Chapter 436: Chapter 229: The Elder Scholar

While Baiyi was making clothes and equipment.

The battlefield outside Dongwu City had already been cleaned up.

The craters left after those battles were left unattended.

After all, repairing changes in vast environments like valleys stretching for tens of thousands of meters and craters thousands of meters in diameter is very difficult.

Even though there are Mage Corps in the three regular legions, it would still take at least several months to repair these large pits.

And the area dozens of kilometers outside the gate is no longer a place for ordinary people, and for adventurers, the terrain is not that important.

So no one has issued orders to repair the land.

This war not only showcased Dongwu City’s combat prowess but also brought some sadness, as the warriors also had families.

After their sacrifices, although the families could receive pensions ensuring a lifetime of financial security, it could never compensate for the loss of their loved ones.

War always comes with pain. Xia did not have the concept of only men going to war; Catmen, Elves, Enchanting Demons, and other races all followed matriarchal societies.

So when eyes full of anticipation turned to disappointment and despair, quiet sobs began to spread through the welcoming crowds.

Xia was also merciless, reforming to turn the sorrow of the Outer City District into no longer being sad; the faces of goblins, dwarves, elves, and humans were all filled with smiles.

It was only seven days after the war’s end, and some civilians already began to start small businesses full of hope.

Street food started appearing in the streets and alleys.

The 180,000 strong legion now only had 70,000 remaining.

The remaining 110,000, especially the 20,000 slots in the Modified Legion, led to a lively atmosphere both in the legion arena competitions and online.

The Military Equipment Bureau and the supply department are extremely busy, and players have begun redeeming their battle merits. In such a grand war, each player had quite a few battle merits.

Along with various financial issues, the finance department started bustling as well.

Then, a piece of news excited Dongwu City even further.

Eric’s previous attempts to give more opportunities to civilians had led to Dongwu City’s various systems becoming very bloated.

Ultimately, Baiyi dismissed all those bloated departments, cutting even close to 300,000 troops.

Now Dongwu City had become stronger. This grand war made scholars see the shortcomings of the legion, prompting Zero to optimize Dongwu City’s systems based on scholarly suggestions.

Many departments were established, and the legion expanded by 70,000, reaching a total of 250,000.

The Light Whisper Legion was increased to 50,000, the Apocalypse Legion 20,000, the Storm Legion 50,000, and the Wu City Army 130,000.

In terms of battle strength ranking, Whisper > Apocalypse > Storm > Wu City.

In terms of potential ranking, Apocalypse > Storm > Wu City > Whisper.

The Light Whisper Legion could only improve through modifications, but Baiyi could not possibly modify 50,000 people one by one, so their potential remained nil.

This news increased the praise for Baiyi, and with rumors that the Capital City and other Zhong Cities began constructing Modified Legions all due to Baiyi.

Therefore, Baiyi’s reputation in Dawn was particularly high.

Especially among the civilians, who practically wanted to build statues of Baiyi and Diane at home for worship.

The transcendent beings who had gone out to do business quickly sold off their goods and rushed back to Dongwu City overnight.

Moreover, since the bodies of those opposing became magic materials, online complaints about Baiyi were minimal, and the reforms had become an accepted fact.

Those account owners who previously cursed loudly came quietly to Dongwu City, ready to join the legion selection.

After all, who would turn their back on military pay?

That’s a tenfold salary, and aside from some family legions in the Capital City, Dongwu City’s legion benefits are unparalleled.

Even though other Border Cities began announcing plans to create Modified Legions, everyone still planned to try Dongwu City first; if not selected, they could try other cities.

For a time, Dongwu City, having just participated in a massive war, was more prosperous than ever before.

The number of transcendent beings once reached nearly five million.

Sabo also took the opportunity to reform Dongwu City; he first increased the events, then added some benefits for transcendent beings, keeping as many people in Dongwu City as possible while starting construction directly.

The labor force is cheap and affordable; after all, such a massive transcendent populace, especially the outsiders, had no jobs and could only wait to be queued for events.

During this period, a job that does not interfere with official duties was very welcome, at least enough for entertainment expenses, wasn’t it?

Similarly, players were engaging in similar activities. Although they had a lot of battle merits, they could only exchange for equipment and skills, and had no chance for modifications.

So most players directly exchanged for Gold Coins and then exchanged those coins for real currency, ultimately continuing to grind in the game.

This trend caused the price of Gold Coins among players to drop from 30 to 20.

After all, the number of wealthy players is limited; six million players couldn’t entirely establish a player brick-moving system.

However, this was no concern, as Gold Coins were still valuable, and as long as they didn’t drop below ten, the grind troops remained enthusiastically active.
