Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

Whizz, whizz, whizz!

In the western region of the Demon Domain, a large group of shadowy figures zipped across a black plain, finally coming to a halt mid-air, their eyes shining with excitement. Among them was Lin Langtian, who paused as he looked up, spotting an enormous mountain range ahead, so massive it defied description.

The peaks towered into the sky like colossal pillars, their size clear even from a hundred miles away. And in these mountains, countless figures filled the air, creating a bustling scene that stretched as far as the eye could see. It was clear that a great many people had gathered here.

”Something feels off, Senior Brother,” Song Yun remarked, scanning the crowd around them. ”The people here look unfamiliar — most of them aren’t from the Eastern Profound Domain.”

”Oh? Not from the Eastern Profound Domain?” Lin Langtian replied, intrigued. As he glanced over the masses of people in the mountains, he sensed that the energy around him was different from that of Eastern Domain cultivators, further heightening his curiosity. ”Could people from other domains also enter the Demon Domain?” he mused.

Song Yun considered this and nodded. ”The Demon Domain was a battleground in the ancient war of the heavens and earth. Since it’s an ancient battlefield, it’s likely that there are multiple entry points. It’s not impossible for people from other regions to enter.”

Nodding in agreement, Lin Langtian acknowledged the explanation. This was a place filled with ancient secrets and legacies that could attract anyone from any domain.

At that moment, Lin Langtian’s gaze caught sight of a familiar group. Recognizing the attire, he murmured, ”The Ten Thousand Beasts Sect... Seems like my guess was right. These people are from the Western Profound Domain.”

”The Western Profound Domain?” Song Yun and the others looked alarmed. The East and West Profound Domains had long-standing tensions, and a confrontation now seemed unavoidable.

”What’s there to worry about?” Lin Langtian replied calmly. ”If they come at us, we’ll be ready. Let’s go.”

As they moved closer to the center of the mountain range, Lin Langtian and his companions began to sense numerous powerful, concealed auras. It was clear this place was filled with formidable talents, with many Nine-Yuan Nirvana masters among them. They even sensed several subtle but potent presences, some reaching the Profound Life Realm — clearly, top talents from the Western Profound Domain were present.

”Oh? It seems even the super-sects of the Eastern Profound Domain have come here.” Lin Langtian’s gaze swept over several large groups gathered in the central area. Among them, he noticed groups from his own domain, including disciples from the Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace.

However, other super-sect disciples, such as those from Dao Sect and Yuan Gate, hadn’t yet arrived, likely heading for other ancient sites in the Demon Domain. As Lin Langtian and his party approached, he felt the eyes of many others turn toward them, most casting cold glances. With the Western Profound Domain disciples making up the majority here, their disdain for those from the Eastern Domain was evident.

”It’s Brother Langtian!” Over in the Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace area, Su Rou spotted the Fire Division disciples arriving in the distance, and a delighted smile crossed her face.

”So Lin Langtian and the Fire Division are here, too?” Ling Qingzhu lifted her gaze toward them, her delicate eyebrows relaxing slightly. She had initially planned to head to the Burning Sky Vault in the central Demon Domain. However, when she heard of another treasure vault in the western region that rivaled it, the Goddess Vault, and was better suited to her skills, she had come here instead.

Yet this area was swarming with Western Profound Domain cultivators. Although open conflict hadn’t broken out, the Eastern Profound Domain disciples faced constant pressure and exclusion. Lin Langtian’s arrival was a welcome morale boost for the Eastern disciples, especially considering he had bested Yuan Cang.

”Hmph! So what if Lin Langtian is here? The Western Profound Domain has most of the numbers, and Tianxuan Sect, the strongest sect in the Western Profound Domain, is here too.” A handsome young man standing behind Ling Qingzhu, named Wu Qun, cast a disdainful glance at Lin Langtian.

He went on, ”I heard Lin Langtian interfered with Tianxuan Sect’s plans in the ancient battlegrounds during the Battle of the Hundred Dynasties, costing the Western Domain a major advantage. That certainly angered Tianxuan Sect, and with their Senior Brother Xuantian present, things look grim for him. He’s practically walking into a trap. Xuantian’s strength is said to surpass even Yuan Cang’s, and Tianxuan Sect has over six hundred disciples here. Lin Langtian’s arrival is only going to make things worse.”

Wu Qun’s irritation was apparent. He recalled seeing Lin Langtian interact with Ling Qingzhu at the treasure market. Although her demeanor had remained indifferent, Wu Qun, who had known Ling Qingzhu for years, had noticed subtle changes in her usual calm. He found this unusual and unsettling.

”But with Brother Langtian here, the Eastern Profound Domain won’t be bullied by the Western Domain!” Su Rou interjected, unable to remain silent. She recalled how Lin Langtian, during the ancient battleground, had faced opponents far stronger than himself time and time again, yet always emerged unscathed, his calm expression never faltering, leaving a trail of defeated foes behind him. Although now a Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace disciple, she still held him in the highest regard.

