Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1851: Chapter 1851: Only She Can Perform Such a Divine Miracle

”M-My legs are healed!” Suddenly, an old man struggled to his feet, his voice shaking as he shouted in wild delight.

His legs had long since withered like dry firewood; clearly he had been crippled for many years. He had even been carried to the plaza just now, yet at this moment, those thin legs were supporting him as he stood up once more.

While shouting, the old man used his trembling hands to roll up his trouser legs. Those legs that had long since lost all vitality were now shimmering with a lustre like a baby’s skin. If one probed with Divine Sense, one would discover that the meridians and blood vessels within were growing and extending at an astonishing speed, brimming with life.

”My hand can move, the injury is healed, my injury is healed.” A middle-aged man swung his arm, so overjoyed that he wept.

All around, shocked expressions flashed across the crowd’s faces. Not many people knew that old man, but plenty recognized this middle-aged fellow. His name was Li Qiuyuan, originally a guard of the Heavenly Sun Temple. His family had served the Heavenly Sun Temple for generations and was fairly well-known. Ten years ago, when he followed Zhuge Qiu to capture a bandit, he was unfortunately injured, the meridians in his right arm completely severed, leaving it forever immobile. Many had sighed over his fate.

Now, seeing him swing his right arm, it was obvious the injury had completely healed.

”My illness is cured too, Heaven has eyes, my illness is finally cured.”

...

Within the crowd, ecstatic cries rang out one after another. Among the commoners attending the ritual, many were plagued by long-standing illnesses or lingering injuries that refused to heal. They had come to try their luck, to see whether the Divine Decree and gospel spread by the Master Priests could help cure their ailments.

Of course, devout as they were, they still knew the Master Priests were not omnipotent. If things were truly that miraculous, they would not merely be Main Priests, but God. So they had only come carrying a faint, beautiful hope, without much real expectation. Who could have imagined that their injuries and illnesses would truly be healed.

Everyone’s gaze converged on Mu Hanyan. The other Main Priests had already ceased, only Mu Hanyan was still chanting softly, still weaving Hand Formations. They naturally knew whose merit this was.

”Divine Prayer, it’s the Divine Prayer!” No one knew who first shouted.

In an instant, the plaza that had just been boiling over with cheers fell silent once more. All the commoners knelt to the ground and, with voices infinitely solemn and devout, recited, ”Honored Priest, we thank you for granting us new life. We shall pray for you with the faith of our entire lives, and with our Life defend your Radiance...”

The recitation of hundreds of thousands of people was perfectly in unison, without the slightest stray sound.

Even though Mu Hanyan was long used to great storms and waves, in this moment she still felt a faint, inexplicable sense of awe.

”What is a Divine Prayer?” Mu Hanyan asked in some confusion, turning to Shen Yuhe, who had approached from behind, her expression equally devout.

She seemed to recall seeing records of the Divine Prayer in the temple’s ancient books, but since it had nothing to do with Cultivation, she had been too lazy to waste time and had simply skipped over it.

”Divine Prayer, as the name suggests, is a prayer personally presided over by God. Its effects far surpass ordinary Priests’ rituals, just like what you’ve just seen. It’s said that even when a Master Priest personally presides over a ritual, it may still not compare to a Divine Prayer.” Shen Yuhe said, somewhat excited.

”But just now, where was any God?” Mu Hanyan said, utterly baffled.

”It’s said that the most devout Priests, when participating in rituals, may gain God’s favor and then be able to perform Divine Prayer.” Speaking to this point, Shen Yuhe’s expression suddenly turned a bit peculiar.

She’d been in contact with Mu Hanyan for quite some time now and had long since seen that this Master Priest’s true interest lay in Cultivation. As for the Divine’s Radiance and God’s Will, she had absolutely no interest, and didn’t even know what the Divine Prayer was.

Regarding the legendary God, she could not be said to have a shred of true devotion.

Yet it was precisely such a Master Priest who didn’t believe in God at all that had, of all things, received God’s favor and performed Divine Prayer. It was simply inexplicable.

Only now did Mu Han understand that this so-called Divine Prayer was, in the end, simply a means by which the temple ruled the commoners.

In truth, she had felt very clearly just now that as her final Hand Formation was cast, infinite Life Force surged in from all directions like clouds, finally gathering above the plaza. The reason those sick and injured commoners below recovered was entirely because of that, having nothing to do with Divine Prayer at all.

At its core, this was simply a kind of Divine Arts, merely too wondrous and too difficult to perform.

Recalling the situation from just now, Mu Hanyan knew that the reason she’d been able to perform Divine Prayer was, on one hand, because of the inadvertent assistance of the twelve Main Priests, who greatly enhanced and refined her Divine Sense; on another hand, because another portion of the Aolai Divine Beast’s memory had awakened, allowing her to truly master that mnemonic and those Hand Formations; and on yet another, likely due to a fortuitous coincidence.

If the time and place had been different, even with the same twelve Main Priests assisting, even with the same awakened Aolai’s memory, with her current strength it would still be very difficult to mobilize such an immense Life Force.

But was it really just a coincidence? Wasn’t it all a bit too ”coincidental”?

Mu Hanyan’s heart stirred as she thought of Ye Yanran’s Heavenly Rain Divine Healing Technique. That had originally been an Innate Divine Ability hidden in her bloodline, yet for some unknown reason she herself could not use it and had to rely on Ye Yanran to perform it. ℴ

Could it be that this so-called Divine Prayer was actually the Heavenly Rain Divine Healing she herself could perform? In other words, after learning the Priest Divine Technique, she had finally become able to unleash her own Innate Divine Ability.

The more Mu Hanyan thought about it, the more plausible it seemed, and the more she thought, the more excited she became. Huayue and the other followers had long since comprehended and mastered their own Innate Divine Abilities, yet she, their lord, had been unable to grasp hers, and she’d been depressed over that for a long time.

Unfortunately, she still needed the assistance of over a dozen Main Priests, so Mu Hanyan’s conjecture could not be fully verified. She could only temporarily suppress that surge of excitement in her heart.

”This is bad, I just remembered something, this could be trouble.” Shen Yuhe seemed to recall something, and her face suddenly changed drastically as she spoke, full of anxiety.

”What is it?” Mu Hanyan asked. Seeing Shen Yuhe so worried, she too felt a faint, inexplicable tension.

”I’ve heard that many Priests who received God’s favor and performed Divine Prayer did not live long. Once they perform Divine Prayer, they become extremely weak and can hardly live another ten years, and their strength finds it hard to ever break through again. Master Priest, are you all right? You mustn’t scare me. If anything happens to you, what will Huayu Temple do?” Shen Yuhe’s hands were patting and tapping all over Mu Hanyan’s body, so worried she was nearly in tears.
