Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1087: Chapter 1087: Reason First, Then a Beating

Although she didn’t have any good feelings towards Jiang Qiling either, it was, after all, her first day at the academy, and strictly speaking, she hadn’t even stepped through Long Yan Academy’s gates. She didn’t want to stir up trouble so soon.

”What, are you scared now? If he’s willing to kneel and beg for mercy, I might let him off this once.” Jiang Qiling glanced at Han Yan and said contemptuously.

With her keen eyes, it wasn’t hard to see that Han Yan was the leader among these people, but she didn’t pay much attention to him either.

”I believe Long Yan Academy should have a competition platform. If you have any grievances, we can settle them there fairly,” Han Yan said calmly.

Though she didn’t want to stir up trouble, it didn’t mean Lady Mu would swallow her pride. It’s just that now that she’s at Long Yan Academy, she couldn’t be as flamboyant as she used to be.

”You want to have a fair match with me? Who do you think you are, to even be qualified for a fair match with me? Did you all hear that? He actually wants a fair match with me, hahaha...” Jiang Qiling looked at Han Yan as if looking at an idiot and laughed mockingly.

”Where did this fool come from, daring to challenge our junior sister without knowing how to write the word ’death’?” The two youths looked at Han Yan with pity, as if looking at an idiot, or more like a dead person.

”Don’t you know who he is?” Zirong and others looked at them with the same idiot-stare.

Since becoming famous in the entrance selection, Han Yan had become a hero in the hearts of thousands in the Capital, a figure countless young women screamed for, making Lady Mu reluctant to even leave the house. But seeing the other side, it was as if they didn’t recognize her at all.

After a closer look, Han Yan realized they were travel-worn and suddenly understood; these people were likely out training and only rushed back to the academy today, so they hadn’t witnessed her stunning sword strike during the entrance selection, nor had they heard of her name.

”Why should we know who you are? Do you think getting into our Long Yan Academy is that impressive? Offending our junior sister, you’re dead!” said the boy beside Jiang Qiling, mimicking a pompous attitude, pointing at Han Yan.

”Wasn’t Master Gong supervising this entrance selection? How could they even recruit such an ignorant fool who doesn’t know their limits?” Jiang Qiling mocked.

Clearly, Han Yan’s guess wasn’t wrong; these people had indeed just returned from traveling, so they knew nothing about her.

”Is that so? Since you are so confident, then let’s just settle it on the competition platform,” Han Yan said calmly, though he really didn’t want to make trouble and certainly didn’t want to toss away the title of the Capital’s top playboy just to gain another as Long Yan Academy’s top playboy. Even if it means getting physical, he can’t leave any evidence. After all, I’m a civilized person now, not like the previous times where I’d fight at the drop of a hat. Now, I reason first, then fight.

This Jiang Qiling was obviously a young lady with some natural talent, some strength, and was spoiled by her house. Had she been born a male, she would be the epitome of a vengeful young master. Even if she were willing to swallow her pride, the other party would absolutely not let it go.

”Fine, fine, since you’re so bent on courting death, I’ll...” Just like the overbearing young noblemen Han Yan was most familiar with, Jiang Qiling chuckled coldly several times, seeming ready to accept Han Yan’s challenge.

”Junior sister, you’re back! Younger brother is late to welcome you; I beg your forgiveness, junior sister.” At this moment, a young swordsman hurriedly approached, wiping sweat from his face, speaking to Jiang Qiling.

”Hmph.” Interrupted by him, Jiang Qiling let out a cold, indifferent snort, clearly dissatisfied.

Han Yan frowned slightly. This young swordsman was Qiu Ping’an’s Seventh Uncle, Qiu Zizhong. A few days ago, he conspired with Qiu Ping’an to frame Han Yan, who had been expelled from the Capital after having his cultivation destroyed, and the Qiu Family was gradually heading towards its end. However, the other disciples of the Qiu Family weren’t affected and remained in the academy. Whether the Qiu Family could prolong their decline for a few more years or escape their predicament entirely, it mostly depended on them.

Of course, none of this concerned Han Yan. People like this despicable man, Han Yan wouldn’t give the time of day. What really intrigued her was who exactly this young lady named Jiang Qiling was?

Looking at Qiu Zizhong’s expression, it was obvious he was trying to ingratiate himself with Jiang Qiling, while Jiang Qiling clearly didn’t care about him. To be polite, she was disdainful, but more accurately, she looked at him like a piteously wagging dog. As a disciple of Long Yan Academy, would Qiu Zizhong really need to stoop this low?

Clearly, this Jiang Qiling had a very complex background.

At this point, Qiu Zizhong noticed Han Yan as well, his eyes showing a bit of fear, but mostly hatred.

The same day Han Yan defeated Yue Fanchen, Family Head Qiu led the Qiu clan back to East State County. Afterwards, news came that Family Head Qiu had an acute fit of anger and uncontrollably demonized, leaving the entire Qiu Family in fear, scattered like sand. Before the other major families of East State County could intervene, the Qiu Family had already fallen into internal chaos.

At this time, with just a small push from anyone with intention, the Qiu Family, once prominent and one of the top three families in East State County, could collapse.

Qiu Zizhong, of course, didn’t blame Qiu Ping’an, but saw Han Yan as the cause of it all!

As a disciple of the Qiu Family, watching his family head towards demise, how could Qiu Zizhong not be filled with hatred towards Han Yan?

Qiu Zizhong made no attempt to conceal his hatred. The last time they tried to defame Han Yan, their plot was extremely dastardly. If Han Yan had been even slightly careless, she would’ve fallen into their trap, been kicked out of the selection field, and could’ve never joined Long Yan Academy again, which, for many naturally talented swordsmen, would mean the end of their futures.

Therefore, he didn’t think Han Yan would just ignore the incident. Since they were already mortal enemies, why bother hiding it?

”You know him?” Jiang Qiling noticed the hatred in Qiu Zizhong’s eyes and asked.

Qiu Zizhong hesitated for a moment, stepped closer, and used Gathering Qi Transmission to say something.

Han Yan could sense it, that despite Jiang Qiling’s spoiled nature, her strength was indeed impressive, so she didn’t bother to eavesdrop on what Qiu Zizhong was saying. However, looking at his expression, she could guess that he was talking about her identity and possibly the shocking strike during the entrance selection.

Because she noticed, by the time Jiang Qiling was done listening, her eyes had slightly hardened, her expression becoming much more serious.

Soon, Qiu Zizhong finished his words and respectfully took two steps back.
