Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

A thousand‑zhang thunder sun floated in the sky, dazzling bolts of lightning dancing across its surface.

The ringing thunder spread far and wide, and the terrifying power contained within it made the corners of Lin Langtian’s mouth curve faintly.

”So this is the Thunder Ancestral Symbol…”

His burning gaze locked onto the thunder sun. Looking closely, it was as if the lightning was slowly being peeled away.

At the very center of the sun, an ancient symbol could be seen. Twisted and curling, it seemed like the very first bolt of lightning birthed at the dawn of heaven and earth.

Ancient and boundless.

Carrying the might of heavenly punishment.

At the sight of the Thunder Ancestral Symbol, a flash of heat surged in Lin Langtian’s eyes. Among the Eight Ancestral Symbols, in terms of pure offensive and destructive power, only the Flame and Thunder Symbols could truly stand at the very peak.

But the Flame Ancestral Symbol now lay in Mo Luo’s hands, and Lin Langtian doubted they were close enough yet for him to borrow it, even for a few days. That made Lin Dong’s Thunder Ancestral Symbol the best target for now.

”Many thanks, Brother Dong.”

Tearing his gaze away from the symbol, Lin Langtian clasped his fists toward Lin Dong with a smile.

”No need to stand on ceremony, Brother Langtian. This was our agreement from the start. I’m just keeping my promise,” Lin Dong replied with a grin and a wave of his hand.

”In that case, I won’t be polite. I’ll just borrow this Thunder Ancestral Symbol for a few days,” Lin Langtian said, smiling. His sleeve flicked out, and the symbol at the heart of the thunder sun was drawn into his palm.

”Go ahead, Brother Langtian. I’ll stand guard for you,” Lin Dong said warmly.

”Then I’ll trouble you.”

Lin Langtian accepted his goodwill, sat down cross‑legged, and sent his consciousness—along with the Thunder Ancestral Symbol—into the small world of the mirror.

Seeing Lin Langtian seated with his eyes closed, without a trace of wariness toward him, Lin Dong could not help but sigh inwardly.

Once, his greatest wish as a young man had been to defeat Lin Langtian in an open, honest fight and avenge his father’s humiliation.

Yet the turns of fate were strange indeed. The man he had once hated most had, in the end, become his closest comrade and brother.

Life’s twists and turns were something Lin Dong now understood all too well.

”Yan, Brother Langtian has already copied three Ancestral Symbols. Do you think that if he one day gathers all eight, he might… become a peerless existence like Symbol Ancestor?” Lin Dong mused in his heart.

”I don’t know. The Eight Ancestral Symbols were created by my old master. That means his strength far surpassed them. Even if someone collected all eight, they might still fall short of him.

”But this Lin Langtian is strange. He can copy the Eight Ancestral Symbols. Even if he needs a long time between each copy to gather energy, the feat itself is more mysterious than anything my old master did.

”If he really does gather all eight—and considering the other secrets he carries—he might truly have a chance to become someone like my old master,” Yan replied after a brief silence.

”Oh? So Brother Langtian might become another Symbol Ancestor…” Lin Dong’s heart stirred, his eyes trembling slightly in shock.

Symbol Ancestor had been the strongest being of the Ancient Era, the savior of the world. Even the Eight Ancient Masters were like children before him.

Yet by Yan’s estimation, Lin Langtian might become the second such existence. If word of that got out, it would shake the world to its core.

”It’s only a possibility. Someone like my old master doesn’t appear easily. If they did, the Otherworldly Demons wouldn’t have been so arrogant for so long,” Yan sighed.

”Even that possibility is incredible. And with Brother Langtian here, Huanhuan doesn’t have to rush into awakening the Ice Master,” Lin Dong said softly, a small smile tugging at his lips.

”Perhaps. But the Otherworldly Demons are pressing hard. When the nest falls, no egg remains whole. As long as they exist, the Ice Master may reawaken at any time.

”And once the other Ancient Masters return, even if you and Lin Langtian join forces, I doubt you’ll be able to stop them,” Yan said quietly.

Lin Dong’s hands clenched, his expression darkening.

For him, Ying Huanhuan’s Ice Master identity was a reverse scale that could never be touched.

He did not know how she would treat him after regaining those memories, but to him, she would always be the mischievous, lively girl he loved.

”Yes… when the nest falls, no egg is spared. Then let Brother Langtian and me hold up the sky,” Lin Dong said in a low, steady voice.

He had cultivated this far for one reason: to protect the people he cared about. That was the burden he bore.

Now, at least, he had a brother who shared his ideals and could help shoulder that weight.

With that thought, Lin Dong glanced at Lin Langtian and smiled before lowering himself into a seated posture as well.

For now, he would act as guardian.

Three days slipped by unnoticed.

For all that time, Lin Langtian sat unmoving upon the stone ledge, as still as a statue. Even his aura seemed to have vanished completely.

Yet as Lin Dong watched, his eyes narrowed.

Somehow, despite the stillness, he could faintly sense a terrifying power building deep inside Lin Langtian’s body, waiting to erupt.

Boom!

The heavens suddenly shook. A torrent of thunder began to churn within Lin Langtian. Overhead, a dark cloud ten thousand zhang across slowly formed.

Countless bolts of lightning, each a thousand zhang long, flashed within it like a storm of blades.

Lin Dong’s expression hardened as a familiar dread crept into his heart.

He was reminded of the time in the Thunder World when he had obtained the Thunder Ancestral Symbol—ten thousand lightning strikes and ten thousand waves of agony he would never forget.

