Myths Reawakened

“Bastard! Pervert!”

“Creep! Trash! Shameless...”

In the bedroom, Veronica wrapped herself in the blanket like a cocoon. What happened last night replayed vividly in her mind as she cursed the scumbag for deceiving an innocent girl.

Typical tsundere. She was never in the wrong; it was always Wayne’s fault.

“Okay, okay. My bad. I made a mistake and won’t ever do it again. Happy now?”

Her vocabulary was so limited that Wayne grew increasingly excited. To avoid hurting her further, he interrupted her spiel, reaching out to pull the blanket away when the tsundere refused to leave its cover.

“Mmm—”

“Let go.”

“I won’t!”

With them yanking the blanket on both sides, it eventually tore in the middle under the strain.

Veronica’s face was bright red. Stammering, she used her half of the blanket to cover herself. “Bastard, you yelled at me and tore the blanket.”

“Um, there’s always force and counterforce. You’re half responsible.”

“I don’t care. It’s all your fault.”

Wayne shrugged, suspecting that Veronica was referring to something other than the blanket. If she was talking about the other thing that had been torn, he had indeed been impulsive.

The fourteen vengeful spirits had deeply affected him. Since they were Holy Maiden candidates just like Veronica, he kept thinking about her, and in a moment of passion, he lost control. His gun went off.

Since their bits rubbing wasn’t new, Veronica hadn’t expected him to go all the way, and...

Wayne admitted his guilt, but he shouldn’t be the only one blamed. In the subsequent rounds, he had been the passive party.

He kept his thoughts to himself, of course. While speaking secondhand sweet words to Veronica, he picked her up in a bridal carry and strode toward the bathroom. Clutching half the blanket, she covered her flushed face, kicking her feet and demanding the scumbag put her down this instant.

She wasn’t going anywhere today. She was going to stay in bed.

“That’s not a good idea. You haven’t finished yesterday’s assignments, and Master Senna will be here soon. You don’t want her to find out, do you?”

The skilled dragon tamer he was, Wayne hit the tsundere’s weakness, prompting her to immediately give up resisting, allowing him to carry her into the bathroom.

“Sorry to keep you waiting, Master Senna.”

Wayne entered the living room and handed the draconic language tutor a cup of black tea. Senna noticed his pleased expression but didn’t think much of it, assuming that he was in high spirits due to the fourteen servants he had recruited.

It wasn’t until Veronica came downstairs in an awkward gait with an obvious afterglow that Senna realized what had happened last night.

Objectively speaking, the couple had crossed a line. This was her house, not a Lando family property.

Oh? Everything she owned belonged to Wayne because he was her faith, so by extension, her house also belonged to the Landos?

Fine, forget she said anything.

Veronica noticed Senna’s slight frown and realized that the older woman might have realized something. With a huff, she reached out and hooked her arm around Wayne’s.

Senna was speechless. What a childish girl. That was a sign of insecurity. She should grow up. If she had been the one to bed Wayne, she would’ve been perfectly composed the next day...

Senna interrupted her own thoughts. She shouldn’t be making comparisons. Pretend she hadn’t thought anything.

She looked at Wayne and found that he was coaxing Veronica with sweet words so saccharine that they were nauseating, his expression unbothered. Perhaps he had honored his promise by not listening to her thoughts, or perhaps he had heard it but chose not to react, feigning ignorance.

Say something. Why are you silent now? Even mocking me will be better than saying nothing.

Senna felt an intense jealousy. No matter if Veronica was right or wrong, reasonable or unreasonable, Wayne was always willing to coddle her. But not Senna. She could only watch from the sideline.

As a mature woman, she quickly realized how inappropriate the thought was and hit the brakes, preventing a tragic plunge into the abyss.

“Veronica, did you finish yesterday’s assignments?”

“Um...” Veronica’s face stiffened. The home run last night had left her too riled up to remember her assignments, many of which were left untouched on the desk.

“Go do your homework. I’ll give you three hours. After that, we’ll begin today’s lesson. Also, you’re getting double the homework today.”

The words rolled off her tongue easily—this was exactly how she had punished Silvia decades ago.

Veronica couldn’t lift her head under the scolding. She tugged at Wayne’s sleeve discreetly, telling the scumbag to stop laughing and offer her a hand as her external brain. Come up with an excuse for her—anything would do.

“Master Senna, allow me to defend Veronica. She didn’t fail to do her homework. She was just too busy last night to do it,” Wayne said solemnly. “She was busy dating me. Before we knew it, we were already in bed together. We kept at it until—”

Who told you to say that?!

Veronica kicked the scumbag hard in embarrassment and anger. Unwilling to face Senna’s pointed smile, she fled upstairs in a panic.

Ten seconds later, she stood in the corridor and peeked down, seeing Wayne and Senna disappear into the dark domain.

The old hag was swaying her hips again!

Senna’s lesson continued for over half a month. During the time, she organized the textbooks on draconic language and told Veronica to hand the gift to Silvia.

