Gun of Ashes

The sky turned into a chaotic grey and white, the storm illuminated by lightning, they were like schools of fish swimming in the clouds, their silver bodies advancing with the wild winds. Under this vast outlook, only two zeppelins moved forward, one behind the other.

Perhaps even they could not determine their direction; the scenery remained unchanged no matter where they looked. Like the world after death, everything was monotonous grey and white, and no lengthy journey could reach the so-called end, only wandering in this desolate world like a living corpse, until eternity.

”What is… that?”

Inside the Sailing Dawn, Gareth stood up, looking at the Reichenbach with a face full of shock.

Since a few minutes ago, the bizarre hateful flesh had completely wrapped around the entire zeppelin, like a demon’s nest traveling high above, ready to unleash calamity onto the ground at any moment.

The terrifying erosion had slightly affected this space; everyone wore a calm face with solemn expressions, all cannons were prepared, he absolutely would not allow such a thing to safely land on the ground, as it would only trigger a larger scale demon wave.

But at this moment, the Sailing Dawn shook violently, and something flew past in the next instant. Gareth could see the black shadow crashing into the flesh nest amidst the flickering lightning.

His gaze tightened; if Gareth wasn’t mistaken, it was an Armor of Original Sin, codenamed Black Angel.

Just what… happened.

In the cabin, Merlin grasped the handrail beside him, watching the breach forcefully torn open by the Black Angel, wild wind and rain surged in through it.

His calm expression gradually vanished, and then he laughed recklessly.

Indeed, his guess was correct; just like the deadly duel with Lawrence before, Lorenzo’s revival wasn’t a coincidence; some unknown power was protecting him, or perhaps… cursing him. Lorenzo Holmes couldn’t die, at least not today.

Inside the nest of flesh, Lorenzo looked at the Armor of Original Sin beside him in shock, beneath the cold steel, the blazing flame rose incessantly.

Countless thoughts flowed through his mind, and suddenly he seemed to understand everything.

So that’s how it is.

”So… you’ve always been here.”

The ascending flame illuminated his battered face, after the calm he genuinely laughed within this hell.

Lorenzo was never alone.

The dense armor engulfed him once more, and white flames surged from the gaps. This time, the white flames began to spread; they burned wildly, spreading over the surrounding flesh, while the blazing fire was also assimilated by it, pale pillars of fire gushed from beneath the Reichenbach’s iron walls.

The scorching Purifying Flame burned away the flesh on the iron walls, along with the structure beneath, leaving only a scarlet skeleton. The light gases began to seep out following the rupture of the airbags, pure white hell descended upon the Reichenbach, simultaneously it began to plummet towards the ground.

Like a dead giant whale sinking into the deep and dark sea.

Perhaps all that just now were mere illusions, or maybe 047 truly returned; but now, it didn’t matter anymore. Lorenzo pulled out a broken Nail Sword from the sticky flesh, while behind him, the Black Angel also wielded Iron Feather and the longsword, as if it were Lorenzo’s shadow.

No one piloted this armor, yet it moved strangely.

”Is it you? 016, 047.”

Lorenzo whispered softly, though perhaps it was merely an illusion earlier, no one answered him, only the iron sound of swinging the sword resonated.

Scarlet thorns approached from all directions; over this prolonged period, the out-of-control Yanar Demon Hunter had entirely merged with the entire Reichenbach, if Lorenzo guessed correctly, he now resided within this colossal demon’s heart chamber.

This is the weakest part of the demon; its core existed within, also the fiercest defensive position, the dead bodies were dragged up by the flesh.

But faced with this colossal enemy, Lorenzo appeared indifferent.

Today was a good day, he was delighted.

He couldn’t die yet, absolutely couldn’t die; he hadn’t slain all demons yet, nor witnessed that beautiful Golden Era, even saying for those living in his memories.

What supported the weary will was the so-called courage, he gripped the Nail Sword once more, as if possessed with boundless power, he strode forward with a loud roar.

”A doomed beast! Ignorant fear! Hopeless anticipation!”

Iron Feather and sword blades interweaved, the endless thorns shattered under its slash, scorching blood rain descended like falling red threads.

The Black Angel blocked most of the attack, and under its protection, Lorenzo’s pace began to speed up, eventually turning into a strenuous sprint. Countless corpses stood up, but he showed no fear, as if behind Lorenzo followed a mighty force.

”A mortal at the end! Trembling fright! Heartfelt hope!”

The twisted and broken Nail Sword slashed, he was quick as lightning, vanishing in a flash, cutting off the heads of the deceased, and the bodies fell once again, flesh and bones disintegrated under the burning iron.

He was exhausted, filled with fury.

”Once dying repeatedly!”

This time he pulled out the only remaining weapon on him, a shotgun firing at his obstructing enemies; it was Lorenzo’s last bullet entirely crafted from Holy Silver.
