Chapter 45 – 44 Boris the Blacksmith’s Recruitment

Looking at Anna’s side profile, Rein noticed that over time, Anna’s complexion seemed much improved, and her light yellow hair no longer looked as dry as before, gaining a slight sheen.

Rein responded to Anna with a smile and a nod, but he quickly remembered something.

“Wait, Anna.”

Anna turned around, her large, deep brown eyes looking at Rein with confusion.

“Right, Anna, did anyone from the manor come by this morning to notify us when the servant training will resume?”

Anna shook her head and said, “No one else came by this morning.”

“Okay, Anna, please remind me if someone from the manor comes with a notification.”

“Sure, okay,” Anna nodded.

Anna still talked to Rein with her head lowered, shy and timid. She didn’t dare to look at Rein’s face while speaking, and if she said a bit more, she would bow her head, a blush spreading across her pale face.

This was because Rein had saved her once; in Anna’s heart, Rein was a trustworthy person, otherwise she might have spoken even less.

It seemed that only when with Bo He did Anna feel unrestrained, laughing naturally and relaxed.

For this, Rein didn’t immediately have a good solution; he just hoped time would make her more cheerful.

“The servant training is still on hold, it seems there’s still some cleanup work to be handled in the manor, or possibly some other issue.”

“Hamilton hasn’t sent anyone to look for me either, he must be busy treating his injuries.”

Rein thought for a moment and decided to first go to the town’s blacksmith shop in town that morning to find the blacksmith Boris and continue advancing his Profession Level as a blacksmith.

Why not train in the Giant Bear Breathing Technique?

That was because Cleya had once instructed Rein that when the body is very tired or in a bad state, one must not force oneself to practice the breathing techniques.

At the moment, Rein’s muscles ached profoundly all over, hardly a good state, so naturally, he shouldn’t force himself to practice the Giant Bear Breathing Technique.

However, after leaving the house, Rein didn’t head straight to the blacksmith shop. Instead, he first went to a pie shop and bought three pies, each the size of a twelve-inch pizza from his previous life, and began to eat heartily.

You should know, one twelve-inch meat pie should be enough for a meal for a family of three.

But after eating three pies, Rein only just felt full.

“It looks like I need to find a way to earn more money, otherwise the few Gold Coins I have left won’t be enough to let me enjoy good food.”

“If I just eat plain white bread, the few Gold Coins I have could last a long time, but whether practicing the Giant Bear Breathing Technique or swordsmanship, both consume a lot of physical energy. My body craves meat!”

Upon the mention of eating meat, Rein couldn’t help but recall the delicious taste of bear meat and involuntarily licked the corner of his mouth.

“If I were rich enough to eat bear meat rich in nutrients every day, I guess the progress of my Giant Bear Breathing Technique would hasten remarkably!”

Rein speculated.

As soon as he stepped into the blacksmith shop, perhaps due to his recent advancement in the blacksmith profession, Rein suddenly felt a strange kinship with the clangs and heat that filled the blacksmith shop.

“Rein, you’re here! I heard that last night there was an attack by jackal-men at the manor, and several servents died?” When Blacksmith Boris saw Rein walk in, he greeted him and immediately asked.

“Yes, Uncle Boris,” Rein nodded, confirming Boris’s words.

“Such vicious events haven’t occurred in years, days are becoming less peaceful!” Boris lamented.

As expected, bad news travels fast.

Clearly, the attack on the manor had already spread throughout Flashgold Town.

The other blacksmith apprentices also started bombarding Rein with questions about the details.

“Rein, I heard several servants died?”

“I heard that wolf-man was over two meters tall?”

“Yeah, how can there be such a tall wolf-man! Aren’t wolf-men usually about the same size as us?”

“….”

After some idle chat, Rein began to focus and started forging horseshoes with the blacksmith, Boris.

However, this time, Rein took the lead and Boris assisted in the horseshoe forging.

When Rein held the blacksmith hammer, he felt as if it was an extension of his own arm, swinging it was very natural and effective.

This was probably the impact of a core blacksmith skill—Hammer Mastery.

[You forged a horseshoe, insight enhanced!]

[Your skill in horseshoe forging has improved, Experience +2]

….

[You focused on forging horseshoes for half an hour, blacksmith professional experience points +1]

After advancing to a blacksmith, the experience gained from forging horseshoes had slowed down a lot. Even with Rein as the main forger, it basically took at least half an hour to gain 1 point.

When someone is focused on their work, time flies by very quickly.

By the time Rein realized it, it was already noon.

Looking at the dozens of horseshoes stacked together, Rein still felt a great sense of accomplishment.

At that moment, Rein noticed a burning gaze on him. Following the gaze, he saw Boris looking at him intensely.

“Rein, have you considered coming to work for me, with a salary?”

No wonder Boris favored Rein, in his eyes, the amount of horseshoes that normally took at least half a day to complete were finished by Rein about two hours ahead of schedule.

This forging efficiency truly amazed him!

Of course, this was not because Rein’s forging skills had surpassed those of Boris.

It was due to the overall enhancement of Rein’s attributes.

Especially the growth in spiritual power, which allowed Rein to grasp the subtle changes in the material after each hammer strike.

And the increase in strength allowed Rein to swing the seven or eight catties blacksmith hammer with ease, without using too much physical energy.

Rein was taken aback upon hearing Boris’s offer.

Before coming to Boris’s smithy, Rein had made sure to inquire about it; Boris’s smithy had only one assistant, and the others were paying apprentices.

Normally, a smithy in Flashgold Town like this one would need at least two to three assistants.

Being an assistant meant that you already had the skills of a blacksmith, achieving a level comparable to that of a certified blacksmith in either a certain ironwork craft or a forging process.

This meant you could make a living off of it.

Rein looked around and noticed that the other apprentices were occasionally casting anxious glances his way, seemingly nervous about Rein accepting the offer and taking the spot they had long coveted.

But obviously, Rein was not going to choose to join Boris’s smithy.

He came here to learn forging purely to enhance his professional level as a blacksmith, thus gaining more upgrade rewards.

“However…..now relying solely on forging horseshoes, the speed of gaining blacksmith professional experience has become very slow.”

“I could use this opportunity to ask Boris about the tuition for learning other forging skills.” Rein thought to himself.
