Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Chapter 166: Chapter 164: He Has Always Been a Man Who Moves My Heart (Part 4)

”Ahem. I heard the power was out in your building’s hallway. A big shot like me can’t get caught by the press, so I decided to get a workout in here. Not bad, I’m all sweaty.”

Nora Ainsworth closed the door and scoffed, ”Well then, President Grant, you carry on. I won’t disturb you.”

The door slammed shut. Quentin Grant stared at it, so stunned he forgot about his throbbing foot.

Nora leaned against the door, unmoving. After a while, she thought he had left and opened it again.

As luck would have it, he was still standing there.

”Are you trying to be a guardian spirit for my doorstep?”

Quentin Grant sneered. ”Could a humble little place like yours even afford a venerable figure like me?”

Nora folded her arms. ”Then why are you still standing here?”

”Can’t I take a break?”

Nora was speechless. She grabbed her bag from inside, locked the door, and started to head downstairs.

Seeing her go down, Quentin Grant followed.

She walked quickly, but his sore foot made him move extremely slowly. When he realized he couldn’t catch up, he grew anxious and let out a wail. ”AHH!!!”

It was as shrill as a cat in heat.

Nora stopped in her tracks. She looked back and saw he hadn’t come down, nor could she hear any footsteps, so she went back up to check.

”Did you fall and die?”

Quentin Grant cursed inwardly. ’Damn girl, your husband is about to die from a fall, and you’re still making snide remarks.’

”I can’t move. I seem to recall someone twisting their ankle once, and it was me who treated it for her. I wonder if she has a conscience now?”

Nora approached, using her phone as a light. She crouched down, yanked up his pant leg, and saw that his ankle was indeed swollen.

She had no choice but to say, ”I’ll help you back.”

”Mm.”

He draped his arm over her slender shoulders. Leaning on her as they descended step by step, Quentin Grant was in the best mood he’d been in for days.

He was smiling.

Nora slowly helped him to the bottom of the stairs, then step by step toward his place across the way.

As they neared their destination, Quentin Grant found himself wishing for time to slow down, just so he could have a little more of this moment so close to her.

But no matter how much he wished, the journey had to end.

Nora reached out and rang the doorbell. The captain of the Men in Black came to answer it. When he saw the two of them, his expression changed instantly. ”What happened to our Young Master?”

Nora said, ”He sprained his ankle. You should help him inside. I’m going back now.”

Just as the captain was about to nod, he caught a look from his Young Master and immediately understood. ”I can’t. We have urgent business to attend to. Could I trouble you to help him inside, Miss Ainsworth?”

With that, he scurried away.

Nora was half-dead with exhaustion and couldn’t believe how unhelpful his subordinate was.

She couldn’t help but complain, ”Your captain is even worse than a regular Man in Black. How can he not care if you live or die? It must be because of how you usually treat them that nobody likes you, right?”

Quentin Grant grunted in agreement. ”Mm.”

”I knew it. You should treat them better.”

She was panting with exhaustion from supporting his tall frame.

After finally making it to the living room sofa, Quentin acted as if he’d lost his footing and fell right on top of her, pinning her to the couch.

”Ah! You’re so heavy! Get off! You’re crushing me!” Nora’s face was squished out of shape.

”I want to get up, but it’s like all my strength has been drained. What should I do?”

Nora pushed upwards with all her might and finally shoved him off, letting out a long sigh of relief.

She went to a familiar spot and brought out the first-aid kit. ”Looks like your Men in Black aren’t going to treat you. I guess I’ll lower myself to do it this one time. I’ll just pretend I’m helping a homeless man.”

Quentin Grant didn’t argue, just watched quietly as she tended to his injury, applying an ice pack and rubbing in the ointment.

”I’m surprised... the first-aid kit is still in the same place.”

He spoke slowly. ”Ever since you left, nothing in this house has been moved. I was afraid that if I changed anything, you wouldn’t be able to find things if you ever came back.”

Nora’s hands froze. An unbearable, sharp pain pierced her heart.

After tidying up and putting the kit back in its place, Nora said emotionlessly, ”I’m leaving.”

Quentin Grant didn’t ask her to stay. Doing so would reveal his desperation. In front of her, he had to maintain his composure. He absolutely couldn’t let her see through him, couldn’t let her think the harsh words he’d said were just empty threats.

As they watched Nora leave, a group of Men in Black stood there, looking at each other in confusion.

Man in Black A: ”Why did Miss Ainsworth leave? Isn’t she going to stay and... tumble around with our Young Master?”

Man in Black B: ”Tumble your ass. Can’t you see they’re not even together anymore?”

Man in Black C: ”So what exactly is the Young Master up to? I can’t figure him out.”

The captain walked over. ”Stop gossiping. Our Young Master has his own plans. You small fry should get back to your posts.”

The group dispersed. The captain walked toward the living room and stopped at the entrance. ”Young Master, you just let Miss Ainsworth leave like that?”

”What else?”

”True. Now that Nora Ainsworth is living in the building across from us, it’s much more convenient for you to do as you please, Young Master.”

Quentin Grant looked up. ”If it’s not convenient for me, you’re not suggesting it’s convenient for *you*, are you?”

The captain gave a dry laugh. ”You jest, Young Master.”

”Get back to your duties. Stop worrying about things that don’t concern you.”

”Yes, yes.”

Quentin Grant leaned back on the sofa, thinking about what had just happened. A trace of sweetness bloomed in his heart. ’She still cares about me. Could it be because of our past?’

At that thought, Quentin Grant felt as if his foot didn’t hurt at all anymore.

Nora Ainsworth was in a foul mood after leaving Quentin’s apartment. When she got to her own stairwell, she discovered that the power was on for all the other floors—only hers had been out. And now, miraculously, her power was back on too.

Quentin Grant’s appearance proved once again that this was no coincidence.

Nora got into the elevator and rode it up to the fourth floor.

Once inside, she suddenly remembered her binoculars. She took them out of a cabinet, tested them, and went out onto the balcony to look across the way.

At the Grant villa, only the second-floor bedroom light was on; the rest of the house was dark.

She opened a window, sat in her hanging chair, and listened to some music before going to sleep.

「The next day」

Just as she finished washing up, Zeke Marshall came in with breakfast. He said while eating, ”Nora, you can do your makeup when you get to the set.”

Nora nodded, putting on a baseball cap and sunglasses. ”Let’s go. We’ll eat in the car.”

An hour later, the car arrived at the film studio.

When she got out of the car, not a single reporter swarmed her. Unfazed, Nora walked calmly toward the hotel.

After dropping off her luggage, she went to the makeup room.

She changed into an expensive, sponsored costume and sat before the mirror to have her character’s makeup applied.

Madam Shaw, draped in a cloak, sat down next to her, crossed her legs, and held a cigarette between her fingers. As a thin wisp of smoke began to rise, she turned to Nora. ”The newcomer is here pretty early.”

Nora offered a polite, poised smile. ”You’re also very early, Shaw.”

Just then, a makeup artist came over. ”Are you ready for your makeup?”
