Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1096: Chapter 1096: Resentment Over Dining With a Glutton

”I’m sorry, I didn’t know you would arrive so early, so I didn’t prepare much. Just make do with it,” Gu Yushu said sheepishly with a shy smile.

This is considered little? Mu Hanyan and the others were all stunned. Altogether, it must weigh about a hundred pounds, enough to feed twenty or thirty people, yet he claims he didn’t prepare much.

”If you consider his usual appetite, this would only be enough for half a meal,” Tan Yu explained, noticing Mu Hanyan’s surprise.

”Half a meal...” Mu Hanyan and the others didn’t know how to describe their feelings. They’ve seen big eaters, but never someone who could eat this much.

”I can’t help it, I’m too skinny. I need to eat more,” Gu Yushu added with a chuckle.

Skinny? You look like this and still think you’re skinny! Look at Gu Yushu’s waist, which three people couldn’t hug together, and then look at her own skinny arms and legs. Mu Hanyan was speechless.

A Brother Gu who’s as skinny as a bamboo pole but thinks he’s too fat and runs around the valley dozens of times a day to lose weight, and a Gu Yushu, who’s so plump you can hardly find his eyes, yet thinks he’s too skinny and eats over a hundred pounds of meat but still only feels half full—what are their brains made of?

It’s hard to imagine that Lord Gong, Gong Hongru, who always has a stern face and never treats anyone nicely, has such peculiar individuals around him.

Mu Hanyan suddenly felt that life at Long Yan Academy might be much more interesting than she had imagined.

”Young Master Gu, since you’ve traveled from afar, you must be hungry. Join us for a meal,” Gu Yushu said, producing a set of utensils from who knows where, serving each of Mu Hanyan’s group with a bowl of meat soup and a plate of roasted meat, and enthusiastically encouraging them to eat.

Mu Hanyan wanted to tell him that they were from the Capital and hadn’t traveled far at all, so they weren’t hungry. But it was difficult to refuse such hospitality, so she picked up the porcelain bowl.

As soon as the meat soup entered her mouth, Mu Hanyan felt a heat flow straight to her lungs and spread throughout her body, as if all her pores had opened up.

It was obvious that the stew contained not only Exotic Beasts but also many strange flowers and herbs. Not only was it rich in flavor, but it was also very nourishing, and the taste was notably good.

Though Mu Hanyan wasn’t very hungry initially, after a sip of the soup, her appetite was sparked. She took a bite of roasted meat, which was crispy on the outside and tender inside, greasy but not cloying, leaving a lingering fragrance in her mouth. She savored the roasted meat carefully, and before she knew it, a plate of roasted meat and a bowl of meat soup were gone, and she still wanted more.

”Delicious, so delicious! This nearly rivals my mother’s cooking. Brother Gu, give me some more,” Ling Baobao said, his mouth oily as he got chummy with Gu Yushu, calling each other brother and acting as if they were close, even attempting to put an arm around Gu Yushu’s shoulder. But try as he might, he could only touch half of his shoulder, unable to reach his neck.

”Sorry, I ate a bit quickly, there’s nothing left,” Gu Yushu said apologetically, rubbing his barrel-like belly.

Mu Hanyan and the others were dumbfounded, realizing that while they’d just finished a bowl of soup and a small plate of roasted meat, the roasted Exotic Beast, which had still been mostly intact, was now stripped to its bones, with not a shred of meat left, and even the soup pot was empty, not leaving a single drop.

”You... you ate it all?” Ling Baobao asked, wide-eyed and pained. Reflecting on some of his mother’s close friends’ reviews of her dining habits, he remembered they said she ate elegantly but incredibly fast. If they weren’t quick enough, there’d be nothing left on the table. He used to think they were exaggerating, but now he understood their feelings.

”Yeah, I’m about four-tenths full,” Gu Yushu said, patting his belly and looking unsatisfied.

Mu Hanyan and her companions looked at Gu Yushu as if he were a monster, wanting to pat his belly just to see if it was made of flesh or a storage space refined with alchemy.

Now they understood why Gu Yushu was this size—after all, he had devoured over a hundred pounds of meat laden with exotic herbs. For him to consume it all and only be forty percent full, his appetite must be enormous. If he weren’t plump, it would be unreasonable.

”Sigh, I haven’t been eating much recently, so I’ve lost weight,” Gu Yushu sighed and muttered to himself, patting his belly.

Mu Hanyan looked at Gu Yushu’s belly, which couldn’t be hugged by three people, speechless for a long time.

”Let’s go. Let’s first take Young Master Mu to see Lord Gong,” Tan Yu said.

”Let me clean up first,” Gu Yushu said as he went to the creek to wash the dishes.

He washed them meticulously, especially the large cauldron, until it was spotless. Then he carefully packed the dishes, swung the large cauldron over his shoulder, and led Mu Hanyan and the others deeper into Wenjian Valley.

”Whoosh”—a gust of wind swept by, and the bamboo pole-like Gu Linfeng appeared.

”Senior Brother Tan, big brother, look, have I lost weight? Have I?” Gu Linfeng asked eagerly, looking at Tan Yu and Gu Yushu.

Mu Han and the others watched his wide sleeves billow in the wind, tempted to ask, have you ever not been skinny?

”Yes, you’re much slimmer than when I left,” Tan Yu replied, apparently answering this question more than once, seriously reassuring him.

”Hahaha, I’ve finally lost weight, finally lost weight!” Gu Linfeng exclaimed, flipping and tumbling in excitement.

”Why don’t you eat more? You’re still so thin,” Gu Linfeng said, looking disdainfully at Gu Yushu’s belly.

”I can’t help it. I’ve been eating plenty these days, but no matter how much I eat, I just don’t gain weight,” Gu Yushu replied despondently.

”Sigh, if only I could share some meat with you,” Gu Linfeng sighed.

”Yes, I wish I could,” Gu Yushu said, enviously eyeing Gu Linfeng’s bony frame, touching his own oil-loaded belly.

Mu Hanyan and Huayue instinctively wiped the cold sweat from their foreheads. These brothers were beyond saving. Has no one ever told them the truth? No, maybe someone did, but they believed it was a lie...

Tan Yu introduced Mu Hanyan and the others to Gu Linfeng, who was both envious and excited. He was genuinely affectionate, accompanying them as they headed deeper into the valley.

Along the way, birds sang and flowers bloomed, with exotic grasses and strange flowers blooming in competition. Though they weren’t particularly valuable as herbs, their abundance across the mountains filled the air with an invigorating aroma, speeding up the flow of Qi.

When Mu Hanyan looked closely, she discovered that the distribution of these strange flowers and herbs wasn’t random; there seemed to be some method to their variety and placement.

”Did these strange flowers and herbs grow here naturally?” Mu Hanyan asked curiously.
