Myths Reawakened

Darienne slammed the table and interrupted the escalating tension between Wayne and Filomina. They were going to horny jail. “I don’t believe it. I watched you grow up. Even though you’re extraordinarily talented, and the goddess felt compelled to resort to such lowly tricks to win you over as a subordinate god, the timeline is all wrong. Isn’t it too early to invest—no, to go all in?”

Early? The Goddess of Moonlight is already late!

Wayne pecked Filomina on the lips. No wonder Darienne always lost in card games. It would be stranger for her to win when she had such impaired judgment.

“Speak!”

“What should I say?” he responded with a smile. “Master Darienne, the Goddess of Moonlight believes me valuable enough to cater to, while you disagree. We’d know once we test it, right?”

“What are you gonna do?” Darienne summoned White Night Creed and held it before her chest. “I’m warning you. You should respect your master.”

How pure of you!

“Pull your head out of the gutter. The test I’m talking about is this...”

Balling one hand into a fist, Wayne unfolded his vitality domain from his feet and dragged everyone in the room into the pale world.

A vitality domain and a vitality field were night and day. The former was real, while the latter was fake. The moment Darienne was inside the domain, she noticed the difference.

“You...” Her eyes widened. “You’ve become a demigod?”

“Yeah.”

“...”

Wayne ignored Darienne’s shock and said to Filomina in his arms, “I was going to surprise you, but this isn’t too bad, either. Get up for now. I’ll fight the Moonlight Knight to make up for shocking you.”

Filomina rose to her feet proudly. They all said that she was a fool for giving herself away to a scumbag, but who was laughing now? The first and only man she had ever set her eyes on turned out to be the most extraordinary in the Chosen Land. She hadn’t lost anything. She had a better eye for people than the goddesses.

Wayne patted her on the backside to make her move a little away. With one hand on his hip, he curled his fingers at Darienne. “Come. I’d let you shoot a hundred arrows first. If you make me bleed, it’ll be my loss.”

“This is your domain. If you don’t want me to hit you, I can’t.” Darienne gnashed her teeth together, condemning him for cheating.

“You’re a demigod with a divine artifact. The domain’s rules won’t be so stringent for you... Fine, it’s better to be fair. I don’t want you to look for excuses after losing.”

He waved at Galen, having her expand her vitality field. At the same time, he reined in his domain.

A false world of silver glaciers expanded and swept Wayne and Darienne into it. Without a word, Darienne shot an arrow at his head. Her archery was undeniably masterful, and she never missed what she had aimed at. With White Night Creed, she could often tip the odds.

The silver arrow hit Wayne in the head, the arrowhead protruding from the back of it.

He cocked his head. The arrow turned into silver moonlight and slowly melted into his body.

This wasn’t the Book of Greed’s doing. He had acquired too much knowledge lately. His knowledge of Moonlight, in particular, was beyond vast. To Darienne and White Night Creed, he wasn’t the Goddess of Moonlight, but he wasn’t far off.

The differences between demigods could be shockingly great.

His overwhelmingly vaster knowledge allowed him to stand and tank Darienne’s attack without any harm.

Darienne cursed silently. Wayne’s unwavering composure and ease of offsetting her attacks made her feel like she was facing a subordinate god of the goddess.

“This can’t be. It’s only been so long...”

She thought back to last year, when Wayne still called her ‘master’ and ‘Lady Knight’ while learning archery from her. It had barely been twelve months.

Shaking herself out of her reverie, she clutched White Night Creed and nocked arrow after arrow, using every trick she had learned in her life to pelt Wayne with a flurry of attacks. The stormy barrage embodied her brute-forcing style.

Later, the woman in a white suit squatted down in a corner with her hands on her head, hiding her face between her knees. Wayne had beaten her so thoroughly that her confidence crumbled.

In fact, Wayne hadn’t raised a hand at all. He had simply stood there and taken all the arrows Darienne shot at him without dodging or fighting back. The only time he raised his hand, it was to take control over White Night Creed.

Then this happened.

“Oh, whose White Night Creed is on the floor? Darienne, look. Isn’t this your bow?”

Wayne placed White Night Creed at her feet, trying to comfort his card buddy. However, she looked up with reddened eyes while worrying her bottom lip, paying the bow no attention.

Traitor!

Wayne crouched down beside her and put an arm around her shoulder, coaxing her, “Alright. Stop being depressed. Look at you. You act like I just beat you up!”

“Hmph!”

“Take White Night Creed. The Moonlight Knight I know is strong and heroic. She’s only ever been the one to bully others. She isn’t one to shed tears.”

“Hmph!”

Darienne wiped away the tears that were about to overflow. The traitor could not be forgiven. She refused to pick up the bow.

“Darienne, people are different. If you compare yourself to me, the difference will—”

“I’m not listening,” she interrupted. “You don’t sound genuine at all. You won’t even call me ‘master’.”

“Master Darienne.”

...That’s so easy that it doesn’t feel like an achievement.

Wayne picked up the bow and shoved it into her hand, tightening his arm around her shoulder. “Rest assured,” he whispered. “Given our relationship, I’ll consider you having completed your oracle.”

