The Duke's Pampered Darling is So Scheming

Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Come Here

Ye Chutang staggered slightly.

At the same time, Ye Yunfeng reacted with lightning speed, pulling Xiao Wu into his arms and moving into the space Ye Chutang had just vacated.

It all happened in an instant.

Ye Yunfeng quickly looked down at Xiao Wu in his arms. ”Xiao Wu, how are you? Are you okay?”

Xiao Wu was still a little dazed. Hearing Ye Yunfeng’s words, she belatedly shook her head.

’I’m fine! Big Sis and Fourth Brother are here, so of course nothing will happen to me!’

Ye Yunfeng’s worried heart finally settled. He frowned and looked at the culprit not far ahead.

”Whose family are you from? Don’t you know how to watch where you’re going? What if you had run into someone!?”

It was a boy who looked to be six or seven years old, dressed in rich, expensive clothes.

Hearing Ye Yunfeng’s words, not only did the boy’s face show no trace of guilt, but he was also extremely arrogant. ”Insolent! Do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that!”

When Ye Heng saw him, his heart skipped a beat. He sternly rebuked, ”A Feng! How dare you speak to Young Master Xie like that!”

Ye Chutang’s gaze flickered.

’The Xie Family?’

In the Xie Family right now, only one child’s identity matched his description: Xie Yulin, the eldest legitimate grandson of Marquis Zhongyong, Xie Pei.

’No wonder he dared to be so brazen here, and it’s no surprise that Ye Heng has this attitude.’

Ye Yunfeng hugged Xiao Wu tightly, his expression turning cold. ”He almost ran into Xiao Wu!”

’That brat is built like a little calf. If he had really crashed into Xiao Wu, she would have definitely gotten hurt.’

Ye Heng grew even more irritated. ”Isn’t Xiao Wu fine now?”

’If we offend this young master, we’ll all suffer for it!’

He turned his head and gave Xie Yulin a fawning smile. ”Young Master Xie, please don’t take offense with us. It’s all a misunderstanding...”

Xie Yulin sized up Xiao Wu for a moment, then pointed a finger at her. ”Then have her play with me!”

Xiao Wu didn’t like his commanding tone, and she especially hated being pointed at like that. Her little brows furrowed, and she turned to hug Ye Yunfeng’s neck—out of sight, out of mind.

Ye Heng was caught in a dilemma.

Just then, Ye Shixian stepped in to smooth things over.

”Children get along with each other so easily, especially since Xiao Wu and Young Master Xie aren’t far apart in age. Xiao Wu, why don’t you go play with Young Master Xie for a little while?”

Ye Jingyan spoke calmly, ”Xiao Wu is only four years old, and a girl at that. This is the first time she’s ever met Young Master Xie, and they almost crashed into each other. How could they possibly play together?”

Ye Shixian said with a smile, ”Children don’t hold grudges. It was all a misunderstanding! Strangers at first, but friends after a second meeting.”

At that moment, several servants came rushing over.

”Oh my! Young Master, how did you run off to here?!”

Xie Yulin had come to the palace to watch the polo match today. Who knew he would sneak away? It had taken the servants ages to find him, and they were both panicked and relieved.

In the blink of an eye! He just vanished!

’If something had happened to him... all of our lives wouldn’t be enough to pay for it!’

Xie Yulin was always impatient with them. ”Alright, alright. I’ve been to the palace countless times. You think I’d get lost?”

He turned to leave, but when he saw Xiao Wu still nestled in Ye Yunfeng’s arms, he immediately frowned.

”Didn’t you say she was going to play with me? Why isn’t she coming?”

A clear, gentle, and calm voice suddenly spoke up.

”My apologies, Young Master Xie. Xiao Wu is shy around strangers. It’s best if we let it be.”

Xie Yulin followed the voice and saw a gentle, beautiful, but unfamiliar face.

He was relentless. ”So what if she’s shy? Usually, tons of people want to play with me but don’t even have the right!”

His words dripped with arrogance.

Many people nearby were looking over, but not a single person spoke up.

Because no one was willing to offend Xie Yulin.

Not only was he the eldest legitimate grandson of the Xie Family, but his birth mother was also the reigning dynasty’s Princess Huan Ning.

