Myths Reawakened

Girl, what do you have to be smug about? Senna glanced at Veronica dismissively. She was too prideful to argue with Veronica, much less lower her pride to compete with her over a man.

“Wayne, Mr. Moula requires you to become a knight in your own right as soon as possible. We haven’t trained together in a long time. Why don’t we work a few extra hours tonight in the grove?”

Before Wayne could respond, Veronica clutched his arm tightly. He said with a shrug, “I can’t use Elemental Mantra right now, so extra practice is pointless. Besides, I have to take care of Veronica tonight. We can train another day.”

Another day? Veronica gritted her teeth and huffed, “Wayne, I’m tired. Carry me to rest...” She resolved herself and spoke specifically to provoke Senna, right before Silvia, “I want to take a bath, but I can’t even lift a finger. You’re helping me.”

Silvia blushed. Young people these days are so bold. They should be more daring and more careless so that they can put a bun in the oven as soon as possible.

Senna felt nothing. She had never thought of breaking up Veronica and Wayne, nor did she have any desire to monopolize Wayne. She said bluntly, “I wish you both a happy marriage. Also, I’m not some shallow woman who craves love. That’s too childish. I’m very fulfilled spiritually, so I don’t need a soulmate. What I want is to engage in the most primal exchange with someone I like.”

Veronica and Silvia froze at the same time. A shameless woman was a woman without weakness. Veronica grabbed Wayne’s hand and gave her mother a pointed look, urging her to do something about her master.

Silvia shook her head helplessly. She couldn’t do anything. Rather than seeking her out, Veronica would be better off disciplining Wayne more like she had done with Auston.

Speaking of that bastard, Silvia felt like she was losing control over him lately.

Bang, bang, bang!

Wayne frowned at the knocks. Senna, on the other hand, perked up, sauntering up to the door to warmly invite the guest inside.

“Anastasia, what brings you here?” Senna said with unusual friendliness.

“Here to watch you act like a clown,” Anastasia said bluntly.

The two of them chatted and laughed like the closest friends.

Silvia had seen a similar magical puppet back in the divination place. She asked politely, “Who is this lady, Master?”

“Master?!” Anastasia exclaimed softly, studying Silvia for a moment before turning to Veronica, who bore some resemblance to her. In that instant, Anastasia’s dormant thoughts surged violently, as if she had found a reason to keep living.

This little cabin was a stage for such a good show. She hoped she had arrived at the right time and hadn’t missed anything.

“Allow me to introduce you. This is Anastasia, Holy Maiden of the Church of Darkness and an old acquaintance of mine,” Senna said. “This is Silvia, my incompetent student and Wayne’s master. That young lady is Veronica, Silvia’s daughter.”

“And Wayne’s fiancée!” Veronica declared possessively, asserting her claim.

How exciting!

Anastasia was thrilled, her thoughts unusually active. Since it was only polite to stay silent while watching a show, she quietly moved to the window of the cabin.

Please continue. Pretend that I didn’t exist.

Laugh while you can, Senna scoffed silently. Soon enough, you’ll be crying instead, so laugh more in the meantime!

As Wayne’s follower, Senna believed she had a good grasp of Wayne’s personality. Although he wasn’t human, he was still human. Anastasia was destined to fall.

Just wait for your downfall. There’s no hope!

The cabin fell silent. Silvia was flabbergasted. Why was the Holy Maiden of Darkness here? She should be seeking out the Darkness Knight...

Oh, right. She should be here. Silvia looked at how Anastasia was willingly playing prop and exchanging barbs with Senna. She couldn’t help but glance at her son.

Speak. Did you seduce another old woman? Or is this woman a crazy one who only pursues the most primal pleasure instead of love or marriage?

Just tell me the truth. Mom won’t get mad at you. Promise.

Veronica sucked in a breath, tightening her clutch on Wayne’s arm. “I’m tired. Hurry and take me upstairs to bathe—no, you’re bathing with me.”

Wayne was shocked. Was this still the tsundere girl he knew? Not even Vera was bold enough to speak like that.

He respectfully greeted Anastasia and scooped Veronica into a bridal carry, hurrying upstairs.

With the male lead exiting the stage, the show couldn’t continue. Disappointed, Anastasia said to Silvia, “Senna and I have been best friends for many years, so I know her well. You may not believe it, but she’s fallen in love with your student and is willing to be his exclusive mount.”

