Gun of Ashes

Chapter 403: Chapter 53 Who is he?

You can clearly feel that after these two Knight Commanders took over, the atmosphere of the Perpetual Motion Pump completely changed, perhaps also related to the current situation, everything became more rigorous and cold.

Guards with weapons were stationed outside the door, and in the tightly guarded conference room, there were only Lorenzo and those two Knight Commanders. Lorenzo seemed very wary of these two strangers, as he couldn’t display many of his unpleasant traits since they weren’t acquaintances.

But what happened next surprised Lorenzo slightly, or rather, he didn’t expect it. He was somewhat struggling to sit in the chair, watching the woman beside him and her strange gaze.

Percival circled around Lorenzo several times, as if inspecting some rare animal, exclaiming repeatedly as she looked.

”Gawain! Gawain! Is this what a Demon Hunter looks like?”

Lorenzo’s face froze but he remained seated in the chair, saying nothing.

Gawain’s stern expression also seemed to melt under these casual words, and just as he was about to stop Percival, she leaned closer to Lorenzo and continued to inquire.

”They say you’ve... transplanted demon blood? I heard you can even catch fire!”

Her eyes were full of curiosity, and after hesitating for a moment, she cautiously asked Lorenzo.

”That... you’re Mr. Holmes, right?”

”What’s up?” Lorenzo sensed something was off.

Gawain also realized something was wrong, but just as he was about to scold, he heard Percival say to Lorenzo.

”Could you do us a favor and perform a fire-breathing trick?”

”?”

”Alright! That’s enough!”

Gawain finally couldn’t take it anymore and shouted angrily. Seeing Gawain upset, Percival put away her mischievous grin and sat back down, leaving Lorenzo filled with confusion and embarrassment.

”Please don’t take it to heart, after all, we don’t usually station at Old Dunling, constantly moving outside, and we’ve only heard of you until today, seeing you in person for the first time...” Gawain tried to explain something.

”Like a bunch of damn curious babies?”

Lorenzo began to think these people truly had issues.

”Of course!”

Even more bizarre was that Percival actually responded loudly, seemingly becoming neurotic after prolonged contact with demons.

”You’re a Demon Hunter! A figure that only exists in our strategic council!” Percival said.

Before the Night of the Holy Arrival, or rather before the new Pope reconnected with the Purification Mechanism after many years, the Demon Hunting Order had always been the top imaginary enemy of the Purification Mechanism. Compared to the Demon Hunting Order, the power of the Purification Mechanism was evidently fragile. In some contingency plans against the Demon Hunting Order, they were even prepared for an all-out sacrifice.

But now, a member of this top enemy not only defected to their side but also helped a lot. After lifting the hostile relationship, it’s hard for anyone not to be curious about Demon Hunters, just like the curiosity towards demons.

Clearly, Percival didn’t want to hide her curiosity in all of this, and now she revealed it without any concealment.

”Keep quiet! Percival!”

Gawain said again, with his tone growing increasingly firm, Percival finally settled down.

At this point, Lorenzo began to understand the strange dynamics here. It was evident among these two knights, the real leader was Gawain.

”Joey said you have information regarding the ’Revelation’?” Gawain went straight to the point.

It wasn’t hard to guess that one of the missions’ goals was also the ’Revelation’, on the surface, the two sides were amiable, but disputes were ongoing beneath.

”Yes, but it’s unrelated to the whereabouts of the ’Revelation’, rather it’s about another group looking to obtain the ’Revelation’ entering the scene.”

Lorenzo said directly.

”Another group? Who are they?”

Gawain looked like he was facing a great enemy. The situation was already chaotic enough, and now there was going to be another group?

”The exiles of the Evangelical Church, led by Cardinal Miguel, presumably you should also be aware of these, right?”

This kind of information, Lorenzo didn’t believe the Purification Mechanism wouldn’t know about it.

”Of course we are aware, in fact, it’s also one of the many objectives of our mission; they hope to collaborate with our Nordro Company to hunt down those exiles.”

Gawain wasn’t familiar with Lorenzo, this was an exchange of information, and providing Lorenzo with some intelligence was within his allowance.

”Isn’t this obvious?”

These were things Lorenzo could figure out easily, and he continued.

”I have reliable news that Cardinal Shermans, one of the exiles, has already arrived at Old Dunling...”

Lorenzo once again remembered the carriage that knocked him away, this was considered a disgrace in his Demon Hunter career.

”He is no simple exile, he has certain forces assisting him within Old Dunling.”

If not, those people couldn’t have escaped from Lorenzo’s grasp, he continued.

”And their objective is also simple, which is the ’Revelation’.”

Upon hearing this, Gawain’s expression changed slightly, but after a slight pause, he asked again.

”Why are you so certain?”

”Use your brains, Knight Commander!”

Inexpressible emotions surged into Lorenzo’s heart, and he shouted loudly.

”The ’Revelation’ can produce an endless supply of Secret Blood. Even without creating stable Demon Hunters, just using it to create chaotic demons would form a terrifying army. With it, these exiles could counterattack back to the Seven Hills. Isn’t such a simple truth clear to you?”
