The Yellow-Haired Villain in Soaring Phoenix's Novels Also Desires Happiness

“Come with me.”

Her golden pupils burned as they met his eyes, yet her voice was soft and lilting, like a drop of water atop a high mountain, like a breeze passing through a valley stream, and also like...

A thunderbolt crashing down from a perfectly clear sky.

Although no one dared directly resist that unimaginable pressure, some instinct buried deep in humanity made every one of the hundreds of pairs of eyes inside the chapel widen to their limits. Every gaze gathered there.

As though that slender, flawless jade hand she had extended was more worthy of admiration than any work of art.

Also being “admired” was Muen himself.

He felt like he had become a stone.

Struck by dripping water.

Scraped by the wind.

And smashed over and over again by thunder from a clear sky.

“No...”

After standing there stunned for a very long time, Muen, whose mind could not possibly be more blank, finally dragged his soul back down from where it had nearly ascended on the spot. With great difficulty, he squeezed one sentence from his throat and broke the suffocating silence.

“Um... big sister? Beauty? Lady Calamity? When you make an entrance... could you maybe take a tiny look at the atmosphere first? Running up here and saying something like that out of nowhere makes it very easy for people to misunderstand.”

“Atmosphere? What atmosphere?”

Hamreign’s gaze did not shift even slightly.

It was as though, to her, this entire room full of the Empire’s strongest figures simply did not exist. In those golden pupils like ancient bronze lamps, only Muen’s figure was reflected.

“The wedding!”

Muen nearly collapsed.

More baffling than suddenly being sent to the execution ground was suddenly getting married.

And more, more, more baffling than suddenly getting married was...

When those doors opened, the one who entered was not the bride.

It was a calamity.

Honestly, if the ones who had suddenly charged in were An, Liya, Anna, or Ariel, he could have understood. He had even expected that.

But he had never, ever imagined that this Calamity, the Dragon of Death and Doom, whom he had met only once...

No, twice—

Would suddenly appear in Belrand, and even barge into the wedding halfway through.

Was this scientific?

No, it was not scientific!

It was not even fantasy!

Since ancient times, weren’t princesses the profession most likely to be snatched away by evil dragons?

He was just a poor, helpless, weak little yellow-haired man!

“If you come up here like this... people will very easily misunderstand that you’re here to crash the wedding!”

From the corner of his eye, Muen looked at the hundreds of figures inside the chapel.

Their degree of confusion was no lower than his own, but some had already reacted and were secretly taking out image-recording magical devices...

With a bang—

The device shattered.

That person realized something and instantly went pale with fright.

“Wedding? Crashing the wedding?”

Hamreign tilted her head slightly in thought, as though searching through memories from a very distant past.

“Oh, I remember. It is the ceremony through which human females and males join together. It is very important to you?”

“Yes, yes!”

Muen nodded hard.

“Extremely important!”

After all, it only happened once in a person’s life...

No, wait. For him, once might not be enough. Unless one ceremony could include several at the same time—

“I see. I understand your thoughts.”

Hamreign nodded lightly.

“Humans are always like this. You value all manner of useless ceremonies more than anything. Perhaps because your lives are too brief, you desperately try to leave behind every kind of trace.”

“Yes, yes!”

Muen became a merciless nodding machine, nearly moved to tears.

“This is one of the most important traces in life!”

Heaven have mercy.

Among all the beautiful girls he had encountered so far, the easiest one to talk to was actually—

“But what does that have to do with me?”

Hamreign’s cold words suddenly turned like a heavy hammer smashing into Muen’s forehead, almost making him twist his neck.

“I came here to take you away. That is all.”

I take it back.

She is not easy to talk to at all!

“No... what I mean is, can’t we choose another time?”

Muen’s cheek twitched, but he still forced himself to calm down and attempted one final struggle.

“For example, you could wait here for a day or two... no, half a day. Half a day at most. The wedding will be over in half a day, and then I can discuss whether or not I’m leaving with you...”

