The Duke's Pampered Darling is So Scheming

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: Why Bother?

From start to finish, Princess Qingyang didn’t even spare him a passing glance.

”...”

Murong Ye’s mouth hung half-open, but not a single word came out.

The servant behind him was quite puzzled as well, unable to stop himself from muttering, ”Is Princess Qingyang in a hurry? She didn’t even greet the Young Master?”

Murong Ye felt the sting of humiliation, his expression souring. ”So what if she greets me or not? We have nothing to do with each other. Why should I care!?”

Hearing the cold, hard edge and simmering anger in his voice, the servant quickly clamped his mouth shut.

But a knot of indignation remained stuck in Murong Ye’s chest, making him extremely uncomfortable.

He forced himself to look away. Just as he was about to walk on, he suddenly remembered something and turned back around.

Seeing his master’s strange expression, the servant ventured, ”Young Master, what is it? Is something amiss?”

Murong Ye frowned thoughtfully. ”That looked like... the direction of the Han Family’s estate. Don’t tell me something has happened to them.”

’The Ye Family and the Han Family have a delicate relationship. At such a critical time, why would Princess Qingyang suddenly head over there!?’

The servant asked uncertainly, ”So, Young Master, should we follow her and take a look?”

”Forget it.” Murong Ye hesitated for a moment before dismissing the idea.

’Princess Qingyang always does as she pleases. She might not even be going to the Han Family. If I follow her now, she’ll probably think I’m pestering her.’

’I should go to the Ye Family’s estate first. I can only rest easy once I’ve confirmed that Ye Shixian is safe.’

’It won’t be too late to investigate the Han Family after that.’

With that thought, Murong Ye said curtly, ”Let’s go!”

...

「The Han Family Estate.」

Inside and outside the room, the two sides were at a standstill.

Han Yao was growing impatient. His temper flaring, he couldn’t stop himself from roaring:

”Where is Shen Yanchuan! If he doesn’t get here soon, I’ll kill Ye Chutang!”

Agitated, he dragged the sharp dagger across Ye Chutang’s fair, slender neck, drawing blood.

”Sister!”

Ye Yunfeng’s pupils contracted in shock!

Ye Chutang gave him a reassuring look, signaling him not to worry, before saying with a hint of resignation:

”Han Yao, if your grudge is truly with Shen Yanchuan, then just go after him. Why do you have to drag me into it?”

Shen Yanchuan, who had just arrived at top speed with his heart in his throat the entire way: ”...”

Han Yao let out a cold laugh. ”You’re the one who saved his life. With your own life hanging by a thread today, if he doesn’t do everything in his power to save you, how will he ever show his face in the Capital City again!?”

Ye Yunfeng shouted, ”Han Yao! As long as you don’t touch my sister, we can negotiate anything! But if you dare to hurt her again, I swear you will regret what you’ve done today!”

But Han Yao reacted as if he’d heard a joke, madness filling his eyes.

”Regret? What do I have left to regret!? If it comes to it, we’ll all die together!”

’In such a short time, the Han Family had collapsed. Not only had he failed to rescue his father, but he’d been met with a great fire that had turned all the Han Family’s years of hard work to ash!’

’He had nothing left to lose!’

Ye Yunfeng’s fists clenched. ”My sister saved your wife and child! It’s bad enough you’re not grateful, but now you’re going to repay her kindness with this?”

A flash of deep pain crossed Han Yao’s eyes.

But the look was fleeting. The veins on his forehead bulged and his eyes turned scarlet as he tightened his grip on Ye Chutang’s neck. ”Enough talk! If I don’t see Shen Yanchuan right now, I’ll—”

Before he could finish, a cold, sharp male voice cut in.

”I’m here. Whatever you have to say, say it.”
