**

The vast Star Region was deathly quiet. Purple-black flames coiled through every corner of the void, rising and burning without pause.

The entire Star Region resembled an enormous furnace, the air saturated with blistering heat. Any ordinary expert taking a single breath would likely ignite with a bang and become a living fireball.

The eruption and disintegration of the Three Thousand Burning Flame had truly turned this region into a purgatory-like forbidden zone of death.

Within that endless sea of purple-black fire, a faint emerald light flickered.

Drawing closer revealed a shield of ghostly green flame. Inside the flame shield sat three figures—two shrouded in black, one in white—each cross-legged. The two in black kept their eyes tightly shut.

Beside them stood a golden-skinned Sky Demon Puppet, motionless and expressionless.

Meanwhile—

At the very center where the colossal dragon had exploded and dissolved. This was a strange space filled with purple-black fire, almost no different from the outer Star Region.

The only distinction was the sound: instead of the eerie silence outside, here came furious dragon roars and the constant thunder of exploding flames.

Within that storm of fire a black sun hovered, blazing brilliantly.

Endless black radiance shot out like needles of light, piercing into the purple-black flames and drawing nourishment.

Next to the black sun floated a four-colored lotus platform. Around it swirled a ring of four-colored flame. Inside, the slightly translucent figure of Xiao Yan sat cross-legged.

Within the black sun—

Wei Yang’s soul form also sat in silent meditation, eyes closed, utterly unmoved no matter how the purple-black fire dragon outside attacked and bombarded.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Massive purple-black fire pillars smashed against the black sun, making it quiver and ripple, but it remained rock-solid and unshaken.

”Despicable humans, dare you come out and fight me to the death?”

Unable to break through the defense and finding that the terrifying heat it unleashed had no effect on the two humans, the Three Thousand Burning Flame grew more and more irritable.

It could clearly feel its own strength quietly waning with time. Part of that was the drain from its relentless assaults. But the greater reason was that cursed black sun—another treacherous Heavenly Flame!

That sun was secretly and ceaselessly siphoning its energy. The process continued without end. At this rate of give and take, the Three Thousand Burning Flame knew it would eventually be finished.

So it raged, went wild, and attacked with reckless abandon. Yet no matter how it roared, howled, or struck, the opponents stayed curled inside that black sun, showing no sign of counterattack.

Such shameless tactics made it seethe. It was nothing less than waiting to die.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The frenzy only made the Three Thousand Burning Flame more violent as it drove its flames to strike again and again.

But the result only deepened its fury. And that four-colored lotus was no good thing either. The human hiding within was just as strange.

As its power ebbed, it was horrified to notice the strength of Xiao Yan inside the flame barrier slowly and mysteriously rising.

It was as though he, like that shameless black sun, was secretly drawing on its power in some even more uncanny way. The realization sent the Three Thousand Burning Flame into a fresh frenzy.

This was bullying a flame too far!

Both humans were draining it for all it was worth.

Several days later—

Within the black sun, Wei Yang slowly opened his eyes.

Buzz, buzz, buzz—

The black sun trembled gently, sending a wave of pleased intent.

Delicious, delicious, full, full—

Wei Yang smiled. ”Full now? Satisfied?”

Buzz, buzz, buzz~

The black sun replied happily. But it clearly signaled that it wanted to keep eating. Wei Yang was speechless. He shook his head and refused.

”That’s enough. You can’t eat any more.”

One meal was fine, but if it kept feeding, the very core of the Three Thousand Burning Flame would be seriously damaged.

Keep this up and it wouldn’t just be stripping the flame’s wool—it would be stripping Xiao Yan’s wool instead.

Buzz, buzz, buzz~

The black sun quivered lightly, sending out a pleading, almost coquettish intent, clearly unwilling and eager for more.

”You can’t keep devouring its core. That’s the energy Xiao Yan needs to advance his Flame Mantra. After we finish dealing with the Three Thousand Burning Flame’s core, there will be endless energy outside for you to eat. Are you really afraid of running out?” Wei Yang scolded, exasperated.

Glutton. All you know is how to gorge yourself.

Wei Yang knew well that outside lay an entire Star Region—an endless sea of fire. That was a vast reservoir of energy, formed from countless years of starlight gathered by the Three Thousand Burning Flame. How could there not be enough to eat?

The only worry was whether it could digest it all.

In the original story, after Xiao Yan successfully devoured the flame’s core, he was left dumbfounded by that boundless sea of fire.

In the end, he only absorbed a tiny portion before giving up. Did Xiao Yan not want it? Was he not tempted by such infinite energy?

Of course he was tempted, but he had no choice.

First, he simply could not digest it in a short time.

Second, he was racing against the clock. Devouring the Heavenly Flame’s core alone had taken him over half a year, and other urgent matters awaited. There was no time to sit and slowly absorb and refine the rest.

So in the end, Xiao Yan had to abandon that sea of fire.

He even left so extravagantly that he used some of the flames to condense so-called Fire Lightning Bead. He planned to use them as hidden trump cards—explosive thunderbolts to strike at Dou Zun experts.

Naturally, the few Fire Lightning Bead he created were less than a drop in that endless ocean of fire, barely worth mentioning.

Wei Yang had long set his sights on that immense energy. So much high-quality power—leaving it here unused would be a pure waste.

”Xiao Yan, how’s it going? Everything still on track?” After calming the Death Life Flame’s mood, Wei Yang sent a voice transmission to the neighbor within the lotus.

Hearing the message, Xiao Yan slowly opened his eyes on the lotus platform. A trace of delight surfaced on his face as he replied, ”Not bad. It’s going smoothly.”

”Good.” Wei Yang gave a soft grunt of acknowledgment.

Then his gaze pierced through the black sun toward the purple-black fire dragon still attacking in a frenzy.

At this moment, the fire dragon born of the Three Thousand Burning Flame’s core had sunk into extreme madness, with a hint of despair in its roars.

Its aura was clearly far weaker than it had been several days earlier. This was the result not only of the Death Life Flame constantly draining its power these past days, but also of the energy it wasted in its relentless assaults. And of course, Xiao Yan played his part.

The core power of this Heavenly Flame was, with every passing moment, quietly merging into Xiao Yan’s body. This strange phenomenon was tied to the Dragon Seal within him.

As Zi Yan had said, the Dragon Seal she had planted in Xiao Yan was, in essence, of a higher grade than the one within the Three Thousand Burning Flame’s core.

That was why Xiao Yan could, without a sound, seize the chance to draw strength from the Heavenly Flame’s core.

Using the Dragon Seal to control the Three Thousand Burning Flame was a double-edged sword—dangerous. But now, with things unfolding this way, it meant the scales of victory were already tilting toward Xiao Yan.