Silvia believed it. Why wouldn’t she?

Noting Silvia’s calm reaction and concluding that she clearly was aware of the unfortunate development, Anastasia asked with excitement, “What about you? What do you think of your master’s behavior? Do you approve of the relationship?”

“I do not!”

Silvia spoke decisively, glaring at Senna’s nonchalant face. She said to Anastasia, “Holy Maiden, please have some self-respect. You are the Church of Darkness’s Holy Maiden, and you have to maintain purity for the goddess. Wayne, my son, is still a child. Please refrain from making a move on him.”

Son?

Your son and daughter just went upstairs and...

Anastasia tried to work out the complex family tree, but failed. She blurted out, “Are you nobles?”

“Yes, what about it?”

“Nothing. I was too narrow-minded.” Anastasia clicked her tongue in amazement. “Please don’t misunderstand. I have no feelings for your son. As you said, I’m the Church of Darkness’s Holy Maiden and must maintain purity. Besides, given my current state, I’m destined to remain pure forever.”

She explained that she was here for Senna and had nothing to do with Wayne whatsoever. She would never fall for Wayne. Silvia needn’t worry.

Who knows? Master wasn’t like this before, and see how shameless she’s become!

Silvia said darkly, “I want written proof.”

Anastasia was stunned. What a family of weirdos. Muttering under her breath, she waved her hand in dismissal, unwilling to write something like that down.

You won’t even put it in writing, and you claim that you won’t make a move on him?

Silvia was certain that the old woman’s convincing act would soon drop, and just like Senna, she would spend all day orbiting her son.

Damn boy, why do you have to be so popular with women?

When Silvia was clearly still suspicious, Anastasia laughed with resignation. She was here for the entertainment, but she ended up becoming part of it.

She had a clear conscience and couldn’t be bothered with explaining further. She turned to Senna’s nosy mug and said, “It’s been a while. Come take a walk with me.”

“No, I’m tired. I want to go upstairs and take a bath.”

“...” x2

Bam!

Silvia shut the door in Senna’s face. Senna stood outside innocently, while Anastasia looked at her in amazement.

“I never imagined you’d make a move on your student’s son. I don’t understand it. It doesn’t seem like love, and it has nothing to do with him being the successor of the Nature Knight, either.”

Anastasia had lived for many years. She thought she had seen everything, but now had to admit her inexperience. She was curious: Senna should be the same type of person as her, caring only about magic and believing in no love. She certainly wouldn’t have abandoned her self-respect for a man.

Wanting to go upstairs and take a bath? Tsk, how could she say that out loud?

“Believe me, you’ll understand one day.” Senna smiled suggestively, walking toward the forest behind the cabin.

Her strange smile made Anastasia break into figurative goosebumps like she had ants crawling all over her. It had been a long time since she last felt this alive after losing her body.

“What do you mean, Senna?”

Anastasia caught up with Senna. Her instinct told her that if she didn’t get to the bottom of it today, she would regret it in the future. Why would that happen when she was going to die? She didn’t understand, but a legendary mage’s intuition shouldn’t be dismissed. She had overcome many a crisis thanks to it, so there had to be something hidden under Senna’s strange smile.

“Anastasia, you once called me arrogant and mistrustful. Aren’t you the same? Heh, I only said something casually, and you’re already scared.”

They strolled through the forest. Nearby pixies scattered, each finding a hiding place and quickly disappearing.

At this moment, Senna received a mental message from Wayne. She frowned and asked, “Anastasia, does the Moonlight Knight have any hobbies?”

“Hobbies?!”

“She’s been in the Frozen Land for many years. She can’t just stand around doing nothing every day. She needs something to pass the time, right?”

“Yes, all three knights enjoy playing cards.”

...What kind of hobby is that? Absurd.

Senna wanted to find out more, but she followed the orders given to her. “What kind of game does she play? Who does she usually play cards with?”

“Anything. She has a serious addiction and isn’t picky about the particular games. Usually, she played with the other two knights, and sometimes she asked me to join. Not now, though. The seal is on the verge of breaking, so she’s quit her hobby.”

Anastasia added curiously, “Why did you ask?”

“What a coincidence. I love playing cards, too,” said Senna.

“Forget it. Lady Darienne... well, how should I put this? Although she has excellent skills, she’s a bit of a sore loser. When she gets upset, she’ll flip the table.”

“And she curses!”
