**

A mass of black flame roared to life, surging wildly.

As the scorching heat spread through the air, the poisonous miasma that had filled the surroundings suddenly recoiled in fright, writhing as it retreated. It actively avoided them, not daring to approach within ten zhang of where the group stood.

”Just this layer of poison fog alone is enough to stop more than eighty percent of the people here. The Ancient Wasteland Region truly lives up to its reputation!” Xiao Yan sighed after helping Medusa purge the poison insects.

”We’ve only just entered, and it’s already given us such a harsh welcome.”

These poison insects might not be dangerous in small numbers, but if one failed to notice them in time, they would multiply within the body. Once they reached a terrifying number, the poison they released would become instantly lethal.

Just like the Dou Zun corpse lying not far away. By that time, any resistance would already be too late.

”Let’s move!”

The dark forest filled with miasma continued to echo with shrill screams that carried even from far away. Although the screams made many people more cautious, others still fell victim to the poison. The entire forest had become shrouded in an atmosphere of deathly terror.

Whoosh~

From within the thick fog came the sound of something slicing through the air. Faint arcs of lightning and black flames flickered in the darkness, and wherever they passed, the poisonous mist retreated in fright, automatically clearing a ten-zhang-wide path ahead of them.

As they advanced—

”Looks like these poison insects really are afraid of Heavenly Flames,” Ah Da remarked with a grin. A faint black wind slithered quietly over his body, clinging to his skin. As he watched the mist part on its own, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

”Heavenly Flames naturally restrain poison. Most poisonous creatures are yin and cold in nature, while Brother Wei’s Heavenly Flame is pure yang and extreme heat — it’s no wonder they fear it,” Xiao Yan said with a small smile.

He glanced back toward the massive crowd behind them. Nearly ten thousand had entered, but those who could truly pass through this poisonous region might not even make up ten percent.

”The Ancient Wasteland Region, a forbidden land for humans... it truly deserves the name,” Medusa murmured softly. This was merely the outer edge. No one knew what kind of dangers awaited in the depths ahead.

”The poison fog up ahead is getting thinner. Looks like we’re about to make it out of this area,” Xian’er said as she looked around. The air ahead had grown noticeably clearer.

”Good. Let’s speed up. We were a bit slow coming through — those major factions are probably already deep within the central region of the Ancient Wasteland Region,” Wei Yang said with a nod.

Immediately, the group increased their pace, their figures shooting forward like arrows leaving the string.

Xian’er’s perception proved accurate. The deeper they went, the thinner the poisonous mist became, until eventually — it vanished completely. After safely breaking through the poisonous region and traveling a bit farther, Wei Yang and the others landed atop a massive boulder.

From there, they looked ahead — and their expressions grew solemn. A vast, pitch-black chasm stretched before them, nearly a thousand zhang wide, like a bottomless wound carved into the earth — a true abyss that barred their path.

The abyss was so deep that the bottom was shrouded in darkness and toxic vapors, making it impossible to see the end. It extended endlessly to both sides, like a colossal crack in the world itself, reaching beyond the horizon.

When their gazes lifted to the far side, they saw an endless stretch of mountain ranges beyond the abyss. Those mountains towered tens of thousands of feet high, like slumbering dragons coiled across the vast land.

A primal, ancient aura emanated from them, sweeping through the heavens and earth. Across that abyss lay the true heart of the Ancient Wasteland Region. Everything they had faced before — the poisonous fog, the dark forest — was merely the outermost edge.

Whoosh~

Staring at the boundless, ancient mountain range on the opposite side, the group exhaled softly. A trace of gravity flickered in their eyes. They were about to truly set foot into the Ancient Wasteland Region.

Even from here, they could faintly sense the presence of many fierce and terrifying auras lurking within that endless expanse of mountains. Even with Wei Yang and his group’s strength, they could still feel faint traces of danger emanating from those distant auras.

”The vicious beasts here have been isolated from the world for countless ages. They are direct descendants of ancient bloodlines — their strength is terrifying,” Medusa said softly.

”Although their violent nature has stunted their intelligence compared to magic beasts of the same level, their raw power and physical toughness far surpass them.”

Wei Yang nodded slightly.

With a wave of his hand, a jade-green bead appeared in his palm. It was the Bodhisattva Seed — the one refined from the Bodhisattva Body Transformation Saliva. After some research, Yao Lao had returned it to him before their departure.

The Ancient Wasteland Region was unimaginably vast, stretching endlessly in every direction. To locate the exact position of the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree within it would not be easy.

Not to mention, the region was swarming with fierce beasts beyond counting. If they were to recklessly wander about, even with their combined strength, it would be far too dangerous.

Clutching the Bodhisattva Seed, Wei Yang closed his eyes, carefully sensing the fluctuations within. After quite some time, he finally opened them again. His gaze turned northwest as he said quietly, ”It’s still too far away to pinpoint its exact location, but... it should be in that direction.”

”Let’s go.”

Putting away the Bodhisattva Seed, the group wasted no more time. With a light tap of their feet on the massive boulder, their figures shot upward like great eagles taking flight. In an instant, they stepped into the air, rapidly soaring toward the opposite side of the abyss.

Though the chasm was nearly a thousand zhang wide, such a distance was nothing to them — in the blink of an eye, they had crossed it completely and appeared on the other side. However—

Roar!

Just as they set foot upon this new land, several black shadows suddenly erupted from the mountains ahead, carrying with them a nauseatingly strong stench of blood. In a flash, they shot toward Wei Yang’s group in midair like lightning bolts.

”Hm?”

The sudden ambush made Wei Yang’s brow twitch slightly. His step paused briefly, but his expression remained calm. With a casual flick of his sleeve—

Boom!

A surge of scorching wind exploded outward, slamming into the incoming shadows with terrifying force.

A few whimpers echoed through the air as several massive black beasts — their bodies as large as bulls, eyes glowing blood-red — were blasted out of the sky and crashed heavily to the ground.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The giant hound-like beasts hit the earth hard, leaving behind several deep craters.

”This area is crawling with fierce beasts, all extremely aggressive. They attack without hesitation, no matter who it is,” Xiao Yan said, frowning.

”We can’t just fly openly like this. Not only would it attract the attention of other intruders, but it would also draw endless waves of beasts — that’d be more trouble than it’s worth.”

”Agreed.” Wei Yang nodded.

These particular beasts weren’t strong, easily dealt with, but deeper within the domain, things would be different. If they continued to fly openly, the constant disturbances would become a serious problem.

At once, the group descended slowly to the ground.
