Super Gene Hunting Ground

Where is the military? Why haven’t we seen our troops? Brother Gu, when you were in Wentian City, did you ever see our troops or government agency personnel?”

”No, all military and conquest institution personnel have vanished. The entire city is left with only a portion of young people. I’ve had someone tally the numbers; the survivors are all youths aged between 18 to 22 years old, exactly the stage from college freshmen to senior graduates. Of course, there are also some societal drifters in this age range.”

”Our statistics are the same.”

”So are ours.”

...

The three talked for a long time, roughly exchanging some information, understanding the current situation, and agreeing on some joint actions.

”Discussing rebellion against the aliens is still too dangerous for now. Today’s discussion must end here, and after you go back, you must not mention it to anyone.”

”Mhm, right.”

”We each need to secretly gather information about these people, including their daily habits, strengths and weaknesses, and also their motives.”

”Everyone must still hasten to improve their Genetic Evolution Ability, as it is the core ability for ultimately resisting the alien invasion.”

”Let’s meet once a month, using the pretext of the City Alliance meetings.”

...

The three returned to Magic City area. Gu Beifeng went back to Wentian City with a few guards.

Yang Xiao said to Du Tianxing,

”Brother Du, I want to bring Gong Yu back with me to Nanmu City. He has lost an arm, and since I killed Xie Dong, he can no longer go back to Ice River Academy. It’s better for him to stay with me from now on.”

”Heh, this is your personal matter. You decide, I won’t interfere.”

”Great, thank you, Brother Du, for accommodating. Also, I met a pair of adolescent siblings in Magic City who took to me at first sight. They have no relatives here and are all alone; let me bring them back to Nanmu City too, yes?”

”Sure.”

Yang Xiao told Gong Yu he would take him to Nanmu City, and Gong Yu was very happy.

The two rode Flame Horses and took Giant Eagles, arriving at the underground garage where the Yang siblings lived.

This garage was unguarded; Yang Xiao directly entered with Gong Yu.

Upon reaching the door, Yang Xiao ran into the guy who he had fought last time; the guy trembled at the sight of Yang Xiao and immediately bowed, saying,

”Brother Yang, hello, you’re here.”

Yang Xiao nodded and said,

”Where are the Yang siblings?”

”They took everyone to dig for Ice Fish. They should be on their way back by now.”

”Pfft!”

Yang Xiao couldn’t hold back and laughed out loud.

”Brother Kai?”

A month apart and Yang Kai had become ’Brother Kai’ in everyone’s hearts?

The guy laughed awkwardly and scratched his head, saying,

”Brother Kai is amazing now. He and his sister led everyone and recently defeated two competitors, seizing a stretch of Wangchuan River for fishing Ice Fish.”

Yang Xiao knew that with the Yang siblings’ level of evolution, they could not make it to the Ice Sea tens of kilometers away to fish for Ice Fish; they could only dig in nearby rivers.

”Hmm, I’ll wait for them to return.”

”Brother Yang, please come inside. I’ll light a fire for you to warm up and make a cup of tea.”

The guy led Yang Xiao and Gong Yu into the garage enthusiastically yet carefully, lighting a fire and putting a kettle on to boil tea.

Yang Xiao, looking at the underground garage, could not help but recall the difficult yet warm days at Kongming Academy.

In any era, the life of those at the bottom is alike in hardship, and only by ceaselessly improving oneself can one have a day to rise.

Brother Hao made tea for both Yang Xiao and Gong Yu, who warmed themselves by the fire and enjoyed their drinks. Half an hour later, a noisy clamor of voices came from outside the underground garage entrance.

The awaiting Brother Hao immediately said with excitement:

”Brother Kai and the others are back, I’ll go greet them.”

After speaking, he dashed out.

Today, the Yang Kai siblings brought back quite a number of Ice Fish along with some Genetic Fragments and equipment, which made everyone very happy. This change for all the people at the underground garage was brought by the assistance from Yang Xiao a month ago.

Even though they were at the very bottom, they still faced fierce competition for survival, resolving everything with their fists.

Since the last time the Yang Kai siblings received equipment from Yang Xiao, as well as a big bottle of Genetic Potion and a piece of Crystal Cake, their progress has been exceptionally fast. Both are approaching the Primordial Gene Primary Level, and once they step into the Primary Level, they will be able to obtain a Soul Skill. Currently, everyone greatly respects the siblings, hoping they would lead them out of poverty to wealth.

The Yang Kai siblings, along with the others, fought in a few contests, defeating their opponents and snatching some survival resources, earning a bit of a reputation in the vicinity.

As soon as Yang Kai and Yang Ying entered the underground garage, Brother Hao rushed up to them:

”Brother Kai, Sister Ying, your cousin is here.”

”Our cousin?”

”It’s Brother Yang Xiao.”

Upon hearing this, their eyes widened, and they excitedly asked:

”Where is he?”

”He’s inside by the fire, I made them tea...”

The two siblings were already running towards them.

”Brother Yang Xiao!”

Upon seeing Yang Xiao, Yang Ying threw herself at him.

Yang Xiao hugged Yang Ying, patting her shoulder, and said with a smile:

”You’ve grown up and become prettier over the past month!”

Yang Ying pouted coyly:

”Hmph, you just know how to tease me.”

Yang Xiao then looked at Yang Kai, who seemed to have changed a lot in a month, becoming more robust and stronger.

This was due to the effects of Genetic Evolution.

”Let me introduce you, this is Gong Yu, from Ice River Academy, a strong individual at the Enhanced Gene Intermediate Level.”

Upon hearing this, the siblings’ eyes widened again. Although they also knew Yang Xiao had a high Genetic Evolution Level and a mysterious background, for Yang Xiao to casually introduce a friend at the Enhanced Gene Intermediate Level, such an existence was like a deity in their eyes.

Gong Yu extended his right hand, and the two quickly shook it, calling him ”Brother Gong Yu.”

Brother Hao and the others around them were equally wide-eyed, their hearts filled with envy of the good fortune the Yang Kai siblings had.

”Yang Kai, I am the City King of Nanmu City. I would like to take you two to Nanmu City to live with me. If you two are willing, you can pack your things now and leave with me immediately. If you’re not willing, stay here. Nanmu City and Magic City will soon open a teleportation passage, and you can come visit me there later.”

Upon hearing this, Yang Ying immediately responded with joy:

”As long as I can be with Brother Yang Xiao, I’ll go anywhere.”

Yang Kai also nodded, ”I have the same thoughts as my sister.”

”Alright, take ten minutes to pack your things.”

The Yang Kai siblings quickly ran to their Mercedes-Benz Audi and packed a few clothes, then returned to Yang Xiao’s side.

”Brother Yang Xiao, we’re ready, we can go now.”

For the siblings, being with Yang Xiao felt as blissful as finding their mother.

Yang Ying, holding onto Yang Xiao’s arm, looked like he was her own brother—no, her real brother Yang Kai never got this kind of treatment.
