Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons

Chapter 1284: Chapter 1284 - Taming the Old World - Shadow Dragons - 15 End

Deep within the dark confines of the quasi-adamantium dome, the central mind of the corruption registered a distinct shift.

The purple dragon, the ancient consciousness that had plummeted to this world after losing most of its god-like power and had concealed itself within the densest fragment of its central crystal core, felt a new sensation.

This was the same guiding voice that had meticulously steered Selthia through the shadows for years.

Now, it detected an unfamiliar pulse filtering upward through the quasi-adamantium flooring of its makeshift prison.

Selthia had secured the Shadow Core...

Her surviving army had successfully ripped the prize from the southern guardian of Yino.

The overarching communication network remained severed. However, this incoming pulse was not a line of code meant to transmit tactical orders or spoken words. It was only raw, unfiltered shadow power.

Ren’s star-shaped prison functioned through precise mana interference. The specific vibrational frequencies of the five elemental cores he had embedded into the surrounding pillars perfectly canceled out the entity’s own broadcast. That jamming field effectively severed the code flow, leaving the purple dragon deaf, mute, and entirely incapable of directing its beasts across the continent. It also blocked the entity from extracting draconic power from the unique runic formations housed within its own stolen cores.

That forced silence was the exact reason Selthia had fought so poorly today, stumbling through her sieges with uncharacteristic indecision without her master whispering in her ear.

But this new sensation bypassed the runic code blockade. It operated on a fundamentally different frequency.

The purple dragon had immediately understood the irony of Ren’s design that accursed day. The boy had weaponized his nourishment, utilizing the entity’s own elemental food source as an asphyxiating blanket.

But the five blocking arrays were specifically tuned to smother the five common elements: fire, water, earth, wind, and wood. That precise calibration still prevented the internal cores from generating the massive power required to sustain the mutant five-headed Hydra form. That specific draconic energy was still off, smothered within the confines of the heavy metal walls and the counter frequency.

However, the underlying ethereal energy grid remained intact. That foundational network did not rely on the complex transmission of commands currently being jammed by the pillars.

And therein lay the microscopic fracture in Ren’s brilliant trap... Shadow and light mana.

The five-point suppression field was perfectly calibrated for the common elements. The Shadow Core that Selthia had just fed into the network was not among them.

Its dark resonance was absent from the blocking array’s coded parameters.

Consequently, Ren’s cage barely registered the incoming shadow energy.

The dark ether bypassed the interference, bleeding seamlessly through the underground grid and pooling directly into the trapped mutant dragon.

The mechanical abomination, reduced to a headless stump after the array melted its five Hydra maws, was still a Diamond-rank vessel. As the dense shadow energy flooded its system, the creature experienced a sudden surge in raw vitality.

The malformed neck stumps twitched. The beast strained against its limits, its corrupted flesh convulsing wildly as it attempted to force the five dissolved heads back into existence.

The effort ultimately failed...

The suppression field, while blind to the shadow element, still applied enough pressure on the other core frequencies to prevent a full regeneration. Furthermore, the physical Shadow Core was not localized within the dome to anchor the new flesh.

Instead, a single, malformed secondary head managed to push its way out of the scarred tissue. It was twisted, disproportionate, and incomplete, barely able to sustain its own weight.

It was a small upgrade. Yet, it was an upgrade nonetheless.

????

A cold spark of hope ignited within the purple dragon’s crystalline consciousness.

A glimmer of hope.

And yet, he felt annoyed...

Deeply annoyed.

That hope was instantly swallowed by an ocean of profound, ancient fury.

These wretched humans... These fleeting vermin who, what felt just like yesterday for him, had been crawling through the cracks of a world he himself had lent them, had been helplessly crawling through the cracks of a broken world; cracks the entity itself had graciously provided.

And they had dared to imprison him... Him!

They had dared to lock him in a cage.

As if he were a child being punished, shoved into a corner with a cage of cheap metal as his penance. The indignity of it burned him just as fiercely as the interference that prevented him from shattering such an archaic construct.

They would pay for this...

THEY WOULD PAY IN BLOOD!

Fueled by the surge of shadow energy, the mutant dragon resumed its excavation.

The artifacts’ metallic claws tore into the bedrock with renewed vigor. The half-mechanical beast chewed through the earth, gaining ground in its escape tunnel at a pace that thoroughly shattered Julius’s conservative projections.

The Vanguard could not keep him buried here forever.

Sooner or later, the purple dragon would carve a path to freedom. It would breach the royal castle’s vault, carrying the three keys already secured within its core, and claim the ultimate prize it had coveted since the very beginning.

It only needed to keep digging.

It only needed to be patient...

And when compared to the laughably brief lifespans of the humans above, the entity possessed all the time in the world.

????

Some miles away, at the other side of the massive fissure dividing the sister cities, Ren was preparing for another deployment.

He intended to fly south and reinforce the third front. His core was aching, drained from the grueling effort of felling the Dark Guardian and navigating the shadow ruin, but he still had enough ether in reserve to tip the scales.

He stood surrounded by his dedicated support team. Luna, Larissa, and Selphira were ready too, accompanied by their specialized healers, royal guards, and the ever-present maid. The group operated with a quiet, practiced synergy, ready to follow him back into the meat grinder without a single word of complaint.

Just as Ren stepped forward to signal the departure, a messenger bird materialized in a burst of light, dropping a small scroll into his hand.

The southern Vanguard was already returning...
