Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 264: Chapter 264: The Doomed Cannon Fodder Woman 33

There was still a large pot of pig trotters and peanut soup simmering in the pot, which she intended to save for after childbirth during her confinement.

For the New Year’s Eve dinner, Yuan Chun set up eight dishes and a soup, and poured herself a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. While eating, she watched a comedy show she had selected.

The player was a laptop she had brought out from her own space, and on the USB drive attached to it, she stored a large number of TV series and novels. She turned the volume to the lowest setting, thoroughly engrossed in both watching and eating, occasionally letting out a laugh.

However, far away at the farm, Lin Baoshan and Li Yimin were having a hard time.

Li Yimin was delicate-looking with fair skin. As soon as she arrived at the farm, several stewards set their eyes on her. However, considering her husband was by her side, they didn’t dare to openly snatch her away, but the work assigned to Lin Baoshan was not only much more than the others, but it was also the dirtiest and most exhausting job of carrying manure.

The work assigned to Li Yimin was also the heaviest and most tiring land reclamation work among the women,

Though Lin Baoshan and Li Yimin were rural people, they had both grown up pampered by their parents, rarely having to do heavy or tiring work, let alone work in the fields.

Li Yimin had never worked in the fields at all.

Lin Baoshan did occasionally work during summer and winter vacations, but it was always light work. Now, one had to carry manure, and the other had to reclaim the land. By the end of the first day, they were bone-tired, lacking even the energy to eat.

What’s more, despite being so exhausted, they hadn’t managed to complete their tasks, resulting in their meal portions being cut by half.

Both tired and in pain, and unable to eat enough, they couldn’t bear it after a couple of days and ran to complain to Mr. Li.

Mr. Li was no longer the team leader and was now a prisoner. Faced with the complaints of his son-in-law and daughter, he found himself powerless. Although he was accustomed to farm work and adapted quickly to the farm, he too had tasks to complete. If he helped his daughter and son-in-law with their work, who would do his tasks?

The food he received was only enough to fill him six or seven parts full. He didn’t dare share it. If he gave it to his daughter and son-in-law, he would go hungry.

Without food in his stomach, he wouldn’t have the energy to work?

Moreover, he resented his daughter and son-in-law for causing him to lose his position as team leader and for getting him into labor reform. So when his son-in-law and daughter begged him with tears, he resolutely refused.

He said, ”Xiao Min, Baoshan, this is the farm, not the Lin Family Village. Here, crying or begging won’t get you special treatment or help. You have to rely on yourselves.”

But Lin Baoshan was not someone who wanted to rely on himself.

Realizing that several stewards were interested in Li Yimin, Lin Baoshan secretly approached the steward with the highest authority and secretly sold Li Yimin to him in exchange for an easier job.

That night, Li Yimin was tricked by Lin Baoshan into an empty room and was coerced by that steward. Returning at dawn, she went mad, tearing and hitting Lin Baoshan.

Afterwards, Li Yimin was also given a much easier task, helping in the canteen where she could get enough to eat and not go hungry.

However, since that night, she often went to that empty room, staying there the whole night until dawn.

Due to her sacrifices, life became much easier for her and Lin Baoshan. Occasionally, they could even enjoy some snacks, and Li Yimin could wear a new dress.

Mr. Li also got a lighter workload. However, when the team leader learned that Lin Baoshan had sold his daughter, he gave Lin Baoshan a severe beating.

But he did not dare to confront the steward.

Later, he tacitly accepted his daughter’s way of handling things.
