Chapter 303: Chapter 303: The Luxurious Mercedes-Benz Bedroom (Extra for Alliance Hierarch, 5 updates)

(Thanks to book friend 1710**41 for the reward, becoming the first Alliance Hierarch of this book!)

Yang Kai and his sister Yang Ying knew that if the two of them walked back like this, they would probably be robbed of the instant noodles they carried, which were worth 500 Crystal Coins after all.

The rules of the post-apocalyptic world are all built upon the foundation of strength.

The Nanmu City where Yang Xiao resided had just over 20,000 people, relatively easy to manage, but Magic City now had more than 200,000 people, making it much harder to manage, especially for underclass individuals like the siblings Yang Ying and Yang Kai, whose lives and deaths few would pay attention to.

Yang Kai, as a boy, summoned his courage, holding the Black Sword in his hand, and said:

”Don’t worry, I have a sword.”

In fact, he was just trying to show some courage in front of Yang Xiao; deep down he was still somewhat afraid.

Yang Xiao smiled and patted Yang Kai’s shoulder.

”If you trust me, I will escort you home; I don’t have anything else going on anyway.”

Yang Ying immediately said happily:

”Great, with big brother escorting us, we surely won’t be afraid.”

Hearing Yang Xiao say this, Yang Kai naturally could not ask for more, and quickly said:

”Then we would be troubling Brother Yang Xiao.”

”Don’t mention it. You and I both share the Yang surname; we were one family five hundred years ago, let’s go.”

Yang Xiao gently patted the Flame Horse, indicating for Yang Kai to lead the way.

Yang Ying was a little girl and felt a special warmth towards Yang Xiao; in fact, this was just a glimmer of reliable hope that suddenly appeared amidst their dire straits.

And that hope of reliance was very faint, making them eager to grasp it but afraid to believe it.

Yang Ying admired the Flame Horse riding behind Yang Xiao and said:

”Big brother, your horse is so handsome!”

”Heh, do you want to try sitting on it?”

”Me?”

Yang Ying couldn’t quite believe it.

Yang Xiao stopped, and so did the Flame Horse.

”First touch the Flame Horse with your hand; if it doesn’t reject you, then you can ride it.”

Yang Ying liked the Flame Horse a lot, extended her little hand, touched the fiery red mane of the Flame Horse with slight fear, and quickly retracted her hand.

The Flame Horse gently snorted and did not refuse.

Yang Ying glanced at Yang Xiao.

”It’s okay, touch it again, don’t be afraid, it didn’t reject you.”

Yang Xiao encouraged.

This time, Yang Ying gently but firmly stroked the Flame Horse a few times, feeling its body warmth, and was thrilled inside.

”Can I jump on?”

Yang Xiao asked.

Yang Ying’s current Strength and Agility Attribute were both at 6 points, so it wouldn’t be hard to jump onto the Flame Horse, which was 3 meters tall.

”Yeah, I can jump on, I’m just a bit scared.”

”Don’t be afraid, I’m here, go ahead.”

Yang Xiao said.

Yang Ying nodded, stroked the Flame Horse a few more times, then pushed off with her tiptoes, leaping into the air, surging over three meters high, and landed steadily on the back of the Flame Horse.

The Flame Horse behaved very gently, not moving at all.

”That’s right, let’s go.”

Yang Xiao said to Yang Kai.

Yang Kai looked at his sister and cautioned:

”Be careful not to fall off.”

The three of them walked for over ten minutes and arrived in front of the ruins of a collapsed building.

”The building had eighteen floors before it collapsed. Luckily, the entrance to the underground parking garage was not sealed, and it later became our place to live. We weren’t the only ones there; there were dozens of old neighbors as well.”

Yang Xiao left the Flame Horse near the entrance on an open stretch of land, and the Giant Eagle from the sky also descended and stood together with the Flame Horse.

Seeing this Giant Eagle made Yang Kai and his sister both envious and fearful, very nervous.

”Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you; the Giant Eagle is my good friend. Come on, let’s go see where you live.”

Yang Xiao followed the siblings into the underground parking garage. The lighting inside was very dim, and many cars were parked there, from various brands.

Since it was daytime, most people had gone out to work, and Yang Xiao only saw a few young people sleeping or chatting inside their cars.

Yang Ying pointed to an Audi Q7 SUV excitedly and said:

”That’s where we sleep at night.”

In the dim light, Yang Xiao glanced at the smashed glass of the Q7’s front window, guessing that they stretched their hands into the car to open the door.

Actually, sleeping in the cars of the underground parking garage is not a bad idea.

Yang Xiao took a look inside the car, where there was a jumble of blankets and clothes.

Yang Kai pointed to a neighbouring bright Mercedes-Benz S600 and said,

”This is my bedroom.”

Yang Xiao laughed:

”Quite luxurious!”

The siblings laughed too. The sister was 12, and the brother was a little over 13. They must have known quite a bit about cars before the apocalypse, aware of which were luxurious and which were low-end.

”Where do you cook?”

”There are cars everywhere here, so we can’t build fires, or else they’d explode. About seventy to eighty people live here, all are acquaintances from our neighborhood. We agreed to set up fires and cook in another area of the garage where there are no cars.”

The siblings were very familiar with the layout of the garage, able to walk around easily even with poor lighting.

Yang Xiao followed them to another area with a skylight, where outside light shone into the garage. In a space of several hundred square meters without cars, there were some makeshift stoves made out of bricks, as well as pots, pans, ladles, and other daily utensils, and a lot of firewood piled up inside.

”Big brother Yang Xiao, take a seat, I’ll make a fire for you to roast.”

Yang Ying was very sensible and sweet, bringing a chair over for Yang Xiao to sit down. Yang Kai took a large chunk of snow and put it into the pot, then lit the firewood with a lighter. In a moment, a fire was burning.

The siblings, somewhat excited, stretched their hands over the stove to warm them. The warm glow of the fire cast against their youthful faces stirred a sense of inexplicable heartache in Yang Xiao.

After a while, the water in the pot boiled. Yang Ying scooped up a cup of hot water, then suddenly remembered something and said:

”Brother, do you remember the last time we found a can of tea leaves in the ruins of the store?”

”Uh-huh.”

”Oh come on, you’re so silly. Hurry up and get it, make Brother Yang Xiao a cup.”

Yang Kai was startled, then quickly ran to his Mercedes luxurious bedroom. Shortly after, he came back with a tin can.

This tin can had not been opened before, the seal was still intact with clear tape attached, showing that the two usually could not bear to use it.

It was a can of Tieguanyin tea.

Yang Ying opened the tin, tore open a plastic bag inside, took out some tea leaves and put them into the cup, instantly a fragrance of Tieguanyin wafted through the air.

Yang Ying handed it to Yang Xiao,

”Big brother, here you go.”

”Thank you!”

Yang Xiao took the tea cup, his hands feeling warm, and leaned in to take a sniff.

”Mmm, smells good!”

After taking a small sip, indeed it was good tea.

Seeing how satisfied Yang Xiao looked, Yang Ying became very happy.

The two siblings began discussing what to eat next.

”Brother, let’s eat one pack today, and save the other for later.”

Yang Kai nodded. Such precious instant noodles were not available every day; they had to be treasured and only indulged in when they crave them the most.

Yang Xiao sat by, feeling a wave of sorrow.

(There’s one more Chapter, probably after midnight, don’t wait up.)