Rumble…

As that memory shivered through him, the lightning above began to writhe and coil.

A vast bolt of lightning, tens of thousands of zhang long, slowly gathered.

Roar!

A deafening dragon cry split the sky as the massive bolt took shape, transforming into a lightning dragon a hundred thousand zhang long.

Its appearance drew the eye of everyone in Dao Sect.

It was so vast that it covered most of the sect, an ocean of lightning that blotted out the world. Thunder rumbled endlessly, each peal heavy with destructive might.

Ying Xuanzhi and the others stared up at it, stunned and afraid. If such a dragon descended, even Dao Sect might be completely wiped out.

But when they saw Lin Langtian and Lin Dong beneath it, they relaxed slightly.

No matter what happened, with those two standing there, it was unlikely true disaster would fall.

On a distant mountain peak, Flame Master also watched the thunder dragon. A strange light flickered in his eyes, a hint of surprise hidden deep within.

”This is… the aura of two Thunder Ancestral Symbols. So what Yan said was true…” he murmured.

…

The dragon’s colossal body coiled through the sky, its blazing eyes fixed on Lin Langtian. Its presence alone could chill the heart of anyone who saw it.

But Lin Langtian showed no fear at all. He met its gaze calmly, then allowed a faint smile to curve his lips.

Slowly, he opened his arms as if welcoming the final wrath of heaven.

Boom!

Sensing the provocation, the dragon’s body crackled with madness. Lightning boiled across its form before it suddenly plunged downward.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As it fell, the very world seemed to shake with each coil of its body, the sheer might of its descent enough to destroy everything in its path.

Lin Langtian’s hands remained spread, his smile growing.

The dragon’s immense bulk crashed down like a meteor, slamming straight into his unguarded body.

Thud!

A low boom rolled out as his body shattered almost instantly.

Golden blood spattered through the air, his form reduced to mist, not even bones remaining.

The thunder dragon roared past, dissipating only after brushing the ground.

In its wake, only a slowly drifting cloud of blood remained.

For an unknown length of time, the blood mist hung there in silence.

Then a faint spark of lightning flickered within it.

Countless tiny threads of lightning appeared, weaving rapidly through the air as the blood began to converge.

Flesh and bone reformed along the outlines of lightning.

When the glow finally faded, a nearly perfect body stepped out from within the crackling arcs.

He still looked exactly like Lin Langtian, but now an indescribable aura of awe and majesty flowed from him—like the oppressive might of the heavens’ own thunder.

Lin Langtian lowered his head and gazed at the body that had just been reforged by the Thunder Ancestral Symbol. A bright light flashed in his eyes as he clenched his hands slowly.

Boom, boom!

As his fists tightened, a terrifying power surged from every inch of his body like a primordial beast.

Under its pressure, the ground beneath his feet cracked and collapsed, and a nearby river began to flow backward.

That strength was fiercer and more tyrannical than ever before.

It felt… limitless.

Off to the side, Lin Dong watched in amazement.

Lin Langtian’s Dragon Kun Body had already been incredibly durable. Now, after being tempered by the Thunder Ancestral Symbol, it possessed a terrifying, unstoppable destructive power as well.

The strongest shield and the sharpest spear had merged as one in him.

Golden dragon scales and golden kun feathers could be faintly seen shifting beneath his skin, each one laced with crackling lightning.

Clearly, under the Thunder Ancestral Symbol’s tempering, his Dragon Kun Body had undergone a tremendous evolution. Calling it a ”Dragon Kun Thunder Body” was no exaggeration.

And Lin Langtian could feel that this was still not his limit. An immense reservoir of strength slumbered in the depths of his flesh.

Right now, it was as if his entire body had become a thunder dragon Kun—its explosive power great enough, he felt, to obliterate a Samsara‑level expert with a single punch.

Such was the transformation brought by the Thunder Ancestral Symbol—a complete rebirth of the flesh.

The Thunder Ancestral Symbol truly was a treasure beyond compare.

Lifting his head, Lin Langtian looked up at the lightning that still raged across the heavens.

He felt no fear toward their brutal power—only a strange sense of kinship.

Lightning flickered in his eyes as he stretched out a hand, catching a bolt that fell toward him.

Sss!

The thunder wrapped around his palm and, this time, did not harm him at all.

The once unruly power was now meek as a lamb in his grasp, coiling gently around his fingers.

Watching the lightning dance quietly across his skin, Lin Langtian smiled and raised his gaze to the sky again.

Buzz…

The thunder above began to whirl, forming a massive vortex of lightning. From its core, a single beam of light shot downward.

At its heart, an ancient rune slowly descended, coming to a halt before him.

Lin Langtian regarded the rune with clear satisfaction.

This was the newly copied Thunder Ancestral Symbol—the second such symbol in the Xuan Domain Continent, and one that belonged to him alone.

”Congratulations, Brother Langtian, on obtaining the Thunder Ancestral Symbol,” Lin Dong said as he approached, smiling.

In some ways, the Thunder Ancestral Symbol was even more practical than the Devouring or Space Symbols, because the boost it provided to combat strength was immediate and immense.

With its blessing, Lin Langtian’s power would once again soar.

”Hehe, this is all thanks to you, Brother Dong,” Lin Langtian replied. His sleeve flicked, and a bolt of lightning flashed to a halt in front of Lin Dong.

Within it floated the original Thunder Ancestral Symbol.
