The Duke's Pampered Darling is So Scheming

Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Prying

Ye Chutang was genuinely taken aback, pointing to herself. ”Me?”

”That’s right!”

The Eldest Princess even looked quite hopeful.

”You know Qingzhou better than anyone. If you go with him, it’d be like giving a tiger wings! Wouldn’t the case be solved in a heartbeat?”

Ye Chutang was speechless.

Hearing this, Xiao Wu finally paused his chopsticks and looked up at his sister.

Seeing Ye Chutang’s hesitation, the Eldest Princess added, ”Of course, it was just a suggestion. After all, a trip like that will likely be a long and arduous affair.”

Ye Chutang nodded. ”It’s no trouble for me, but His Majesty is still sick. I’m afraid I’m needed here...”

The Eldest Princess clapped her hands as if waking from a dream.

”Oh dear! Look at me, how could I have forgotten about that?”

Ye Chutang was speechless.

’So, you were so focused on your grandson you forgot about your own brother?’

The Eldest Princess looked a little embarrassed, too.

She’d had this little scheme in mind, thinking it was a rare chance for the two of them to get closer. It would be a great opportunity to give her grandson a little push. But in her excitement, she had completely forgotten about Emperor Muwu.

Mostly, she just hadn’t expected that Ye Chutang would diagnose Emperor Muwu’s heart condition after only a single consultation.

And from the sound of it, Ye Chutang had a way to treat him.

This meant that for the foreseeable future, Ye Chutang had to remain in the Capital City.

”Well then... *sigh*... let’s just forget about it for now!”

The Eldest Princess sighed internally. What a shame.

Ye Chutang tried to reassure her. ”Please don’t worry. The Princely Heir is brilliant and exceptionally capable. He’ll have no trouble solving these problems, even without outside help.”

Ye Chutang was speaking the truth, but the Eldest Princess still couldn’t quite get over her disappointment.

She gave Ye Chutang a long, searching look.

’She could read her own grandson’s intentions as clear as day, but Ye Chutang... what was on her mind?’

After all, Ye Zheng’s name had been cleared. With Ye Chutang’s background and beauty, there had to be countless men interested in her.

Previously, people had been hesitant because Ye Zheng had incurred His Majesty’s wrath and been disgraced.

But things were different now!

More importantly, from what she could see, Ye Chutang didn’t seem to have any intention of marrying at all...

After turning it over in her mind, the Eldest Princess could only say, ”W-Well then, when you have a chance, you should explain the situation in Qingzhou to him in detail.”

A small smile touched Ye Chutang’s lips as she nodded. ”You can rest assured. I was already planning on it. The Princely Heir is helping me, so I am naturally very grateful.”

Every word of her reply was calm and composed.

The Eldest Princess could only console herself. ’It’s good that she’s staying in the Capital City. At least if any other young man tries to make a move, I’ll be the first to know.’

A knowing, ”I told you so” look flashed in Xiao Wu’s eyes before he happily lowered his head and went back to eating.

’Qingzhou is so far away! Plus, the journey is long and tiring, and she’d have to investigate a case. If my sister really went, she’d be too exhausted to even get out of bed!’

...

By the time Ye Chutang and Xiao Wu returned home, the sky had grown completely dark.

She walked through the courtyard and into her room. After lighting a lamp, she glanced toward the window.

It was as if a powerful presence had brushed past outside.

Ye Chutang raised an eyebrow.

She felt a gentle tug on her sleeve. Looking down, she saw Xiao Wu staring with wide, dark eyes, his gaze following hers in the same direction.

’There’s someone outside, Sister!’

Ye Chutang actually smiled and gently pinched the Little Bun’s soft cheek.

”You’re a sharp one.”

An ordinary person would never have been able to perceive such a subtle disturbance.

Though Xiao Wu was still young, his senses were preternaturally sharp.