“What? Do you find it so beneath you to sleep with me?” The mention of the oracle aggravated Darienne. Since she couldn’t blame her faith, she put the blame on Wayne instead. “I’ve slept with my fair share of young men like you. At least eight hundred, if not a thousand. It’ll be over after I close my eyes and lie back. I’m not afraid of it.”

Wayne nodded with understanding.

“Yes, it’ll be over if you just close your eyes and lie back. The fact that you can say that proves that you aren’t boasting. Indeed, you’ve bedded at least eight hundred men, if not a thousand.”

Darienne was confused. She had educated herself somewhat, so she quickly detected the mockery. Sending White Night Creed to the void, she glared at Wayne.

“You said that you would consider me having completed the oracle. No takebacks.”

“Indeed. I would say the same to the Goddess of Moonlight.”

“Let me be upfront. I’m not afraid of you. I only agree not to sleep with you because I want you to keep your promise!”

“Yeah, you’re a good woman, and I’m a lecher.” Wayne patted her on the shoulder. “Cheer up. Your low morale will transfer your luck to me. Then you’re going to lose more card games.”

“Impossible. I never lost!” Darienne recovered her gusto. Slapping the hand on her shoulder away, she shot to her feet and declared, “I’m setting up the card table. Today, I’m going to—”

Wayne was about to nod when she stopped talking. He urged, “Go on. How many tables are you going to flip today?”

“There’s still one thing I find strange. I forgot about it because I was so angry at you.” She put her arm around his shoulder stiffly, her brows furrowed. “Galen told me that the Goddess of Darkness sent Her Holy Maiden and chosen knight to seduce you, and you, a pervert, submitted immediately. You were slept into submission.”

“That’s not what Galen said...”

“Doesn’t matter. Same difference,” Darienne said. “It’s because Darkness has sent a Holy Maiden and a chosen knight that the goddess sent me to seek out Galen in Londan. It’s to match Darkness’s offer, isn’t it?”

That’s outdated. The goddess has taken the matter into Her own hands.

Wayne gave the correct answer in his head. Ines hadn’t told the truth. It might be her attempt to save face, or, more likely, She was trying to lower Kaleb and Siluk’s bottom line gradually, forcing them to match Ines’s offers due to the increasing sunk cost.

As expected of the disciplinary teacher. She was even manipulating the other goddesses.

Since Wayne was a tool in this game, he swallowed his anger and gave Ines a silent thumbs-up. Ines had not lied, at least not on one thing—indecisiveness would only lead to failure, so She would not regret Her decision after She made it!

Wayne reaffirmed his resolution to be the Darkness Knight. He felt like he was falling for the goddess.

Incredible. He thought he had reached peak scumminess, but it turned out that there was a higher peak for him to reach.

“Speak!”

“You’re right. I’ve slept with the Darkness Knight and the Holy Maiden of Darkness.”

“That begs the question. I met the Darkness Knight in the Frozen Land...” Darienne looked both horrified and thrilled. “Wayne, did you sleep the Darkness Knight into submission, or is it the other way around?”

(⊙ˍ⊙)

You’re talking about Auston, aren’t you? If so, that’s terrible...

Wayne groaned. His imagination was so active that he immediately pictured two men engaged in a passionate fencing match. He shook his head violently, staring at Darienne’s frosty beauty with wide eyes.

Alright, he no longer remembered who Auston was.

“Cat got your tongue? You’re edging me here.” Darienne tightened her arms around his shoulder. Tell her already who subdued whom!

Wayne huffed. “Speaking of the Darkness Knight, let’s play cards in a different place. You’ll meet an old friend there. Perhaps you would restore your confidence at the card table.”

“Huh?” Darienne didn’t understand. She grumbled with a frown, “Damn riddler, stop speaking in riddles. Which of you—”

“Stop. There’s something else,” Wayne cut her off, annoyed. “You met Kristen a long time ago, and you know Galen. They look so similar. Why have you never told me?”

“Um...” Darienne blinked. “You may find it hard to believe, but there are a good number of female mages with the same hair color as Galen in the Divine Realm. They all have divine blood. I get used to that look and don’t really find the resemblance noteworthy.”

“Does the Goddess of Moonlight have a husband?”

“Shut up! Do not desecrate the goddess’s purity!”

As soon as she retorted, Wayne realized what was going on. He contacted Valkyrie and came to a conclusion.

But why would the Goddess of Moonlight create so many descendants of divine blood? To use them as substitutes when danger struck? If so, he would have to sever the ties between Kristen and the Goddess of Moonlight as soon as possible...

“Isn’t Senior an orphan...” he murmured. Given the Goddess of Moonlight’s current situation, his theory wasn’t impossible.

“Bastard, are you playing cards or not?”

“Let’s go then. Believe me. Today is your lucky day. You will win!”

He grabbed Darienne’s shoulders and got going. Although his harem was big, there were too few card players among them. In the end, he would have to trouble Vichy.

It would be fine. Vichy was too loyal to mind.
