Chapter 179: Chapter 102: Little Auntie, Watch Out, I’m Going In

Gu Xiangzhu looked at Zhao Ci’s furrowed brow. ”You don’t need to be so troubled. You did that girl from the Kan Family a huge favor. If you were a little more shameless and demanded she become your Mansion Official, she definitely wouldn’t refuse.

With her Thunder Skill Cultivation, if she really tried, she might just be able to bring down Prince Lie’s Mansion.”

”Let’s not.”

Zhao Ci winced. ”The Kan Family seems to be cursed by the heavens, always having only a single heir per generation. And in this generation, it’s just her, a single woman. To persuade Mr. Kan, my Imperial Father even promised that, aside from my eldest legitimate son, they could pick one of my other children to carry the Kan surname.

If I drag her into the conflict between mansions, how is that any different from uprooting the Kan Family entirely?

She does owe me a favor, and I’m sure she wouldn’t refuse if I asked.

But I helped her out.

And she once risked her life to save me.

A favor like that... I don’t want to use it this way.

It’s like with you.

You’ve helped me with so much.

That wasn’t so you could coerce me into doing things I don’t want to, right?”

Gu Xiangzhu faltered. ”I...”

’Once you enter the Demon Sect...’

’There are so many things you have to do against your conscience.’

’I’m a member of the Demon Sect!’

’My heart is black and vicious!’

’Do you really think I’m as pure and noble as you naive little boys?’

But she couldn’t say that out loud.

She simply changed the subject. ”There are actually quite a few disciples from major clans who want to join a mansion this time. They have points, too. If you accept them as Mansion Officials, their points will be added to your total.”

”Well...”

Zhao Ci waved his hand. ”Forget it. How strong can the ones leftover from the other major mansions be? I tested two of them today, and they were really nothing special.

The one with the most points only beat five people, I hear. Right?

Seems pretty useless, and they’d just take up the limited slots for Mansion Officials.”

Gu Xiangzhu smiled and shook her head. ”Why would I be thinking of relying on them? I mean, I could use a Soul Skill to possess one of those major clan disciples, help you rack up some points, and when I’m done, I’ll just kill him and dump the body. Your Mansion Official slot will open right back up. You’ll just get a small deduction in merits, that’s all.”

Zhao Ci was speechless.

A chill ran down his spine.

She spoke of possession and murder as casually as if she were slaughtering a chicken.

She had been helping him so much lately, and it seemed her beauty had secretly leveled up a few notches too.

As a result, his guard against her had dropped considerably.

Only now did it hit him—this was a Witch who could kill without batting an eye!

Gu Xiangzhu was a little displeased with his reaction, but she seemed to understand something and added, ”There are plenty of wrongdoers among the disciples of the major clans. Since ancient times, those who build great legacies don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s not shameful to climb to the top by stepping on their corpses.”

’Of course there are plenty,’ Zhao Ci thought, ’but you don’t get to be the one who defines what’s ’wrongdoing’.’

Zhao Ci felt a knot in his stomach. At least, with his current moral compass, he couldn’t bring himself to just pick someone others deemed wicked and have them killed and possessed.

Seeing his prolonged silence, a slight smirk touched Gu Xiangzhu’s lips. ”What? You don’t even want to kill wicked people?”

Zhao Ci shook his head. ”I have to ask, is this ’wrongdoing’ defined by law, by the common people, or is it simply what *you* consider to be wrong?”

Gu Xiangzhu raised a delicate eyebrow. ”What I consider wrong, of course!”

’This kid is being a little difficult,’ she thought.

’So indecisive!’

’He’s great in other ways, but this part is just so annoying.’

Zhao Ci looked at Gu Xiangzhu. ”If one day my actions fit your definition of wrongdoing, would you kill me?”

Gu Xiangzhu was silent.

[Gu Xiangzhu’s Current Wish: If one day Zhao Ci becomes my enemy, I hope I will feel no guilt after I cripple him. Reward for completion: Insight +1000, Innocent Talisman x1.]

Zhao Ci was speechless.

’Well, isn’t that just great!’

’She really is ruthless enough.’

’Her focus isn’t even on whether she could bring herself to do it, but on whether she’d feel guilty afterward.’

’Still, a thousand Insight points... I can see you’re pretty conflicted about it.’

’Oh, thanks a *whole* lot!’

Gu Xiangzhu’s smile was warm. ”Of course not!”

Zhao Ci was speechless.

’Goddammit!’

’You say you won’t!’

His expression was full of emotion. ”You... why wouldn’t you?”

Gu Xiangzhu reached out a slender hand and patted his cheek. ”You silly boy. You won’t make me angry.”

Zhao Ci was speechless.

’Dodging the real question.’

’And now you’re teasing me?’

He suddenly seized the hand she had placed on his cheek.

Gu Xiangzhu was caught off guard, a flash of annoyance in her eyes. ”What do you think you’re doing?”

Zhao Ci held her hand, pressing it against his own face. ”See? I can make you angry.”

Gu Xiangzhu was speechless.

’How childish can you be!’

She pulled her hand back, her face a mask of confusion. ”You call *this* making me angry?”

Zhao Ci took a deep breath, wrapped his arms around her, and gently sniffed the side of her neck. ”How about now?”

Gu Xiangzhu: ”!!!”

’On the bed.’

’You dare embrace me like this?’

’Do you think I’m a pushover?’

She sent Zhao Ci flying back with a single palm strike, her beautiful eyes glaring at him. ”What is the meaning of this?”

Zhao Ci was tongue-tied. ”I...”

His gaze flickered away, as if he were utterly mortified.

His face was beet red.

His heart was pounding so hard you could hear the THUMP-THUMP-THUMP from a distance.

He stammered, ”I... I lost control. So you really do get angry... I... you...”

Gu Xiangzhu was speechless.

’So his innocent young heart just lost its defenses?’

’But that makes sense.’

’On a quiet night like this, me sitting on his bed... it probably is a bit much for a young man like him.’

Her expression softened. ”I’m not angry. But you still need to control yourself. Don’t let it happen again.”

She stood up abruptly, turning her back to Zhao Ci. ”You don’t need my help, and I won’t force you. The cost of a forced possession is indeed high... but just because I won’t do it doesn’t mean the person who wants you dead won’t. Be careful these next few days.”

With that,

she dissolved into a wisp of smoke and vanished from the room.
