Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]

Chapter 149: Chapter 149 - Bloody shoulders

Yunfeng panted, his body trembling as he tried to haul himself up the shelf. His fingers dug into the cold metal, but his strength was failing. Blood dripped from his wounded shoulder, staining his sleeve.

blood was dripping everywhere. it was blinding.

Above him, Muchen’s hands reached down. ”Come on,” he said, his voice tense, his own body barely steady from exhaustion.

Yunfeng gritted his teeth and grasped his hands. With one strong pull, Muchen hauled him up, their bodies nearly colliding as Yunfeng collapsed onto the shelf, panting heavily.

He sucked in a sharp breath and turned his head, eyes catching sight of his shoulder.

His world stopped. everything was a buzz.

The wound was deep—black veins had already started spreading from the scratch.

”Fuck...” His breath hitched. ”I got scratched.”

A loud, sharp gasp came from across the warehouse.

”HE GOT SCRATCHED!”

Hana’s scream cut through the air like a knife. Her hands flew to her mouth, her body shaking as she struggled to climb off the shelf. ”Yunfeng! Yunfeng!!”

”No!” Qiu Yue grabbed her, his arms wrapping tightly around her trembling form. ”Stay here!” His voice was firm but laced with something softer—fear, grief. ”Don’t be reckless! We don’t know how bad it is yet!”

Muchen wasn’t moving.

He was just staring.

Staring at the blood pooling down Yunfeng’s arm, at the dark veins crawling across his skin.

”Yun...” His voice cracked. He scooted closer, his hand trembling as he reached out—

Yunfeng flinched away.

”No... no...” His breath came out in sharp, uneven gasps, his hands clutching his own hair. His body shook violently as tears welled up in his eyes. ”I’m so sorry...” His voice was barely above a whisper.

His free hand drifted to his stomach, fingers pressing against the place where life had once been growing.

”I failed...” His voice broke. ”I failed to protect it... I’m infected...”

His breath hitched on a sob. He curled in on himself, his entire body wracked with quiet, gasping cries.

Muchen snapped out of his trance.

”No.” He surged forward, grabbing Yunfeng and pulling him into his arms.

”Let go! LET GO!*” Yunfeng thrashed, panic fueling his strength. ”It will spread! You can’t touch me! Let me go!”

”I don’t care!” Muchen’s arms only tightened around him. His body ached, his stomach burned, but he refused to let go.

”We can find a cure... we will find a cure...” Muchen’s voice shook, his hands pressing desperately against Yunfeng’s back, trying to keep him close. ”It’s not proven! Not everyone turns! Maybe you’re different! I won’t let you die!”

Tears spilled from his eyes as he cupped Yunfeng’s face, forcing him to look at him.

”You are NOT allowed to die before me!” His voice broke with raw desperation. ”No! I won’t allow it!”

Yunfeng’s sobs grew heavier, his body trembling violently. His blood-soaked hands clawed at Muchen’s shirt. ”You shouldn’t touch me...” he whimpered. ”I think it can even spread through the air... I don’t know... I don’t know... Let go. LET GO!”

His fists pounded against Muchen’s back, but the man refused to move.

”I WON’T LET GO!” Muchen shouted, gripping him even tighter, as if letting go would mean losing him forever. ”You bastard! You can’t leave me! I WON’T ALLOW IT!”

Yunfeng sobbed in his arms, his strength slowly fading, his fingers tightening in Muchen’s shirt.

The tall zombie snarled, its long, grotesque arms lashing out like whips. One massive hand slammed against the shelf beside them, making the entire structure tremble violently. Dust and broken metal rained down.

Muchen wiped his face roughly, his hands trembling as he sniffled back his tears. He couldn’t cry now. Yunfeng needed him.

”You’re bleeding out,” he said hoarsely, forcing himself to focus. His fingers reached for the torn fabric wrapped around his own waist—the makeshift straps he’d used to tie the mattress to his back. In one swift motion, he yanked a strip loose and pressed it against Yunfeng’s wound.

The blood was so warm. Too warm.

Muchen tried to tie it tight, but the fabric was too short. ”Shit...” he hissed under his breath, panic rising.

His fingers brushed against the torn flesh again, and suddenly, more blood gushed out—not just red, but dark, inky black.

His chest constricted.

”No...” His voice cracked as his eyes started to blur with fresh tears. ”No, it’s okay. It’s okay—you won’t die.” His hands shook as he fumbled to stop the bleeding.

He needed more fabric.

His desperate gaze darted to Jai, who was sitting motionless, his shoulders trembling, his face pale.

”Jai! Your shirt!” Muchen barked. ”Now!”

Jai startled, his breath hitching. Without hesitation, he yanked off his shirt, his hands unsteady as he shoved it toward Muchen.

Muchen grabbed it and immediately wrapped it around Yunfeng’s shoulder, tying it as tightly as he could. ”This will stop the bleeding,” he murmured, more to himself than anyone else. His hands lingered for a second, pressing against Yunfeng’s body, feeling the heat beneath his skin. It was too much. Too hot.

His throat clenched.

”We’ll get you checked by a doctor,” he muttered, his voice breaking. ”A doctor... we just need a doctor.”

His desperate gaze snapped to Qiu Yue.

The man was holding onto Hana, keeping her from jumping down the shelves. Her muffled sobs filled the air as she struggled in his grip.

”You!” Muchen shouted, his voice filled with raw desperation. ”You researched this, right? This infection! It doesn’t spread by scratches, right?! It won’t, right?!”

Silence.

Qiu Yue didn’t answer.

His lips parted, but no words came out. His expression told them everything.

Muchen’s stomach dropped.

His breath turned shallow.

He turned back to Yunfeng—his Yunfeng—his fingers clenched around the fabric tied around his shoulder. His gaze followed the black veins spreading across his arm, the dark blood pooling beneath the bandage.

The truth was right in front of them.

There was no denying it.

Yunfeng was already infected.

He had nothing to do about it.
