After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1105: Chapter 1109: Xu Xia’s Emotional Knot (Part 1)

”Yeah, how did you know?”

”Because I was talking about that event too.” Tang Ming laughed, ”I was just thinking, after the press conference, you could be my date for the banquet.”

”Sure, no problem.” Xu Xia immediately agreed, ”Those banquets are annoying. Having you there would make for a perfect shield!”

At such banquets, those so-called elites always try to strike up a conversation with her, which she finds incredibly bothersome. But since it’s work-related, she couldn’t just refuse. With Tang Ming there, he could help fend them off, making it a win-win situation, which she naturally wouldn’t turn down.

”This press conference is going to be big, will Mr. Leng Zimo attend?” Tang Ming casually asked.

”He...” Xu Xia shook her head. ”I’m not really sure, probably not. He should be quite busy lately.”

”Makes sense. Recently, Mr. Leng seems to be dealing with family matters. Personally, I admire him a lot; it’s a pity I won’t get to see him.” Tang Ming observed Xu Xia’s expression. ”From what I know, Miss Luo Xiaoqian participated in the Huaxia Idol competition with you back then. Do you know each other?”

”Of course, Xiao Qian and I are good friends.” Xu Xia replied offhandedly.

”Really?” Tang Ming feigned surprise, ”But speaking of it, it’s such a shame. Mr. Leng’s grand proposal back then moved the entire world, and now the two of them ended up like this.”

”Ah!”

Hearing him mention Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo, Xu Xia just sighed deeply, picked up the glass, and drank it all in one go.

Tang Ming took the bottle and poured her a drink, ”In the past, because of you, I paid more attention to Miss Luo. I remember her as an innocent person. I can’t understand why the media wrote about her like that!”

”It’s all just hype. Those media outlets are always afraid of not having news.” Xu Xia was filled with righteous indignation, ”Saying Xiao Qian did it for money is all nonsense. If she really cared about money, why would she leave back then instead of just marrying Leng Zimo? Wouldn’t that have given her more money than she could ever need?!”

”I suspect Miss Luo must have her reasons!”

”Of course, she’s my friend. How could she be that kind of person?” Thinking about Luo Xiaoqian being criticized lately, Xu Xia felt a deep sadness. She grabbed the cup and downed another drink, ”It’s all my fault!”

If it weren’t for her introducing Dr. Yin to Xiao Qian back then, Leng Zimo wouldn’t have lost his memory, and Xiao Qian wouldn’t have been hurt like this.

Thinking about this, Xu Xia was filled with guilt.

”I know you’re well-meaning, but such things aren’t necessarily your fault. Why blame yourself?” Tang Ming consoled.

”No, Tang Ming, it really is partly because of me.” Xu Xia grabbed the bottle and filled her glass, ”If it weren’t for me, maybe Xiao Qian and Leng Zimo wouldn’t be like this now!”

Tang Ming watched her drink without stopping her, sensing from her words that Xu Xia seemed to know something about the situation between Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo.

When people are in a bad mood, it’s easy to get drunk. After three drinks, Xu Xia already showed signs of intoxication.

Lately, watching the conflict between Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo intensify, Xu Xia genuinely felt sorry for Xiao Qian.

Because back then she introduced Dr. Yin to Luo Xiaoqian, Xu Xia always believed that her actions led to the current situation between Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo; this became an unresolved emotional burden. Hearing Tang Ming bring it up made her feel even more oppressed.
