Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1486: Chapter 1486: If Only We Had a Baby First

Of course, after the great battle at Beining Pass, all the Mu Family’s disciples were utterly convinced by Han Yan. Even Mu Chengqi, who was the most dissatisfied with her initially, now behaves obediently like a little rabbit in front of her. Who would dare disrespect her?

Thunderous cheers echoed once again within the ancient mansion of the Mu Family.

The Supreme Elder was more than satisfied with this result. After a while, he dismissed the juniors and accompanied Lu Nianxin inside.

Although Lu Nianxin was Han Yan’s grandmother and a peer of Mu Beichen, making her one generation younger, she was nevertheless the Empress Dowager of Shangyue Country, and her possession of Ba Dao made experts from various countries cautious. The Supreme Elder dared not slight her, let alone act superior.

Not far away, Yue Fanling stood beside Mu Rui’an, smiling as she watched Lu Nianxin. Yet as she continued to smile, tears began to stream down her face.

Lu Nianxin, also tearful, walked over and hugged Yue Fanling tightly.

The mother and daughter held each other tightly, their tears soaking their collars, yet their faces showed happy smiles.

...

In the following days, Han Yan spent most of her time with her grandmother and mother. After heading to the Holy Court, she’s unlikely to return, and going to the Beiyuan Misty Plain holds uncertain life and death, so Han Yan cherished the brief time with her family even more.

Tomorrow is the day Han Yan departs. After dinner, Lu Nianxin held Han Yan with one hand and Ye Lanfeng with the other and led them to the garden, saying she wanted them to spend more time with her.

”Han Yan, even when you go to the Holy Court, you mustn’t be careless. Take good care of yourself,” Lu Nianxin said, holding Han Yan’s hand. Then she turned to Ye Lanfeng, ”Lan Feng, I’m entrusting Han Yan to you. Please take good care of her for us.”

”Grandmother, are you worried about the person who injured you last time?” Han Yan asked thoughtfully.

Last time, Lu Nianxin was injured by a mysterious expert while protecting her, and later suffered from strange technique that restricted her cultivation. Although Han Yan initially suspected it was someone from the temple, Lu Nianxin said the person’s methods were very different from the temple and rather resembled the Holy Court.

Despite the similarities, Lu Nianxin couldn’t determine the person’s identity. Without evidence, she couldn’t confront the Holy Master, and she remained skeptical of the Holy Court. She didn’t like to mention it in front of others, but privately, she still wanted to remind Han Yan.

”The Holy Court has been passed down for millions of years, producing countless strong figures. Although the Holy Master is wise, he is still human, not a god. I’m afraid there are people he cannot see through and matters he doesn’t know about, so you should be cautious,” Lu Nianxin said earnestly.

”Don’t worry, Grandmother, I will be careful about everything.” Han Yan nodded.

Although many ordinary people are unaware of the Holy Court’s existence and don’t know that it is the true ruler of the Holy Court Continent, even among the noble families aware of its existence, the Holy Court remains elusive and the Holy Master, as its leader, is nearly a godlike figure. Yet, after real interaction, Han Yan agreed with her grandmother that no matter how powerful and wise the Holy Master is, he is still human, not a god. There are many people and things that might be beyond his control.

Going to the Holy Court, she needed to remain vigilant.

”Rest assured, Grandmother, I will take good care of Han Yan.” Compared to them, Ye Lanfeng certainly had a better understanding of the Holy Court, but he offered no explanations as he solemnly promised.

”Hey, why are you calling her Grandmother too?” Han Yan glared at him upon hearing his overly familiar way of addressing, not holding back her annoyance. This person was really not reserved.

”Then should I call her Aunt?” Ye Lanfeng pretended to be troubled.

”You’re taking advantage of me!” Han Yan’s eyes widened even more, really wanting to pinch him hard.

”Hahaha, then just call her Grandmother. Sooner or later, you have to call her that anyway, so it’s better to start early,” Lu Nianxin, very satisfied with Ye Lanfeng’s address, smiled with eyes forming crescents.

”Since Grandmother says so, I guess I should follow her wishes.” Ye Lanfeng chuckled.

Seeing the fox-like smiles on the faces of the old and the young, Han Yan felt a wave of helplessness. Having such a brazen lover was one thing, but also having such an exuberant grandmother was another. Fortunately, her two lifetimes of strong will helped her, or else they would truly embarrass her to death.

Despite her helplessness, seeing Ye Lanfeng getting along so well with her family filled Han Yan’s heart with a comforting warmth.

”Alright, this beautiful night is not for an old lady like me to disturb your romantic moment. Han Yan has been spending all her time with me these days and hasn’t had time to be with you, so go ahead and enjoy some time together,” Lu Nianxin said to Han Yan with a wink, teasing.

”Grandmother...” No matter how strong-willed Han Yan was, she blushed with embarrassment.

In her heart, she secretly criticized: This grandmother is too bold; she says anything with no sense of propriety as an elder.

But soon, she heard her grandmother’s next words, and realized she had underestimated her boldness.

”It’s a pity the time is too short; otherwise, you could have had a baby before going to Beiyuan Misty Plain; what a pity.” Lu Nianxin said as she walked away, shaking her head with a sigh.

Han Yan staggered, almost falling into the pond, but fortunately, Ye Lanfeng reacted quickly and caught her by the waist, preventing a mishap.

”You’re still laughing, still laughing?” Seeing the faint smile on Ye Lanfeng’s face, Han Yan was both exasperated and amused.

”Actually, I really envy you,” Ye Lanfeng said softly, his smile fading.

”Envy what?” Han Yan asked, looking into Ye Lanfeng’s eyes.

”Having parents who grew up with you, a grandmother who always thinks about you even when not around, and a grandfather who cares for you, family,” Ye Lanfeng said.

”What about your family?” Han Yan asked after a moment of silence.

”They passed away when I was very young,” Ye Lanfeng’s voice was calm, but Han Yan saw deep loneliness in his eyes.

”You still have your Master, your friends, and... me,” Han Yan said softly, leaning against Ye Lanfeng’s chest.

”Yes, I have you,” Ye Lanfeng replied, looking into Han Yan’s eyes.

The two embraced tightly, the setting sun stretching their shadows into a perfect picture.

...

In the morning, a carriage bearing the Anyun Royal Family’s emblem arrived at the Mu Mansion’s entrance.

Han Yan bid farewell to her grandmother, grandfather, parents, and others one by one. Finally, the day of departure arrived. Leaving this time, she didn’t know when she would return or even if she could return. Naturally, Han Yan was filled with reluctance and endless parting sorrow.
