Chapter 399: Chapter 399: Head of the Xiao Family

”Madam, the Master requests your presence!”

The maid bowed deeply as she spoke.

”The Master has finished his seclusion?”

Situ Yan’s eyes flashed with surprise, and then she headed towards the Xiao Family Hall.

In the hall of the Xiao Family, a middle-aged man sat leisurely sipping tea in a pear wood chair, dressed in a white practice outfit. With a square face, thick eyebrows, and a hint of stubble, he exuded an air of authority.

This man was none other than Xiao Ding, the Head of the Xiao Family, Situ Yan’s husband, and also Xiao Yifeng’s granduncle.

At this moment, Situ Yan slowly walked in, her gaze landing on Xiao Ding.

”How come you finished your seclusion so early?”

Situ Yan seated herself in front of Xiao Ding.

”I had a bit of a breakthrough, so I came out early. However, Madam, I heard that something happened recently. That guard of yours, Leng Mian, was stripped to a human skeleton. What’s going on?”

Xiao Ding put down his teacup and looked at Situ Yan.

”You’re quite up-to-date!”

A slight smile appeared on Situ Yan’s lips.

”What exactly did I miss during my seclusion?”

Xiao Ding looked at Situ Yan with a puzzled expression.

”That kid showed up!”

Situ Yan’s eyes narrowed, her voice grave.

”Which kid? Who?”

Xiao Ding was taken aback.

”Xiao—Yi—Feng!”

Swish!

As Situ Yan uttered those three words, Xiao Ding’s face suddenly changed, his pupils constricted, and a look of shock flashed across his eyes.

”How is that possible?”

”After ten years, he’s reappeared. Where is he now?”

Xiao Ding’s expression shifted rapidly, his eyes revealing a complex mix of emotions.

”In Tianhai!”

Situ Yan recounted all the events that had occurred previously.

After listening, Xiao Ding’s eyes tightened. ”I didn’t expect that after so many years, he would reappear. Now that he knows who killed his mother, I fear he won’t let it go so easily.”

”Even if he knows, what can he do? He’s not yet worthy to seek vengeance against me,”

Situ Yan’s eyes flashed with disdain, ”I’m more worried about what the old man will do once he finds out that this kid is still alive and has shown up.”

”It’s because father was still angered in his heart that he didn’t stop you from driving the mother and son away. As time went by, after their departure, he began to regret and feel guilty. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have left the Xiao Family and lived in seclusion. If he learns about all this, he might well return to the Xiao Family,”

Xiao Ding spoke in a deep voice.

”That’s why I absolutely cannot give him that chance; otherwise, who knows who might become the next Head of the Xiao Family.”

A fierce look crossed Situ Yan’s eyes.

”What do you plan to do?”

Xiao Ding’s gaze fixed on Situ Yan.

”I have my arrangements, but you should keep a close eye on your youngest brother. He’s already met that kid, and even warned me not to do anything, or he won’t stand by idly!”

Situ Yan said coldly, snorting.

”I understand!”

Xiao Ding’s eyes narrowed into slits as he stood up and left.

After Xiao Ding had left, Situ Yan’s maid quickly walked in and bowed, ”Madam, I just received a piece of news.”

”What news?”

”The Tianhai Dragon Soul Branch has been attacked. All the Dragon Soul members were injured, and Hei Shan, the captain of the Black Dragon Squad, was also severely injured,”

the woman reported.

”There’s actually such a matter? Who has the audacity to oppose the Dragon Soul?”

A look of astonishment flashed across Situ Yan’s eyes.

”According to the intelligence, the person is none other than Xiao Yifeng.”

”Xiao Yifeng?”

”Yes, it’s him. The Dragon Soul has already been alerted, and even the master from Hei Shan, Yanluo of the Dragon Soul Purple Dragon Guard, has appeared. It seems he intends to avenge his disciple Hei Shan!”

Situ Yan’s maid reported each detail.

”He really is brazen, arrogant, with no taboos!”

Situ Yan snorted coldly, ”The more he is like this, the sooner he will be destroyed!”

”Contact Mr. Yanluo for me!”

Light flickered in Situ Yan’s pupils as she spoke.

”Yes, Madam!”

The maid nodded in acknowledgment.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the sun set in the west, and night fell.

The imperial capital of Yanjing, in China, was plunged into a scene of dazzling neon lights and merrymaking.

In a private room of a restaurant in Yanjing, accessible only to the top elite, Situ Yan sat leisurely tasting a Bordeaux wine worth hundreds of thousands.

At that moment the private room door was opened, and Situ Yan’s maid led in a man with a chilling aura, none other than Yanluo, the master of Hei Mu.

”Mr. Yanluo!”

Situ Yan looked at Yanluo and revealed a slight smile.

”Madam Xiao!”

Yanluo looked at Situ Yan with a voice as cold as ice and an expressionless face.

”May I ask why Madam Xiao has summoned me?”

Yanluo asked in a deep voice.

”Mr. Yanluo, I called you here today because I want to discuss a matter.”

Situ Yan sipped her red wine and placed it on the table.

”Madam Xiao, please speak your mind.”

”I heard Mr. Yanluo’s disciple was severely injured by someone, and Mr. Yanluo is planning to seek revenge. I hope you can completely deal with the person who injured your disciple.”

Situ Yan’s lips parted slightly as she spoke.

A strange light flashed in Yanluo’s eyes, and after a moment’s flicker, he looked at Situ Yan, ”Is Madam Xiao using my hand to root out the problem once and for all?”

”It seems Mr. Yanluo already knows everything,” Situ Yan said, laughing lightly.

”I didn’t expect that kid to be Xiao Chen’s son!”

Yanluo continued, with a slight tightening in his eyes, ”Back then, Xiao Chen was outstanding and exceptional. At a young age, his Martial Arts Strength suppressed all the younger generation in the Chinese Martial Arts World.”

”And at that time, I had just stepped into the realm of Dark Energy, like an insignificant weed that nobody noticed. It’s been over twenty years, and now, I find myself bearing a vend or against his son.”

”Mr. Yanluo, that youngster dared to severely injure your disciple and even challenge the Dragon Soul. He deserves death!”

Situ Yan said coldly.

”Madam Xiao, as long as you can assure me that Elder Master Xiao won’t blame me for killing him afterward.”

Yanluo looked at Situ Yan indifferently.

”Don’t worry, that kid brazenly stormed into the Dragon Soul Branch and injured many Dragon Soul members. This is a provocation against the Dragon Soul. Even if you kill him, the elder master won’t say anything. Moreover, that kid no longer has any relation to the Xiao Family now,” Situ Yan stated calmly.

”In that case, you just wait for the news of that kid’s death,” Yanluo asserted in a chilly tone, then turned and left the private room.

Situ Yan picked up her wine glass and took a delicate sip.

”Madam, with Mr. Yanluo taking action, that youngster is as good as dead, and you can finally rid yourself of a major concern.”

The maid looked at Situ Yan with a hint of a smile.
