Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 717: 717, I want you to be buried with me!

”Master, save me, I don’t want to die,” Mu Ziping came to and was terrified at the scene. Although his talent and strength were decent, having lived a sheltered life in the Capital and highly regarded by several elders, he had never experienced anything like this and was now so scared his heart was nearly leaping out of his chest.

”Is this the Destructive Forbidden Technique?” Mu Hanyan silently shook her head.

She had seen the Forbidden Techniques of Yue Ji and that temple Sword Saint, and this was completely different. The terrifying power that enveloped the outside of Heishi City was not the Power of Heaven and Earth, but clearly the Nine Heavens Star Power contained within the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate.

Clearly, what Zhao Yuanji was using was not some Destructive Forbidden Technique; rather, he used a Secret Technique to stimulate the terrifying power within the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate to its extreme, which is why it unleashed such a horrifying might. Moreover, Mu Hanyan could feel that the Nine Heavens Star Power within Zhao Yuanji’s Heavenly Destiny Star Plate was completely different from Mu Tianlie’s; it was filled with dark and deathly aura, brutally fierce to the utmost degree.

Mu Hanyan attempted to absorb and refine that power using the Heavenly Heart Technique, but the Star Power suddenly erupted in full force and, being wildly brutal and fierce, far exceeded her current cultivation limit. Even if she could absorb a little, it would largely be futile.

No wonder she felt something was off when Zhao Yuanji made his move earlier. Only now did she realize that his strength was most likely related to this Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, and it was fortunate he hadn’t completely refined the Star Power within it, otherwise it was unimaginable how strong he could have become.

Nevertheless, the current situation was not optimistic.

Both Mu Rui’an and Mu Hanfeng took to the air at the same time, their longswords slashing toward Zhao Yuanji.

One was a Fifth Rank Sword Master, the other only a First Rank Sword Master, but his longsword was the legendary Chi Xiao Divine Sword, his true combat power far surpassed that of his peers.

As the two swords were unsheathed, Qi Light surged like two Gray Dragons soaring in the sky.

”Xie zhou wu fan si bo mou lin...” Zhao Yuanji ignored them, chanting the spell over and over again.

”Hummm...” The Heavenly Destiny Star Plate in his hands emitted buzzing sounds, also filled with a bloodthirsty intent for slaughter.

A dark red blood light burst forth carrying the aura of death and destruction, covering Mu Rui’an and Mu Hanfeng father and son.

Amidst the thunderous noise, the pair were shaken so hard they staggered back repeatedly.

Not waiting to regain their footing, the two roared like tigers and charged forward again.

However, with Zhao Yuanji’s chanting, the terrifying Nine Heavens Star Power kept exploding, and even they couldn’t break through the blood-red glowing patterns.

Were Mu Rui’an and his son unable to stop Zhao Yuanji? Everyone’s faces turned pale.

The Great Elder and others were about to step forward but stopped upon seeing this; if even Mu Rui’an and his son were powerless, what could they do? They would only add to the chaos.

”Hisss,” Zhao Yuanji spat out a mist of blood from his chest. It seemed he couldn’t withstand the backlash of the immense power from the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, which caused his meridians to burst open.

At the same time, the cracks on the ground widened, a chasm half a foot wide with jagged, discontinuous lines streaked from the city center across the landscape, revealing a bottomless abyss when peered into.

Countless ancient buildings teetered on the brink of collapse, threatening to fall at any moment. Desperate cries of anguish rose and fell throughout the city, as if the apocalypse had descended.

”Zhao Yuanji, have you gone mad? Your death may not matter, but destroying Heishi City means your entire Zhao Family, young and old, will be wiped out. Do you truly wish to see the Zhao Family line end?” Xu Family Master yelled in shock and horror.

”Hmph, even if Heishi City wasn’t regretted, wouldn’t my Zhao Family’s line still face extinction? Today, my Zhao lineage is certainly doomed, so you, follow us in death, hahahaha.” Zhao Yuanji laughed and roared crazily.

”He’s really gone mad,” Xu Family Master muttered. The disciples from various families who had come to support the Mu Family with him all showed faces filled with regret and despair.

”Family Head, you and the others must go quickly, don’t mind us,” the Great Elder urgently called out to Mu Rui’an.

Given their strengths, they certainly couldn’t escape, but Mu Rui’an and Mu Hanfeng might still have a chance. There was no need for them to accompany them to their death.

Mu Rui’an and his son shook their heads firmly. The barrier of light outside indeed seemed much weaker; he and Mu Hanfeng did have a chance to escape. However, on the city walls were their relatives, friends, and the disciples of the Wu Family who had hurried over to support the Mu Family; how could they possibly abandon them?

Mu Rui’an and his son exchanged looks, then once again, with all their might, they launched a sword slash at Zhao Yuanji.

Seeing this scene, everyone from the Wu and Yuan families deeply admired them. If it had been anyone else with such strength, who would have cared for family or friends? They would have put their own survival first. It’s no fear of running out of firewood when the green hills are saved; as long as such strong individuals live on, there was always a chance for their families to thrive again. Even if they were abandoned by them, no one would have any complaints, all for the sake of their family’s future.

But they, without any hesitation, stayed behind to engage in a decisive death battle with Zhao Yuanji.

Even outsiders felt this way; the disciples from the Mu Family’s branch families were moved to tears.

No matter how long they had been away from the Capital, they were ultimately descendants of the Mu Family. Mu Rui’an’s family had never treated them as outsiders. Instead, they saw them as close kin, treating them with equal consideration.

Blood-red radiance burst forth from the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, like a swath of red lightning.

Loud explosions were deafening, and the ground was as if swept by a tornado, a complete sandstorm.

Moments later, as the smoke cleared, Mu Rui’an and his son were blasted tens of meters away, both of them in a sorry state, with blood also seeping from the corners of their mouths.

Seeing such an outcome, even the people from the Mu Family started to feel a bit of despair: Was it really impossible to stop Zhao Yuanji today?

Zhao Yuanji at this time, his clothes soaked through with strands of blood, was spewing large clots of blood from his mouth, obviously also severely injured. Yet, he continued to chant spells incessantly, the earth kept heaving and trembling, and the abyssal crevasses continued to expand.

Everyone knew that unless his chanting could be halted, in the end, Heishi City would ultimately be destroyed, plunging into an endless abyss.

But if even Mu Rui’an and his son couldn’t stop him, who else could?

”Family Head Zhao, we are descendants of the Mu Family from Capital City. Today’s matters do not concern me and my disciple; please be magnanimous and let us leave,” Mu Yunshui trembled all over, speaking to Zhao Yuanji with a crying voice. He had not easily reached his position today, and how could he bear to just throw his life away here in Heishi City?

”Lord Sacrificial Officer, you... you...” The Great Elder saw Mu Yunshui acting so cowardly and craven, feeling both embarrassed and infuriated, unable to even speak.

The other Mu Family disciples looked at Mu Yunshui and his disciple with contempt on their faces. Not even other families like the Yuan, Wu, or even Xu Family Master had begged for mercy yet, but they had gone and bent the knee first. As descendants of the Mu Family, even their faces were made to blush with shame.
