Gun of Ashes

Chapter 699: Chapter 179 Farewell_2

How could he say such words? Regardless of whether all this involves intelligence about the Demon.

His heart couldn’t help but feel a twinge of conflict. If not for Lorenzo’s reason, Bola really didn’t want to appear here, but he had no choice. Maybe this old lady knows some information about Lorenzo’s disappearance, but at the moment, she seems to be a complete outsider who knows nothing.

”I’m not sure.”

”Really...”

”Then I should go, goodbye.”

Bola nodded to Mrs. Van Rudd, he didn’t want to ask anything else, just wanted to leave here quickly, he didn’t understand what happened between the landlord and the tenant, he just felt that the atmosphere made him feel extremely tormented.

Mrs. Van Rudd said nothing more. In fact, she had a premonition during that heavy rain, the unusual Hig, the serious Lorenzo, she wanted to ask what happened, but after the two left the house, they never came back.

She was very old, but she wasn’t stupid. She waited for a month, and no one came back. As if accepting all this, Mrs. Van Rudd just wanted to leave this city quickly.

She had thought about the scene of the farewell, only she didn’t expect it to be this way, so abrupt that she didn’t realize they had already parted until a month later.

The melodious sound of a steam whistle came from the horizon, and at the same time, footsteps sounded, a man came over and sat on the bench, leaning towards Mrs. Van Rudd.

She turned her head and looked at that slightly annoying face.

”You’re not dead yet.”

”Almost dead, fortunately, I’m strong and healthy, wouldn’t you say?”

Lorenzo smiled at her, showing off his muscles as he spoke, but his arms were wrapped in clothes, and nothing could be seen.

”So what happened during this month.”

Mrs. Van Rudd was not surprised by Lorenzo’s appearance. On the contrary, she was a little disappointed. In her view, Lorenzo might appear in some extremely cool way, after all, this fits his somewhat narcissistic personality, but this time his appearance was too mediocre, simply a negative score.

”Quite a lot, killed some damn guys, then went out for a walk, cleared my head, thought about life.”

As Lorenzo spoke, he suddenly remembered something and asked.

”So are you retiring?”

”You’re a detective, don’t ask such stupid questions, okay?” Mrs. Van Rudd said unceremoniously.

This made Lorenzo a little embarrassed. Indeed, he just didn’t know what to say, so he rambled on with something useless.

He returned early to 121A Cork Street, but the door was locked, and the furniture inside was covered with dust-protecting white cloths, while Mrs. Van Rudd’s clothes had all disappeared.

Lorenzo naturally tracked her down to here, then found her preparing to leave, as Mrs. Van Rudd had mentioned her plans for afterward, Lorenzo was very clear about it.

”So how was your month of disappearance?”

Mrs. Van Rudd asked again.

Lorenzo fell silent, a bit hesitant, but eventually, he awkwardly smiled, somewhat helplessly saying.

”Terrible.”

Mrs. Van Rudd said nothing more. Usually, their conversations had some nonsense and humorous elements, just like comedians on stage, talking about some uninteresting things together.

But this time neither of them could laugh, everyone vaguely sensed bad things, but no one wanted to speak them out, as if it were a dreadful wish, if spoken, this dreadful wish would come true.

”So, where’s Hig?”

In the end, Mrs. Van Rudd asked.

The train appeared at the horizon, spewing billowing steam, it began to slow down and headed towards the station platform.

”He went back to the place he always longed for, that seaside town. Because he was so happy, he didn’t have time to say goodbye to you, bought himself a ticket, and just left.”

Lorenzo lit a cigarette for himself, talking nonsense.

”Is he happy?”

”I’m not sure.”

”Is home far?”

”It seems a bit far, so far that maybe he will never be seen again.”

”How did he die?”

”I don’t want to recall these anymore.”

The atmosphere fell silent, under the warm sunlight, it was like an icehouse here.

After that storm, Lorenzo found his true self and that true authority. In this long month, he did many things, including the use of Authority·Gabriel.

This is a wonderful authority. Generally speaking, authority needs to be directed and triggered through the alchemy matrix on a Demon Hunter’s body, but Authority·Gabriel is different. Lorenzo clearly carries the alchemy matrix directed as Authority·Medanzo, but he can still use this mysterious authority.

This is a different authority, a deliberately forgotten authority, the understanding of it still needs Lorenzo to explore slowly, and with the help of this authority, Lorenzo traversed through the [Gap], easily invading the Purification Mechanism and obtaining intelligence about the subsequent series of events.

”Sorry, I brought trouble back home.”

After a while, Lorenzo said in a low voice.

Though he never said it, Lorenzo cherished this part of life where he could be a ”normal person”, live like a normal person, have a landlord with a strange temper, a weird roommate, sometimes have a late-night snack together, celebrate a holiday.

Lorenzo treasured these, so he never brought any trouble home, this was his first mistake, and it would be his last.
