Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

”I’m not trying to do anything. I’m just here to demand an explanation.”

”Are you hoping my husband will marry her?” Zoe Ellsworth snorted. ”Not a chance.”

”You vicious woman! You’re only acting so high and mighty because your family is rich and powerful. And your brother is just an actor! What’s there to be so arrogant about?”

Zoe Ellsworth’s eyes narrowed. ”An actor? Did he put on a show for your son? Or your husband? Stop trying to pull rank with your age. This isn’t a retirement home!”

Mrs. Rhodes was furious. ”Herman, say something!”

Herman Hawthorne stood up. ”There’s nothing to say. See yourselves out.”

He then took Zoe Ellsworth’s hand. ”Let’s go home, honey.”

Mrs. Rhodes was absolutely livid.

Zoe Ellsworth waved her hand. ”Guards!”

A group of men immediately appeared at the door.

”Escort these people out.”

Shea Rhodes shot to her feet in a panic. ”Young Madam, I work for the boss.”

”Then didn’t you make it clear to your parents that your boss is already married? Yet you let them come here and cause a scene. Your parents’ actions may not be your fault, but I’m only giving you one chance. This is your only warning.”

Shea Rhodes nodded. ”Thank you, Young Madam!”

Soon after, Mrs. Rhodes, her husband, and Bianca Rhodes were escorted out the front gate. Zoe Ellsworth and Herman Hawthorne left together.

The two of them didn’t speak much on the drive. But when they reached their front door, Zoe Ellsworth couldn’t hold it in any longer. ”Honey, if they come looking for you again, can we just not let them in?”

Herman Hawthorne chuckled. ”My wife is such a badass. Alright, I get it.”

Although Zoe Ellsworth still felt some lingering dissatisfaction, the sight of his smile made it all melt away. Suddenly, none of it seemed to matter anymore.

Marlon Marshall’s smug mood vanished the moment he got the call from Quentin Grant.

He stared at the video on his phone, confirming that the woman in the steamy clip was, without a doubt, his own mother.

To him, his mother was everything.

His own life was worthless, he didn’t care about it, but his mother was different.

He and his mother had relied on each other to survive since he was a child. He’d worked hard to get into college, where he met Jean Grant.

Thinking of this, Marlon Marshall felt he had truly dug his own grave.

He regretted it.

If nothing had happened with Carol Young, his life would still be perfect and prosperous.

His child with Jean would have been born soon. But ever since he cheated, everything had changed.

He staggered back to his front door.

It was the same home as before. After living in a villa, he had come full circle, right back to where he started.

He took out his key and opened the door.

No one was home.

Marlon Marshall found something to eat, then went back to his room to play games.

Just as he was getting into the game, he heard the front door open. He muted the sound, stood up, and yanked open his bedroom door.

For a moment, time seemed to freeze.

Standing next to his mother was a young, handsome man.

It was the man from the video.

Seeing the star of that steamy video in the flesh, Marlon Marshall was consumed by a towering rage. ”Who is he?” he asked, his voice ice-cold.

Mrs. Marshall hadn’t expected her son to catch her red-handed bringing Jason Irving home.

In her haste, she lied, ”He’s here to pick something up.”

Marlon Marshall’s eyes blazed with fury. ”Mom, you’re still lying to me? You think I don’t know who he is? I got a video of you two yesterday. Mom, you want to take a look?”

Mrs. Marshall panicked and immediately stepped forward. ”Where? Let me see.”

Marlon Marshall played the video for her.

Mrs. Marshall’s expression changed the moment she saw it. Her hands began to tremble. She was utterly mortified that her own son had seen this.

She immediately deleted it.

”Drake, we’re in a real relationship now. You should support us.”

Jason Irving stood to the side, smirking silently, not taking a side.

”He’s a gigolo! You’re dating a gigolo, Mom! Do you take me for a fool?” Marlon Marshall swung his fist at Jason Irving.

Jason Irving dodged back, causing the punch to miss. Marlon Marshall kept lunging at him.

The two men were instantly locked in a fierce fight, neither giving an inch.

”Stop it!” Mrs. Marshall shrieked, frantic with worry.

But the fight only intensified. Marlon Marshall grabbed a chair and smashed it over Jason Irving’s head. The blow left Jason dizzy and bleeding.

Mrs. Marshall was terrified. ”Stop it, both of you!” she screamed.

When that didn’t work, she threw her arms around her son’s waist and yelled at Jason Irving, ”Hurry up and go!”

Jason Irving turned, opened the door, and fled in panic.

Marlon Marshall shoved his mother’s hands away and glared at her. ”Mom, if you ever see him again, I’ll kill him. Then I’ll kill myself. You can just live all by yourself.”

Hearing this, Mrs. Marshall immediately relented. ”Okay, okay, Mom won’t see him anymore. Son, don’t do anything foolish. You’re the only family I have left.”

Marlon Marshall slowly calmed down. ”If I see it happen one more time, Mom... try me. See what happens.”

Mrs. Marshall nodded. ”I won’t.”

This incident hit Marlon hard. For the first time, he suddenly understood how Mr. Young must have felt.

But it was just a fleeting thought.

After dinner at home, Marlon Marshall headed to a casino. He planned to use the 100,000 he’d gotten from Mrs. Young to bet big and win back all the money he’d lost on his ”investments.”

But to his surprise, he was wiped out again that night. Not only did he lose everything, but he also ended up 120,000 in debt.

Marlon Marshall spent the whole night cursing. The more impulsive he got, the worse his luck became.

In the morning, he went to Mrs. Young’s place.

Carol Young woke up to find him there again.

She was furious. She couldn’t believe Marlon Marshall had gone back on his word and come to her mother again.

”Marlon Marshall!”

He opened his eyes and saw her. ”What do you want?”

”Didn’t you promise me you wouldn’t ask my mom for money anymore?!”

Mrs. Young opened her eyes as well and grumbled, ”It’s an investment. We’ll get a return. What are you so worried about?”

Carol Young ignored her and looked straight at Marlon Marshall. ”How much do you want this time?”

Marlon Marshall acted as if he couldn’t be bothered with her.

Carol Young thought about her father’s death. Seeing the scene in front of her now, her heart turned to ice.

She went into her room, locked the door, and slid to the floor.

Thinking about her current situation, she felt that Marlon Marshall had destroyed her life.

He thought she had ruined him; she thought he had ruined her.

They were on completely opposite sides.

’All the money is gone. I have no savings left.’

’The university expelled me.’

’No man, no money, and my body is ruined.’

Carol Young buried her head between her knees, mourning her fate.

”Auntie, can you give me another 200,000?”

The voice from outside the door made her snap her head up.

She shot to her feet and yanked the door open.

”Mom! That’s my sister’s settlement money! You can’t give it to him!”

Mrs. Young had long since lost all hope in her daughter. ”I’ll give it to whomever I please. Oh, so now you remember I’m your mother? You’re home all day, but you never give me the time of day.”