“No.”

Hamreign’s tone was cold, leaving no room for negotiation whatsoever.

“You will come with me now.”

“I’m telling you, although I don’t know why you came here, this will really make them misunderstand!”

Muen’s words turned pleading, almost begging.

“Lady Calamity, it doesn’t matter if they misunderstand me. I’m used to it already. If there aren’t at least a few rumors about me on the streets, I’d actually feel uncomfortable. But you’re different. You’re the famous Dragon of Death and Doom. How could you possibly be misunderstood?”

“Is that so?”

Hamreign frowned slightly.

“That is true. Being misunderstood is indeed not a pleasant experience.”

“Right? I’m saying all this for your sake. So why don’t you first—”

“Then there is no need for misunderstanding. Just treat it as though I have come to crash the wedding.”

“???”

“!!!”

“Whoa...”

One stone stirred a thousand waves.

All the various top-tier powerhouses inside the chapel seemed to transform into frog spirits at that moment, their mouths stretching wide enough to swallow an ostrich egg.

As for Muen...

He felt like he could fit a dinosaur egg in his mouth.

Huh?

Calamity?

Huh?

Dragon of Death and Doom?

What virtue or ability did a tiny yellow-haired man like him possess to have his wedding crashed by her?

“L-Lady Calamity, although I know you look down on many things and care even less about the opinions of mere humans, some words really cannot be said carelessly!”

With tears in his eyes, under several hundred burning gazes, Muen tried desperately to salvage the situation.

“Forget crashing a wedding—we’re not even that close, are we? We’ve only met twice, right? Isn’t suddenly doing this a little too...”

“How are we not?”

Hamreign’s golden pupils suddenly narrowed, and her pressure grew even heavier.

“You accepted my bodily fluid. My mark is already on you. You have long since become my possession.”

“???”

“!!!”

“Whoa...”

Another stone stirred a thousand waves.

Several hundred gazes locked onto Muen once more.

If those gazes had contained panic, shock, confusion, and pity just a moment ago, then now they revealed only one meaning:

Amazing.

Muen Campbell, you absolute fucking legend.

Muen: “......”

What bodily fluid?

What mark?

How did he not know about this?

Could the occasional burning sensation in his lower abdomen be—

No, wait. Those things had nothing to do with crashing a wedding at all!

I really am not close with this dragon!

Everyone, don’t believe it!

Although I may indeed be somewhat scummy in a certain sense, I am not scummy enough to—

“We are leaving.”

Clearly, Hamreign no longer wanted to give Muen any chance to keep rambling. With a direct wave of her jade hand, an invisible force rolled outward and lifted Muen into the air.

Muen tried to struggle.

But obviously, he could not even break free from the special anti-magic shackles on his body, much less the restraint of a mighty Calamity.

Muen could only cast another hopeful gaze toward everyone in the audience.

No matter what, they were still the Empire’s top combat forces. Someone was openly snatching a person right in front of them—and that person was their son, student, and benefactor. Surely they had to do something—

“Damn it. I never thought I’d give birth to a son like this!”

The Lion King Lorne covered his face, as though he could no longer bear to look.

“He actually even... even... sigh!”

Muen: ???

“Sigh. I always knew this brat would cause trouble, but I never expected him to cause this kind of trouble. This is simply a disgrace to the academy. A disgrace!”

Professor Prang turned his head away forcefully.

“In the future, don’t tell anyone I was the one who taught you Illumination.”

Muen: ???

“Today is the orphanage’s peace and friendship exchange day. I must set a good example for the children.”

King Indra pressed his palms together and silently recited an ancient scripture from the western desert.

“Violence is inappropriate.”

Muen: ???

No, you pack of cowardly bastards! At a critical moment, can’t you just—

“Mmph—”

Muen’s roar was swallowed by the void.

Because Hamreign’s figure flashed.

And with him in tow, she completely vanished from the spot.

Snatched away on the spot.
