Apocalypse: Goddess Catalog, Starting With Twin Sisters!

Chapter 237: Chapter 228: The Plight of Gao’s Base

Gao Qiang’s original plan was to retreat, seeing as they were completely outmatched.

He would retreat immediately to preserve his remaining forces.

He couldn’t let all the Superpower Users from his Gao’s Base die here.

Live to fight another day!

Gao Qiang had made up his mind to retreat to his base.

With his rallying cry, and with the help of two powerful Superpower Users, Old Mo and Xiaosheng, they had almost torn an opening through the encirclement of the Taihe Group and Dayong Base.

But he never expected to find another layer of encirclement outside the first.

And blocking their path was a Tier Seven Superpower User.

Xiaosheng and Old Mo, his main force for the breakout, were stopped in their tracks.

Normally, a two-on-one fight would be no problem for them.

But they were surrounded now!

That brief delay was all it took for the pursuing forces from Dayong Base to catch up.

This time, they were completely and utterly trapped in the center.

Gazing at the Superpower Users eyeing them like prey from all sides, Gao Qiang knew he was truly done for this time.

”Hahaha!”

”Gao Qiang, go on and run!”

”Why’d you stop running? Too tired? Hahaha!”

Li Yong’s vicious voice rang out.

Now that all pretenses were dropped, there was no need for pleasantries.

Especially since they were already enemies.

After all, Gao’s Base and Dayong Base had clashed plenty of times before.

Naturally, many Superpower Users had been killed or injured in those conflicts.

Gao Qiang was well aware of this, of course.

He could understand Li Yong’s arrogant gloating.

He sneered back.

”Don’t get cocky just because you got lucky!”

”If the Taihe Group hadn’t stabbed us in the back, would you even be a match for Gao’s Base?”

Li Yong didn’t deny it.

Gao’s Base was certainly stronger than his Dayong Base.

But so what?

He was the one who won in the end, wasn’t he?

’The process doesn’t matter. The result is everything!’

”Heh... Looks like our President Gao still hasn’t accepted his fate!”

”Come on, let me introduce someone to our dear President Gao.”

It seemed Li Yong’s goal was to shatter what little confidence Gao Qiang had left.

He stepped aside, revealing the person who had been standing behind him.

Gao Qiang recognized her instantly.

It was a woman.

”Chengcheng... I never would have thought you’d be the one leading the attack on Gao’s Base.”

Gao Qiang’s eyes were filled with disbelief.

This woman, Chengcheng, was the secretary to the chairman of the Taihe Group.

Before the apocalypse, back when the Gao Group and the Taihe Group were on the best of terms, the two sides had often dined and socialized together.

Gao Qiang had quite a fondness for Chengcheng as well.

After the apocalypse began, he had even saved her life once.

But now, this very same woman was leading the forces sent to annihilate him.

At that moment, Gao Qiang felt the wound in his heart was far deeper than any of his physical injuries.

This was especially true given the... special relationship he and Chengcheng shared.

The betrayal cut even deeper.

”Brother Qiang, I had no choice!”

”These are Chairman Chen’s orders!”

”I have to follow them!”

Chengcheng’s own feelings were indescribable.

The Chairman Chen she mentioned was none other than the chairman of the Taihe Group.

He was also Gao Qiang’s godfather.

That’s right.

The reason Gao Qiang had been able to rise so quickly in the business world before the apocalypse was partly because he and his brother worked together in perfect sync, and partly because he had taken Chairman Chen of the Taihe Group as his godfather.

With the Taihe Group backing the Gao Group, they were able to rise rapidly.

They became a powerhouse in the business world of East Sea City.

But he had long since repaid that debt of gratitude with shares in his own company.

In fact, he had paid back several times the value!

Logically, neither side owed the other a thing.

After the apocalypse, his Gao’s Base had even sent supplies and personnel and had come to the Taihe Group’s aid on multiple occasions.

And this was the result he got in return.

From a certain point of view, Chengcheng was practically his sister!

Yet now, she was leading the charge to mercilessly annihilate Gao’s Base.

’What a heartless bitch...’

”Chairman Chen has given a kill order. Your Gao’s Base must be completely eradicated today.”

”Because as long as you exist, none of us in the South District can survive!”

This time, the Taihe Group had dispatched three Tier Seven Superpower Users.

And the Taihe Group only had four Tier Seven Superpower Users in total!

They had sent the vast majority of their top Superpower Users to annihilate Gao’s Base!

This alone was enough to show how determined the Taihe Group was this time.

Furthermore, Gao Qiang could no longer see a trace of emotion in Chengcheng’s eyes.

Gao Qiang understood. Not only would these people not spare him, but they wouldn’t spare his younger brother, Xiaosheng, either.

If he thought about it, Gao Qiang could guess why the Taihe Group was doing this.

After all, he controlled the most resources in the South District. Who wouldn’t be greedy for that?

It was just that he, Gao Qiang, had been too trusting of his so-called godfather.

He never imagined that this so-called godfather would not only betray Chengcheng, but had also orchestrated such a grand scheme just to lure him into a trap.

And now, he was going to have him killed.

Chengcheng might have made it sound noble, saying it was for the good of everyone in the South District, but in truth, his so-called godfather just wanted all of his resources.

Understanding all this, Gao Qiang knew there was likely no escape.

These people would never let him or his men go.

Li Yong, for his part, was very pleased with the look on Gao Qiang’s face.

”Gao Qiang, let’s see you try to run now!”

”I’m going to kill you and avenge my brothers who died at your hands!”

The moment the words left his mouth, Li Yong waved his hand.

All the surrounding Superpower Users charged toward the members of Gao’s Base trapped in the middle.

Despair washed over Gao Qiang’s face.

His younger brother, Xiaosheng, beside him, looked just as hopeless.

All the Superpower Users from Gao’s Base behind them wore the same expression of despair.

The only silver lining was that Gao Qiang had always treated his people well.

As a result, not a single one of them betrayed him.

He gritted his teeth and roared.

”Brothers, let’s take them down with us!!!”

With that, Gao Qiang was the first to charge.

Behind him, Gao Sheng and Old Mo were right on his heels.

And behind them were the last of their Superpower Users.

Although the members of Gao’s Base summoned their last ounce of fighting spirit, they couldn’t overcome the impossible odds.

In the end, under the combined assault of the two bases, only Gao Qiang and about twenty of his people were left, desperately holding on.

As for the rest, nearly all of them had been killed or wounded.

Worst of all, their Superpowers were almost completely depleted.

Yet the number of attackers from the two bases showed no signs of dwindling.

Gao Qiang knew that today was the end of the line for Gao’s Base.

”Hahaha, Gao Qiang, your time is up!”

”Go to hell!!!”

Li Yong’s arrogant laughter echoed as countless Superpower attacks hurtled toward Gao Qiang and his brother....

Just as the two brothers were filled with despair and resentment, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.

”Brother-in-law, I haven’t married your sister yet, so you can’t die on me!”

”Space Black Hole!!!”
