Super Gene Hunting Ground

Inside the Hunting Base Camp of Flying Leopard Academy, a small temporary hut is housing dozens of instruments monitoring the distribution of students.

Each student has an Alarm Jade Token, which, even without sending a distress signal, appears as a moving bright spot on the current monitoring screen.

If a distress signal is sent, the bright spot will turn from white to red on the screen.

”Beep beep...”

An alarm sounded from one of the monitoring devices.

The monitoring staff glanced at it, and their face changed as they hurried to find Vice Dean Deng Nan.

Vice Dean Deng Nan is the chief commander of this hunting competition and is stationed at the Hunting Base Camp.

”Dean Deng, something’s wrong,”

Deng Nan looked up at the staff member and said calmly:

”Has someone sent a distress signal?”

The competition has been going for about one-third of the time. As students continue to go deeper into the Flying Leopard Mountain Range, they increasingly encounter high-level mutated demon beasts. Many teams send out distress signals when they can’t defeat the beasts.

So, there have been frequent alarms these days.

As the chief commander of the competition, Deng Nan was used to it.

”Dean Deng, no one sent out a distress signal.”

”Then why did you say something was wrong?”

”It’s more serious than a distress signal.”

”What’s so serious?”

”Someone has breached the 200-kilometer forbidden zone and entered the Flying Leopard Mountain Range.”

”What?”

Deng Nan sat up straight in his chair, looking at the staff who reported.

”Someone broke through the 200-kilometer forbidden zone and is going deeper into the Flying Leopard Mountain Range, and it seems like there are five or six of them.”

”Do you know who they are?”

”Not yet, because the tracking jade token doesn’t provide specific information, only that someone has breached the 200-kilometer forbidden zone. Dean Deng, what should we do? Should we send a rescue team to bring them back?”

Deng Nan thought for a moment, waved his hand, and said:

”There’s no need. As students of Flying Leopard Academy, everyone knows that beyond the 200 kilometers is a forbidden zone, and these few people are obviously doing this deliberately.

Since they are so confident and think they are capable of entering the forbidden zone beyond 200 kilometers, then let them go. Some students won’t realize their limits until they hit a wall. Perhaps this will teach them a lesson.”

The staff was stunned, ”Ah, you’re letting them enter?”

”What can you do about it? Some students have their heads too high in the clouds and won’t realize their limits until they hit a wall. Let them be.”

”Yes.”

...

Two days later, the alarm went off again on the monitor. The staff checked and again found Vice Dean Deng Nan.

”Dean, something’s wrong, someone has crossed the 200-kilometer forbidden zone again.”

”Hmm?”

Deng Nan looked surprised at the staff.

”And this time it seems to be just one person.”

”One person?”

Deng Nan was even more surprised.

If the previous team had crossed the forbidden zone, it could be understood. After all, there were six people, and by relying on the strength of the team, they could survive in the Flying Leopard Forest forbidden zone, as long as their luck wasn’t too bad.

But for one person to cross the forbidden zone—who is this person? They have some guts.

Deng Nan thought for a moment and laughed:

”This time, in order to compete for the Dragon Slayer Sword, everyone’s going all out, even running into the forbidden zone. Fine, let them be. I want to see if they can make it back from there.”

...

In the following days, three more teams entered the forbidden zone.

Deng Nan felt things were getting out of hand and quickly informed Dean Xinghai.

The Dean hurried over.

”Deng Nan, what’s going on? Have the students in this cohort all gone mad? How dare they storm the forbidden zone?”

”Well, it’s because of that Two-star Divine Weapon Dragon Slayer Sword causing a ruckus. With such a big lure, wouldn’t these students give their all?”

Xinghai was taken aback, then laughed,

”Indeed, where there is a heavy reward, there are always brave men. One has to push people a bit; otherwise, they wouldn’t know their own strength.”

Deng Nan sighed:

”Just afraid of accidents. Those daring to group up and enter the forbidden zone are elite students. If, if something goes wrong, the loss would be huge.

There’s another situation, it’s bad news.”

”Hmm?”

”According to the monitoring information, at least ten students’ tracking jade tokens have stopped moving, which likely indicates something has happened.”

Xinghai’s expression changed upon hearing this and then sighed:

”This too is something unavoidable. You can’t grow towering trees in a greenhouse. Since it’s training, there will always be risks. Consider it tuition fee. After the grand hunt is over, try to retrieve their tracking jade tokens and give their families a full explanation.

Additionally, organize an emergency team to be ready to rescue those rascals who broke into the forbidden zone at a moment’s notice. Sigh, they all have quite the guts!”

...

Liang Bao hesitated for a moment and then directly entered the forbidden zone beyond 200 kilometers.

Liang Bao had been cultivating at Flying Leopard Academy for decades and had hit a massive bottleneck, unable to break through to the Emperor Level, stuck at the Peak of the Empire Level Advanced realm.

For the last five or six years, no matter how diligently Liang Bao cultivated, there was almost no progress in the Genetic Evolution Realm.

Of course, over these years, he had become very familiar with some of the academy’s advanced Cultivation Techniques and Skills.

Even though Liang Bao’s family was wealthy, Two-star Divine Weapons weren’t something money could buy. For this Dragon Slayer Sword, Liang Bao was determined to get it.

Liang Bao held a Black Long Sword, which was a one-star divine weapon.

With Liang Bao’s level in the Genetic Evolution Realm and his mastery of numerous powerful Cultivation Techniques, Liang Bao fought all over the Flying Leopard Mountain Range and made significant kills.

As of now, the level and number of demon beasts he has slain rank him among the top of everyone.

However, Liang Bao did not let down his guard. He knew that among the top ten on the combat power list, Fan Chen was the one most likely to contest him for the first place.

Moreover, there were others. If they competed as a team, Liang Bao worried that his demon beast kills wouldn’t be enough. So, he resolutely entered the Flying Leopard Mountain Range forbidden zone.

After entering, Liang Bao fought several difficult battles, consecutively killing a few high-level demon beasts at the Empire Level Advanced realm, boosting his confidence significantly and causing him to go deeper into the mountains.

...

Meanwhile, Yang Xiao, Xiao He, and their team were also going deeper into the Flying Leopard Mountain Range. Now, with the addition of Fan Chen, another Red Sun Sword was added, greatly enhancing the team’s combat strength.

Three days later, they gathered around, barbecuing the meat of a high-level demon beast from the Empire Level Advanced realm, chatting as they ate.

”Yang Xiao, I suddenly remembered something,”

Fan Chen said while gnawing on a meat bone.

”Hmm? What is it?”

”Do you know why the area beyond 200 kilometers is set as a forbidden zone by Flying Leopard Academy?”

”Why? Isn’t it because of the high level of demon beasts here?” Wang Qian asked back.

Fan Chen chuckled:

”That’s only one of the reasons, there’s another reason the academy has never publicly stated or explained. I remember hearing Dean Xinghai mention it once,

he said,”

Fan Chen paused, suddenly noticing everyone’s eyes on him, then deliberately stopped and got up to cut some meat from the beast’s carcass behind him.

Everyone looked at Fan Chen disdainfully and cursed:

”What did the Dean say? Would it kill you to finish it in one go?”

”Fan Chen, don’t keep us in suspense like this.”

”Hurry up and say it.”

”You won’t get any meat if you don’t speak,”

Fan Chen chuckled and said:

”Don’t worry, let me roast another piece of meat, then I’ll tell you slowly. This story is quite amazing, it’s something Dean Xinghai personally experienced.”
