she without hesitation.

Skin pressed close, cheeks brushing together, the atmosphere beneath the office desk instantly turned blazing as the two looked at each other.

Looking at her burning eyes and her charming body that made his own desires swell, Lorne couldn’t help but sigh.

However, as he heard the sound of cloth tearing, he resigned himself to lying on the cold floor, his dry voice carrying a thread of pleading and grievance.

”Gently, gently! Don’t bite.

I’ll cooperate!”

But very quickly, that negligible resistance and half-reluctant attitude were torn to shreds by the feline creature gone completely wild.

As the long night stretched on, intertwining sounds of collision echoed beneath the clear moonlight, filling the entire moon temple.