Since it was Wayne’s order, Senna didn’t dare to hold back. She taught both students everything she knew.

Veronica didn’t like Senna. She always felt like the old hag was trying to seduce her fiancé and had some unspeakable arrangement with him, possibly crossing some boundaries, but she still called her ‘master’ respectfully when receiving the precious gift.

Knowledge was priceless. She had to be grateful.

Besides her work at the church and her lessons for Veronica, Senna spent her remaining time practicing her combos with Wayne. Facts proved that a dragon and its rider were a failed combination. Aside from looking impressive and intimidating enemies before battle, there was almost no practical value in combat.

However, Wayne refused to give up, insisting on becoming a dragonrider.

It was also meant to push Veronica. He was telling her how popular he was and how women flocked to him. Not even an old witch like Senna could resist his charm.

On the second of June, Senna saw them off as Wayne and Veronica boarded a plane to Londan. They carried much more luggage than they had come with, having reaped a substantial harvest.

Sir Wayne went hard on his subordinates. Just like the old nobles of Windsor, he worked the useful ones to death, thoroughly exploiting Senna over the past few days. For instance, he had asked for several of the form-fitting combat suits made of drake scales for their excellent practical effects.

Of course, given their master and servant relationship, ‘exploiting’ wouldn’t be the right word. Rather, Senna had been ambitious and proactively offered the gifts to her faith to please him. She was proving her loyalty!

She was a legendary mage and an old woman over a hundred years old—her actual age more than five times Wayne’s. She was thus a veritable goldmine with much to be extracted.

Through her, Wayne had obtained the faith formula for dark elves. Never mind where she got it or if she knew some high-ranking member of the Church of Darkness. The acquisition of the complete formula was the point.

The faith formula of Death would be more difficult to obtain. According to High Prophet Tubert, the Life Alliance had once consisted of all of the five major faiths. After splitting and reorganizing, only Nature, Sun, and Moonlight remained.

Elves could no longer be perfect as a result, and they couldn’t communicate with nature efficiently.

At the Church of Darkness, some dark-skinned elves remained active. They were few and far between, but not extinct. Meanwhile, the Church of Death had overhauled the existing framework and erased the elf formula. Thus, there were no longer any Death elves in the Chosen Land.

The Church of Death’s transformation was more thorough, which was evident in the titles.

The Church of Darkness maintained a similar framework with priests and high reverends, while the Church of Death had adopted the Church of Heavenly Father’s system of bishops and archbishops. The same was true of the other positions.

Senna couldn’t find the formula for Death elves, but as a legendary mage, she had a clever mind and a wealth of knowledge, making her better at solving formula problems than Filomina.

Not only did she optimize Filomina’s formula, revising it and integrating it, but she also worked tirelessly to create a formula to transform into a Death elf on her own. Moreover, she had used her thoughts to forge dozens of magic stones capable of storing mana as gifts to her faith.

She was truly outstanding!

Admittedly, the newly created formula wasn’t perfect. The energy conversion rate and the efficiency in communicating with nature fell short of the ideal picture Tubert had painted. However, having all five faiths’ formulas for elven transformation did improve Wayne’s elven form significantly, making it far more powerful.

Wayne was patient. He would make do with what he had now. He gave Senna his phone number and told her to keep optimizing the formula, contacting him immediately if she made progress.

Meanwhile, the Holy Maiden selection neared its end. Desiree, the Francan girl who had been Wayne’s neighbor, advanced to the final round. With support from higher-ups like Tubert and Senna, plus the Pope’s recent concessions, Desiree had a great chance of becoming the new Holy Maiden.

Wayne’s careless prediction came true. His once neighbor might just become the next Holy Maiden.

If Desiree succeeded, she would become another Holy Maiden from Franc after Flora. Franc was truly blessed.

Out of his distaste for the church leadership, Wayne couldn’t care less about who the next Holy Maiden would be. The candidates were all excellent. Veronica, Ottilia, and Regina could all become the Holy Maiden, and in a fair competition, it would’ve been difficult for Desiree to defeat them. At the end of the day, the Holy Maiden was nothing but a puppet with a pretty face, chosen in a power struggle. It was a good thing that Veronica didn’t win the selection.

In any case, Wayne ended up departing for Londan in June. On one hand, it was because there was so much he could extract from Senna; on the other hand, it was because May thirtieth was Veronica’s birthday.

If they had returned to Londan before Veronica’s birthday, the birthday celebration would have been quite the spectacle. The tsundere Dragonblood wouldn’t flaunt the fact that she had bedded the scumbag, but she would give hints, making Vera realize what had happened.

That would be bad. Wayne hadn’t made enough progress with Vera. She might withdraw from the competition in a moment of heartbreak.

Thus, he used the excuse of wanting to celebrate Veronica’s birthday alone to keep her in Ostarrichi. She didn’t question it, her mind full of his sweet words. In her happiness, they rolled on the bed a few more times.
