Super Gene Hunting Ground

Xing Zhe was taken aback, then laughed heartily, and said:

”I knew that Barro’s drinks weren’t free, you’d definitely want me to tell you a story.”

”Xing Zhe, let me tell you, old brother heard you were blown... went missing, I was really upset at the time. The academy organized a rescue team to search the 101 Cultivation Field, and I was among them.

I saw the site myself, the power of the nuclear generator explosion was massive, it blew apart the entire mountain. We searched for a long time but didn’t find any clue of you two, everyone guessed you were gone, and reluctantly had to abandon the rescue, declaring you missing.

Oh, even Vice Dean Deng personally came.”

Xing Zhe listened, somewhat surprised,

”Vice Dean Deng personally came? Seems we, Yang Xiao and I, have quite the reputation.”

Barro laughed and said:

”You and Yang Xiao are both Emperor Level Evolvers, the academy suddenly losing two Emperor Level Evolvers is no small matter,

Oh, come on, how did you two survive?”

Barro was very curious. At that time, they searched all over the underground cave at 101 Cultivation Field but found no trace of Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe. Yet these two appeared again five months later, leaving him truly perplexed about the situation.

Barro is a curious person too.

Regarding how to describe their life in the underground corridors and how they escaped, Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe had long unified their statement.

Xing Zhe smiled wryly and said:

”Oh, Barro, old brother, how did you search in the underground corridors? Why didn’t you find me? Yang Xiao and I were in a corner of the underground corridor at 101 Cultivation Field, initially stunned by the massive explosion.

We didn’t know how long we were unconscious before waking up. Fortunately, we had a lot of dry food with us, later found underground water in the cavern, so we barely survived.”

Yang Xiao added:

”Xing Zhe, it was normal for them not to find us. Our corridor was entirely collapsed, hundreds of meters long, completely buried. Thankfully, the cave we hid in wasn’t crushed, or we would have been long dead.”

”Yeah, we both literally got a second chance at life. When we regained consciousness, we were initially waiting for the academy to send someone to rescue us, but after waiting for over ten days with no one coming, we had no choice but to save ourselves, starting to dig our way out.

However, we were over five hundred meters underground, with no lighting and no idea which direction to dig. Several times we dug in the wrong direction, but finally managed to create an escape tunnel. Praise heaven.”

Barro looked at Xing Zhe and chuckled,

”Come here, let me toast to your safe return again.”

The three clinked their glasses and drank in one gulp.

Barro put down his glass.

”Xing Zhe, what did you eat during those five months to survive?”

Barro wasn’t a fool, not believing everything Xing Zhe said.

Someone living trapped in a corridor for five months, food would be a real challenge.

Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe had already anticipated that if they couldn’t provide a satisfactory answer, everyone would doubt their explanation.

Xing Zhe chuckled and said:

”Luckily, the nuclear generator explosion fractured the underground corridor, opening up an underground river. The river was full of small fish. Yang Xiao and I survived on these fish for the past few months, or we’d have starved to death.”

Barro looked half-believing at Xing Zhe, glancing at Yang Xiao.

”Really?”

”Of course, why would I lie to you? Wuji Island is surrounded by the ocean, subterranean rivers aren’t unusual. Some underground rivers even connect directly to the ocean.”

What Xing Zhe said was true, Wuji Island does have many underground rivers. Just looking at the academy’s 68 student villas, the hot spring inside is actually water welling up from an underground river.

Moreover, Wuji Island also has large underground caverns outdoors, all connected to underground rivers.

Fish in the underground rivers isn’t rare either.

Barro refilled his glass,

”Come on, let me congratulate you two on your safe return once more.”

”Thank you, Barro Captain.”

”Oh, Yang Xiao, stop calling me Captain every time. I’m older than you, if you regard me highly, just call me Brother Bar, and I’ll call you brother, okay?”

Barro’s real age is at least over eighty, Emperor Level Primary Level Realm.

Yang Xiao chuckled,

”Alright, Brother Bar, thanks for the hospitality, cheers!”

”Cheers!”

The three, satisfied with food and drink, left the cafeteria.

The two bid farewell to Barro, preparing to return to their villa.

Barro remembered something and said,

”Brothers, you can’t return to your villa today. Your Identity Jades are temporarily disabled, you need to wait until tomorrow for the permissions to be restored. And also,”

Barro hesitated here.

Xing Zhe laughed and said:

”Old Bar, what’s with the hesitation, just say it.”

”Ahem, here’s the thing, because you two were missing for five months, your villa has been rented out by someone else. So even if your Identity Jade permissions are restored, you still can’t return to your villa temporarily.”

Xing Zhe and Yang Xiao exchanged a glance.

Xing Zhe had been at Wuji Academy for decades, and this was his first time encountering such a situation.

”So what now?”

”You two can stay at the academy’s hotel for tonight; I’ll report your situation to the leaders tomorrow and see how they plan to resolve the villa issue.”

Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe nodded, said goodbye to Barro, and went to the academy’s hotel to book a room for the night.

The next day, the news of Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe surviving the ordeal and returning spread throughout the whole academy.

Xing Zhe punched the guard captain on duty hard, and this incident circulated within the academy that very night.

Chi Long was sleeping in his villa when urgent doorbell rings sounded from outside.

Chi Long jumped up, yelling:

”Who the hell is disturbing my sleep early in the morning, have some decency, will you?”

Chi Long dashed out, glancing through the Defense Light Screen and immediately spotting Chu Tian’s figure.

Chi Long opened the door, yawned, and complained:

”Chu Tian, why are you bothering my sweet dreams early in the morning, have some civic sense?”

Chu Tian glanced at Chi Long, his face serious, saying gravely:

”Chi Long, something serious has happened.”

”Damn, what happened that’s got you so shaken, what’s going on?”

”Xing Zhe and Yang Xiao returned to the academy last night.”

”Ugh, how big a deal is that, Xing Zhe and Yang Xiao returned to the academy... What! You mean Xing Zhe and Yang Xiao have returned to the academy?”

Chi Long instantly jumped up, looking at Chu Tian in shock.

Chi Long suddenly remembered that five months ago, he and Chu Tian ambushed Yang Xiao and Xing Zhe, forcing them into the underground corridors of 101 Cultivation Field with poison,

The nuclear generator explosion was also triggered by Chi Long.

Now Xing Zhe and Yang Xiao actually returned?

”How is that possible, weren’t they blown to pieces? Vice Dean Deng led a rescue team, returned to announce their missing status, and their villas were reclaimed by the academy,

How could they return to the academy, did you see them with your own eyes?”
