Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Chapter 132: Chapter 130: Did You Go Lay an Egg? (Part 1)

”You found the phone?”

Quentin Grant took it out of a drawer and handed it to her. ”Jean was the one who found it. She called Ethan Ellsworth.”

Nora Ainsworth looked down at the phone and said in a low voice, ”There are so many unsent text messages in here.”

He hugged her from behind. ”I saw them all.”

Nora Ainsworth gently pulled away from him. ”I’m going to the bathroom.”

”Want me to go with you?”

Nora Ainsworth quickened her pace. ”Cut it out.”

Watching her silhouette in the bathroom, a profound sense of satisfaction washed over Quentin Grant. ’Heaven has truly been good to me,’ he thought.

He opened the closet, took out two bathrobes, and casually pushed open the bathroom door.

Nora Ainsworth was standing there, turned to the side.

With an unreadable glint in his eyes, Quentin Grant closed the door.

He drew closer to her, his eyes drifting to the large mirror. They were both reflected there: the woman, a vision of graceful curves; the man, his suit slightly open to reveal a blue shirt, his hair stylish and his features devastatingly handsome. The handsome man and beautiful woman made for a perfectly matched pair.

The one thing they shared was the rapturous smile on their faces—a smile that reached their eyes, making them both radiate a dazzling glow.

”Nora,” he embraced her.

Nora Ainsworth wrapped her arms around him. ”Quentin.”

But he stubbornly took her by the wrist, his gaze earnest. ”Wouldn’t it be nice to have a child? One with my eyes, your nose, my mouth, and your face? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?”

Nora Ainsworth’s heart fluttered. An image of a soft little baby instantly appeared in her mind—fair and chubby, its little face a perfect blend of her features and his.

Afterward, Nora Ainsworth was utterly exhausted. She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep in his arms.

The next morning, Nora Ainsworth was woken up by the sound of Ethan Ellsworth’s voice.

”It’s the crack of dawn! Hurry up, everyone’s waiting for you two!” came Ethan Ellsworth’s infuriating voice.

Quentin Grant bit out a single word: ”Out!”

Ethan Ellsworth snickered. Pinching his nose to disguise his voice, he said, ”Young Master Grant, I’m a reporter with the entertainment media. Might I ask what you’ve been up to since last night?”

Quentin Grant couldn’t be bothered to answer him.

After their night of passion, Nora Ainsworth was glowing, her cheeks as rosy as peach blossoms. When the two of them came downstairs, Ethan Ellsworth had already been waiting in the living room for over ten minutes.

”Didn’t you say everyone was here and just waiting for us? Why do I only see you?” Quentin Grant asked through gritted teeth.

”They’ll be here any minute, any minute.”

As soon as Ethan Ellsworth finished speaking, footsteps echoed from not far outside the living room. He stood up and grinned at Quentin Grant. ”See? They’re here.”

The words had barely left his mouth when the smile on his face froze.

The person who walked in wasn’t Herman Hawthorne, but Jean Grant. With her was a sharply dressed Marlon Marshall. The two were holding hands as if they wanted to announce their relationship to the world.

Quentin Grant’s eyes flashed. Watching the two of them slowly approach, he asked bluntly, ”What are you doing bringing him here?”

Jean Grant lifted her and Marlon Marshall’s joined hands. ”Brother, I’ve decided to formally introduce Marlon to Mom and Dad. We’ve been together for a while now; it’s time he met them.”

Quentin Grant cut her off. ”Jean, come meet Nora.”

Jean Grant looked at Nora Ainsworth, unconsciously letting go of Marlon Marshall’s hand. She took a few steps forward. ”You’re really alive! This is incredible!”

Nora Ainsworth smiled at her. ”Your brother told me you were the one who found my phone. Thank you, Jean.”

Jean Grant laughed breezily. ”It’s nothing, just a coincidence. I just... I really didn’t know about you and my brother before. I always thought you were Herman’s girlfriend.”

Nora Ainsworth said gently, ”Back then, your brother didn’t want us to go public, so that’s why.”

Jean Grant winked at Quentin Grant. ”I get it. I know what my brother is like.”

Quentin Grant cleared his throat. ”If there’s nothing else, you should head home. We have things to do soon.”

Beaming, Jean Grant said, ”Brother, I wanted to bring Marlon to meet you first. What do you think of him?”

”I’ve already met him. There’s no need for another meeting. Besides, do you really care about my opinion? You never listen to what I say, so why are you asking me now?”

”Fine. Then Marlon and I will head home.”

Jean Grant looked dejected. She took Marlon’s hand again, and the two of them left.

Watching them walk away, Quentin Grant snorted. ”Jean’s taste in men really is something else. He didn’t even say hello.”

He turned to Ethan Ellsworth. ”Ethan?”

Ethan Ellsworth forced a smile. ”I know what you’re going to say, Young Master Grant. I’m not Jean’s type. She doesn’t get me. I don’t blame her.”

”How about I arrange a chance for you two to meet alone so you can have a proper talk with her?”

Ethan Ellsworth shook his head. ”No need. No matter how much I like someone, I won’t humiliate myself like that. Besides, what’s the use of saying anything now? It would only make her think I have an ulterior motive.”

’Listening from the side, Nora Ainsworth could only think that love was truly an unfathomable thing. You love her, she loves him... For two people to love each other back, it must take an incredible amount of fate.’

Quentin Grant patted Ethan Ellsworth’s shoulder. ”Jean is a fool for passing you up—even I, as her brother, think so. But then again, this is the path she chose, and she has to see it through to the end. She’s the only one who can know if it’s right for her.”

Ethan Ellsworth gazed at the doorway, burying his true feelings deep in his eyes.

After Herman Hawthorne arrived, the four of them took a car to the police station together.

News of Nora Ainsworth’s return from the dead spread quickly through Alveria. The internet was in an uproar once again, with everyone questioning whether it was true or fake.

But what people wanted to know even more was whether the woman’s foot that had been recovered back then really belonged to Nora Ainsworth.

This presented a new case for the police: Whose foot was it? Were the woman’s other body parts still somewhere in the river? How did this woman die? A series of questions emerged.

Nora Ainsworth personally explained the events from the moment she was at the Seagull Hotel’s entrance to when she jumped into the river. She also explained that she had put her anklet on the woman’s foot to ensure her own safety.

After her statement was taken, the chief of police personally shook Quentin Grant’s hand. ”To survive against all odds is a true blessing. However, our department will immediately form a special task force to investigate that foot. If Miss Ainsworth hadn’t come forward herself, another life might have been overlooked. Regardless, this case must be investigated from top to bottom to give the public the answers they deserve.”

Nora Ainsworth bowed. ”I feel guilty for not being able to come forward and clarify things sooner, but Quentin and I will be following this case closely.”

Her words added another layer of pressure on the chief. Even though he already felt like he had a mountain weighing down on him, he didn’t dare say anything else but, ”Of course, of course!”

A crowd of reporters happened to be waiting outside the main gate. Quentin Grant glanced at them. ”I’ll have to trouble you to help clarify this mix-up, Chief. People online are very skeptical, but your words carry weight.”
