Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1852: Chapter 1852: She’s Really Skilled at Pretending to Be a God-man

”Do I look weak to you? Do I look short-lived?” Han Yan rolled her eyes and said.

According to her speculation, this Divine Prayer is actually a divine art. It is so powerful that ordinary priests have difficulty performing it. If forcefully executed, it could cause severe damage to their Primordial Energy, explaining why those people were weak and died young. Obviously, she did not have this problem, as she performed the Divine Prayer relying on the awakened memory of Aolai; it was impossible for her to be short-lived.

”It seems nothing’s wrong indeed. How could this be?” Shen Yuhe patted and knocked on Han Yan for a while, and surprisingly, found no trace of weakness or abnormality on her. She said in astonishment.

”You’ll understand it in the future.” Han Yan was too lazy to explain further. Anyway, with the increase in power, Shen Yuhe would eventually comprehend what the so-called Divine Prayer truly was.

Below the stage, the people’s chanting finally ended, yet no one stood up. They continued to kneel on the ground, gazing at Han Yan through tearful eyes, filled with respect and gratitude.

”Hasn’t it ended yet?” Han Yan felt somewhat uncomfortable under the gaze of so many eyes with such expressions.

What made her even more uncomfortable was the twelve Chief Priests beside her were looking at her with much less friendliness than before. There was nothing she could do; originally, it was supposed to be everyone together showcasing the Chief Priests’ compassion and enjoying the people’s worship during the ceremony. But in the end, she alone stole the spotlight, leaving the other Chief Priests as mere foils. Who would be happy in such a situation?

Of course, Han Yan felt a bit helpless too; she hadn’t expected it to turn out this way.

”If Master Priest doesn’t say something, they won’t get up,” Shen Yuhe said with a smile, almost imprinting the word ’envy’ onto her mind. To receive such heartfelt worship from people is a tremendous honor for a priest, something she wouldn’t even dream of having.

”Rise, God’s children. The great Divine will forever look upon you, granting you health and peace,” Han Yan gestured with her hand and spoke in a low, solemn voice.

She had never eaten pork but had seen pigs run; after watching Sikong Qinglan perform divine dances many times, she knew how to say pleasing words.

It had to be admitted, at this moment, Lady Mu appeared elegant and stunning yet retained a dignified and grand aura, exuding a sacred glow all over, indeed possessing the demeanor of a God-man.

”Thank you, Master Priest, for your blessing. Your radiance will forever light our hearts, guiding us out of the darkness and towards the path.” Receiving the blessing from Lady Mu, the people below choked up and rose, tears flowing once more.

The tens of thousands of people, bearing faces of reverence, choked in unison, creating a spectacular scene, but Lady Mu found her divine behavior excessively nauseating and quickly withdrew upon seeing them stand.

Next, another old priest ascended the platform, performed some more divine dances, and announced the end of the ceremony.

”It’s over so soon?” Han Yan didn’t expect such a grand ceremony to end so quickly, and asked somewhat surprisedly.

”It’s over for the ordinary people, but for each temple, it’s just beginning,” Shen Yuhe said.

Han Yan understood her meaning; ceremonies are merely a means for temples to appease the masses and rule the billions, whereas their focus lies not here but in the subsequent competition, which determines the ultimate ownership of the Heaven and Earth Treasures that emerge once in a million years.

The people below the stage dispersed, and soon, the square that originally accommodated tens of thousands was left with only about ten thousand people.

Not everyone is qualified to watch the temple competitions; those left behind are primarily members of the priest families from the Twelve Divine Temples.

The celebratory atmosphere brought by Han Yan’s Divine Prayer had vanished, and the entire square’s mood became somber. Though every time during the ceremonies each temple sends its disciples to compete, everyone knew this time was different from before.

Because of the strange treasure, even the Chief Priests of each temple will personally come forward, potentially fighting to the death. Hence the competitions between the priests below are also unlikely to be as lukewarm as before.

”The competition between the temples begins this afternoon. Everyone, take a break, gather your energy, and prepare well for battle; also, submit the list of participants.” Long Aoli said this before stepping down from the platform, throwing Han Yan a meaningful glance as he left.

”Let’s go prepare,” the other Chief Priests said, greeting each other and leaving in groups without acknowledging Han Yan, and some even scoffed heavily while walking away.

”Young people nowadays don’t know their boundaries, always wanting to stand out.”

”Haven’t they heard ’The early bird gets the worm’?”

”Let her enjoy the limelight this time; she’ll regret it in the future.”

Han Yan could still hear the mocking voices of some people as they walked away.

It’s not like I offended you all, it’s your own incapability, can you blame me? Han Yan, who initially felt somewhat apologetic, was now a bit furious upon hearing these words.

Others might not know what Divine Prayer truly is, but she is extraordinarily clear; presumably, those Chief Priests should be aware. If they can’t perform Divine Prayer, it’s their own skill issue. If they had the ability, they’d likely want to showcase it and stomp others heavily.

Now that they lack the ability, they’ve all directed their resentment at her, Han Yan; it’s pure envy and jealousy. As Chief Priests, they don’t even have the minimum tolerance for others.

”Master Priest, let’s go rest as well,” Shen Yuhe said to Han Yan.

”Let’s go.” Though Han Yan was angry, she wouldn’t let such people ruin her mood; she quickly put them out of mind.

”By the way, Master Priest, we’ve decided we won’t participate in this competition,” Sikong Qinglan pondered aloud once in the rest area.

The previously submitted list to the Heavenly Sun Temple was just for the ceremony, and a new list was needed for the competition, which was also mentioned earlier by Long Aoli.

”Why?” Han Yan asked.

”Master Priest, I just found out that those planning to compete include all the Chief Priests of each temple, and others are the High Order Priests like the Dual Priests, Prayer Priests, and Penalty Priests; not a single under Tenth Rank Divine Priest can be seen. Given their prowess, even if I join, there’s practically no chance of winning. Your Divine Prayer earlier offended every temple, and I’m afraid they’ll resort to foul play,” Wen Gaoren explained.

”That strong?” Han Yan was slightly taken aback.

According to her understanding, previously the competitions during ceremonies were merely formalities; no one wanted to damage harmony, so those competing were usually the young priests from each temple.ℯℯ𝑙.
