Weakest Beast Tamer Gets All SSS Dragons

Chapter 1271: Chapter 1271 - Taming the Old World - Shadow Dragons - Reinforcements - 4

A tense defensive period passed for the city... Then, the mutants finally gave Victor exactly what he wanted.

They launched their full assault.

Over two hundred giant beasts, representing the entirety of the corruption’s local vanguard, charged the inner wall simultaneously. Their singular intention was to tear the masonry down in one massive, synchronized push. The ground literally shook under the weight of the coordinated stampede.

But Victor dropped from the sky like a falling meteor.

He landed dead center in his designated sector and immediately began a brutal massacre. Dozens of mutants were crushed by his winged Qilin and the razor-sharp rocks he forced out of the soil within a matter of minutes. He became a hurricane of stone and power right in the heart of the monster tide, tearing them apart on the surface and even devastating the ones attempting to dig underground.

This was exactly the caliber of warfare he had craved; intense, bloody, and carrying the highest possible stakes.

Yet a single warrior could not secure such a vast expanse of territory.

The inner wall still spanned a massive distance, and the tide crashed against every section at once.

Victor dominated his specific zone, but there were other critical points...

Arturo himself stepped away from his logistical coordination for a brief moment, diving into the fray at another vulnerable section. He applied his own considerable power to plug the most urgent breach, mimicking Victor’s aggressive defense. That left two zones successfully covered.

However, two more sectors remained heavily compromised.

There were two specific stretches of the wall where the wave of giant mutants slammed into the defenders without anyone of sufficient caliber present to halt their momentum. The hundreds of Gold-rank tamers in those spots held on with everything they had, but they were beginning to buckle under the sheer physical weight of the Platinums.

Arturo, simultaneously fighting and running mental calculations, felt a cold dread wash over him as he watched those two fronts edge toward a catastrophic break, lacking the manpower to reinforce them.

Fortunately, salvation arrived at the perfect moment.

Taro and Julius touched down.

The two specialized earth users, having just completed their aerial transit, firmly planted themselves in the middle of those compromised zones and immediately stabilized the collapsing stone.

Four major sectors were now fully secured. The entire wall boasted a highly capable elite anchoring every critical chokepoint.

Furthermore, Wei had brought Min along too.

Instead of dropping the explosive jester in a stationary position, Wei kept Min seated on his winged beast and flew him in continuous laps around the entire city perimeter. The young master of vapor detonations unleashed his power wherever the pressure spiked, supporting every weakened front in rapid succession. He operated as mobile artillery, appearing exactly where a segment of the wall began to falter and instantly clearing the congestion with a massive blast.

”Room service!” Min shouted from the beast’s back, tossing another volatile payload down below. ”Fresh explosions for the whole city! Don’t fight over them, there is plenty to go around!”

♢♢♢♢

Arturo let out a breath, feeling his tension ease a fraction.

The overall defense had stabilized. Between Victor, himself, Taro, Julius, Min’s now airborne artillery thanks to Wei, and the thousands of Gold tamers holding the trenches, the capital was no longer on the verge of shattering.

They were successfully containing the surge. They were holding their ground.

The crisis was far from over, however.

Arturo, possessing the unique ability to view the entire strategic board, could clearly see a looming disaster that no one else, currently blinded by the adrenaline of combat, stopped to consider.

There was nobody stationed here capable of incinerating the monster corpses.

That specific detail twisted his stomach into knots.

Up north, Liora was tasked with scouring the remains too. Down south, the academy directors wielded their Will-o’-wisps and spiritual fire, effectively severing the enemy’s cannibalistic supply line even if slower. But inside the capital, among the thousands of assembled defenders, there was not a single tamer possessing the spiritual fire required to prevent the horde from feeding on their own dead.

The Vanguard could kill the beasts. They could slaughter dozens, even hundreds.

But every mutant that fell simply remained on the battlefield. When the defenders’ mana pools inevitably began to run dry, and they eventually would, the corruption would have an all-you-can-eat banquet waiting for them.

The surviving monsters would gorge on their fallen kin, replenish their energy reserves, jump in rank, and from the shattered remains of their defeated army, an entirely new legion would rise. Hundreds of empowered beasts, reborn from the husks of the creatures they had just slain.

The city could survive this initial wave.

But if they failed to get a method to eliminate the bodies, this immediate victory would only plant the seeds for their subsequent annihilation.

Arturo launched another attack, plugging a minor gap in the wall, and as he did, his mind raced to formulate a solution to the grim reality.

They desperately needed spiritual fire.

And they did not have enough.

But that was not the entirety of the problem...

The next crisis was literally marching their way; the hundred high-tier beasts Selthia had redirected from the lost northern front were closing the distance fast.

Once they arrived, the precarious equilibrium Arturo had fought so hard to establish could easily shatter. Victor, Julius, Taro, Min, and the hundreds of Gold tamers were now just containing the current swarm. Two hundred and twenty to forty was the ceiling of their current defensive capacity. Three hundred was an entirely different nightmare.

However, the message he received moments ago had steadied his racing heart.

In fact, that message was the exact reason Arturo had dared to send reinforcements south despite the escalating chaos in the capital. It provided a crucial piece of intelligence that fundamentally altered his calculations, granting him the logistical confidence to risk weakening one front to sustain another.

He did not voice this revelation out loud, as there was no time for explanations, but he clung to that hidden hope while continuing to direct the defense.