Born into nobility and thoroughly doted on, it was only natural for him to develop such a personality.

”As long as you let her play with me, I’ll let the previous matter slide!” Xie Yulin declared shamelessly.

The corners of Ye Chutang’s lips curved, a hint of a mocking smile flashing in her eyes.

’He was clearly the one who did wrong, and he was the one who almost hurt someone. Yet in the end, he could still use that charitable tone to say something like that.’

’Marquis Zhongyong has truly raised a fine grandson.’

...

”Ah-CHOO!”

Xie Anbai let out a huge sneeze, and even his forehead felt a little numb.

Shen Yanchuan had been leaning back against the carriage wall. Hearing the noise, he didn’t even open his eyes and said flatly, ”Get out.”

Xie Anbai: ”...”

”I just sneezed. Do you have to be like this?” Xie Anbai was in disbelief. ”Can we even be brothers anymore?”

Shen Yanchuan: ”If you don’t want to be, that’s also fine.”

Xie Anbai felt like he was about to cough up a mouthful of old blood.

He realized he could never win against Shen Yanchuan in this regard.

’Whatever. Beggars can’t be choosers. Who’s to blame but me for bumming a ride in his carriage?’

He pretended he heard nothing and lifted the curtain to look outside. ”Right, we’ll definitely run into my dad at the palace today. When that happens, you—huh?”

He sat up straight, peering ahead, and said with some uncertainty, ”Is that Doctor Ye and Little Point? Why are they with my big brother’s little brat?”

Shen Yanchuan’s eyelashes twitched, and he opened his eyes.

Xie Anbai got a clearer look and cursed under his breath, ”It really is them!”

’That stinking brat Xie Yulin is spoiled rotten. He loves to stir up trouble wherever he goes. And this time, he actually picked a fight with Doctor Ye—’

Suddenly, a thought struck him. He turned his head to look at Shen Yanchuan and jerked his chin.

”Hey, I remember you said last time that your injury hasn’t healed. Not going to go say hello to Doctor Ye?”

...

Ye Chutang shifted her gaze and asked, ”Xiao Wu, do you want to go play with Young Master Xie?”

Xiao Wu immediately shook her head forcefully.

’I want to stay with Big Sis, Third Brother, and Fourth Brother!’

Ye Chutang gave Xie Yulin a slight smile. ”As you can see, Young Master Xie, Xiao Wu doesn’t really want to go.”

How could Xie Yulin possibly let it go at that?

He had been spoiled since childhood, and no one had ever defied his wishes. But today he was repeatedly rebuffed, so of course he wasn’t going to accept it.

”Then just ask a few more times! Ask until she says yes!”

Ye Yunfeng was absolutely furious. ”You—”

Ye Chutang took a step forward, partially shielding him and Xiao Wu, her expression growing a little colder.

”She said no, which means no. You could ask a hundred more times and the answer would be the same. Besides, Xiao Wu just recently caught a cold. Although she’s mostly better now, it’s best we don’t risk passing it on to Young Master Xie.”

Of course, Xie Yulin wouldn’t believe her excuse, because he wasn’t even listening to her words.

”I don’t care! I want her to play with me!” Xie Yulin said, and then actually rushed forward, reaching out to grab Xiao Wu.

However, before his hand could touch her, a reprimanding voice called out.

”Xie Yulin! What are you doing!”

When Xie Yulin heard that voice, he trembled all over. He turned to see who had arrived and a rare look of panic appeared in his eyes.

”U-Uncle?”

He wasn’t afraid of his grandfather, nor his parents, but he was terrified of this particular uncle who never played by the rules.

Xie Yulin immediately tried to defend himself. ”Uncle, I wasn’t doing anything! I just wanted to ask her to play with me, is that so wrong?”

Xie Anbai’s expression was stern.

Before he could speak, another detached and chilly voice interjected.

The curtain was lifted, revealing a handsome, refined, and noble face.

Shen Yanchuan said coolly, ”She was sick just a few days ago. If she catches a chill from the wind again, who will be responsible?”

As he spoke, he looked at Xiao Wu, and his usually cold and indifferent gaze softened with a rare gentleness.

”Xiao Wu, come here.”