”Do you think he can beat Xuantian as easily as he did Yuan Cang? Or that his little Fire Division could match Tianxuan Sect, the strongest in the Western Profound Domain?” Wu Qun scoffed. He had heard about Lin Langtian’s victory over Yuan Cang, but he dismissed it as luck. Xuantian’s reputation, especially given his feat of defeating a Profound Life Realm master, set him far apart from others.

As Wu Qun observed, he doubted Lin Langtian’s ability to actually contend with Xuantian. The Fire Division and the Tianxuan Sect, after all, were worlds apart in terms of power.

After all, the Fire Division was only one of the Eight Divisions. If Lin Langtian could command all Eight Divisions of Yuan Gate, he might be able to take on Tianxuan Sect, but as things stood, the gap was just too large.

Su Rou hesitated. She was no longer the timid girl of the past, and she was fully aware of the influence wielded by Tianxuan Sect and Xuantian. But after a moment’s pause, she nodded firmly. ”Brother Langtian won’t be afraid of them!”

”Maybe,” Wu Qun shrugged, unconvinced. As a respected figure in Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace, few dared argue with him, but Su Rou was an exception. Though she had only joined the palace a year earlier, her growth was frighteningly fast. Wu Qun also knew that if she ever unleashed her full power, only Ling Qingzhu might be able to contain her.

Ling Qingzhu listened quietly to their exchange, slightly surprised by Su Rou’s unwavering admiration for Lin Langtian. Though respectful toward her, Su Rou’s devotion to Lin Langtian bordered on reverence, a loyalty that even Ling Qingzhu hadn’t seen before.

Meanwhile, under the gaze of countless onlookers, Lin Langtian led his Fire Division disciples into the central area. Together, they swept their gaze around before resting on the large, imposing group up ahead. The sheer strength radiating from this force exceeded even that of Yuan Gate’s disciples under Yuan Cang’s command.

”That’s the Tianxuan Sect,” Song Yun muttered.

”Tianxuan Sect?” Lin Langtian looked puzzled, unfamiliar with the Western Profound Domain’s sects.

”Similar to Yuan Gate, Tianxuan Sect is the leading sect in the Western Profound Domain, stronger than even Yuan Gate. In fact, they were the masterminds behind the Western Domain’s attempted takeover of our Eastern Profound Domain’s ancient battleground,” Song Yun explained.

”So, Tianxuan Sect orchestrated the ancient battleground raid?” Lin Langtian’s brow furrowed. The Western Domain’s scheme had nearly succeeded — it was only his timely intervention that thwarted their plans. For that, the sects of the Western Domain, especially Tianxuan Sect, harbored a grudge against him.

The arrival of Tianxuan Sect was unexpected, but Lin Langtian felt no fear. With his strength and the might of the Fire Division, even a direct confrontation with them would not intimidate him. Lin Langtian signaled his followers to sit and cultivate, but their wary expressions made it clear they were prepared for any potential threat. The rigorous training they’d undergone over the past ten days had evidently paid off.

”Stay on your guard,” Lin Langtian said quietly to Song Yun and the others.

”Yes, Senior Brother.” They nodded in affirmation, remaining alert.

Before long, the faint sound of wind slicing through the air reached Lin Langtian’s ears, and he looked up to see members of the Divine Sect — including a young woman with striking snow-white hair, Xuē Wǎn, the sect’s strongest young talent.

Recognizing Lin Langtian, she smiled slightly and said, ”I’ve long heard of Lin Langtian’s reputation and am honored to meet you.”

Lin Langtian, unphased, replied, ”You’re the Divine Sect’s Xuē Wǎn, I assume? Speak plainly, if you would; I don’t have time to waste.”

Surprised by his bluntness, Xuē Wǎn’s gaze showed a hint of disappointment. Confident in her beauty, she was used to attracting attention; few, apart from Ling Qingzhu or Dao Sect’s Ying Xiaoxiao, could rival her. Yet Lin Langtian’s dismissive attitude was a first.

Quickly regaining her composure, she smiled again. ”Well then, straight to the point: I assume you’ve come here for the Goddess Vault. During ancient times, the Goddess excelled not only in Yuan Power but also in spiritual force cultivation, which is crucial for our Divine Sect. But with so many Western Domain sects present, we propose an alliance with your Fire Division. If you help us secure the Goddess’s spiritual inheritance, you’ll be handsomely rewarded.”

With that, she bowed to Lin Langtian, her gesture providing him an enticing view of her low-cut dress.

”Ah, so she wants a bodyguard,” Lin Langtian mused inwardly, realizing her intent. But do I look like a lackey to her?

He shook his head. His own goal lay beyond the Goddess Vault, and he found her attempt to use him distasteful. Just as he was about to decline, he noticed a group approaching from the direction of Tianxuan Sect, led by none other than his old rival, Cao Yu, from the ancient battleground — and their hostile expressions said it all.

Lin Langtian smirked, then turned to Xuē Wǎn, gesturing at the Tianxuan Sect disciples approaching them. ”You should know that I have a long-standing conflict with Tianxuan Sect. Are you sure your sect still wants to ally with the Fire Division?”

Following his gaze, Xuē Wǎn’s flawless face stiffened as she saw the approaching Tianxuan Sect members, and her usual poise faltered…
