I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 279: Chapter 130 Sunless Travel: Planting the Sun (5k)

Wen Yan brought Zhang Laoxi’s soul body next door. He casually picked up a brick from the corner and smashed the glass of Zhang Laoxi’s house, then jumped in through the window.

Zhang Laoxi followed behind. He wanted to say that the door lock didn’t have poison on it anymore, but still didn’t say anything. Smash it then, whatever.

”What are you looking for?”

”Anything you made yourself, or something you’ve kept close to you for a long time. Basically, anything that’s connected to you. What do you have at home that fits? Hurry up and pick them out yourself, don’t waste time.”

Zhang Laoxi didn’t know what Wen Yan wanted to do, but he still rummaged around his house with Wen Yan.

They dug out a little Taoist robe, a turtle-shaped jade pendant, a wooden sword that looked chewed by a dog, and a box with a talisman in it, written in gold on silk cloth.

”Anything else? Best if it’s something supernatural, or strongly linked to you.”

After ten minutes, Wen Yan came rushing out of Zhang Laoxi’s house, arms full of stuff.

On the rooftop terrace next door, Pei Tugou poked his head out, looking at Wen Yan in utter confusion—he couldn’t figure out what kind of weird crap Wen Yan was up to, smashing the neighbor’s window in the middle of the night.

”Hey man, help me out. Zhang Laoxi’s about to die.” Wen Yan saw Pei Tugou and immediately waved at him.

Pei Tugou scratched his head. Already turned into a ghost and still not dead?

Thinking about it, Zhang Laoxi was at least a neighbor and had helped out before. If there was still a chance to save him, whatever, he’d lend a hand.

If he really was dead, then no rush—next time they found the killer, just take him out then.

Pei Tugou followed the outer wall down and came over to Wen Yan’s side.

A few buildings further west, Gauss also came out from the backyard holding his phone, with a confused look at Wen Yan, then at Zhang Laoxi—whose forehead had a talisman stuck on it, still in ghost mode.

Wen Yan ignored him and hurried back home.

When they got to the basement, Wen Yan took away the stuff set in the corner, pushed the shelves to the corner, and moved everything off the shelves.

Then he changed into his work clothes, strapped on the Chunjun Mace, tucked away the Blood Warm Jade and the Scorching Sun Jade, even hung the Everbright Lamp on himself, and called Feng Yao, letting Zhang Laoxi explain the situation himself.

He gave them some directions, and once everything was ready—

Wen Yan put the box on the shelf, right in the middle layer, against the wall—and suddenly a window opened up, looking like it led into a room.

Wen Yan took a glance, immediately took the box off the shelf, then looked at Zhang Laoxi.

Zhang Laoxi just needed one look and knew what this was for—and understood why Wen Yan said there was still time.

”That should be a room in Fuyu Temple. I drew my first Golden Talisman there.”

Wen Yan kept putting the little Taoist robe and the turtle-shaped jade pendant on the shelves, and every open window showed Fuyu Mountain.

The third time he opened a window, a flash of cold light appeared right ahead. The instant he saw it, Wen Yan’s hair stood on end and he quickly shouted—

”It’s me, Wen Yan!”

Before he even finished speaking, a small sword was already hovering in front of him, slowly spinning. Even without touching him, its sharp power made a stabbing pain between his eyebrows.

After ten or so seconds, a skinny old Taoist finally strolled over in no hurry from the distance.

The old Taoist looked at the window that seemed to open out of thin air in his room, then at Wen Yan through the window, and at Zhang Laoxi with the talisman on his forehead, his eyebrows tightly knit.

He’d never seen Wen Yan before, but he recognized Zhang Laoxi.

”What’s going on here?”

”Greetings, Third Great-uncle Master.” Zhang Laoxi offered a brief salute, then gave a quick explanation.

Third Great-uncle Master immediately understood—Wen Yan was using some wondrous item to open this window, trying to find Zhang Laoxi’s physical body.

”Nether Soul Realm, what kind of restless ghosts are these, getting bored of living, want to sunbathe or something?”

”Can people pass through this window? If we can see each other, might as well help out.”

Third Great-uncle Master braced himself on the window, and just as Wen Yan was about to offer a hand, he saw the old man’s body was still nimble, with a flexible waist—he slid right through the window and flipped to the ground.

The flying sword circled in midair, dropped into Third Great-uncle Master’s sleeve, and disappeared.

Wen Yan took the items off the shelf, then put the dog-chewed Wooden Sword on it. This time, the open window was pitch black, thick Yin Qi howling through it.

”That’s the place.” Zhang Laoxi immediately shouted.

As soon as he finished, the little sword shot out first, charging into the darkness. But in a flash, the sword hit what seemed like an impenetrable wall at the window’s edge, unleashing a cascade of sparks but couldn’t break through no matter what.

”So it really is the Nether Soul Realm.” Third Great-uncle Master’s face sank as he summoned back the flying sword.

”His physical body must’ve been dragged away by someone. Aside from sealing the portals, the only way into this Nether Soul Realm is to send the Yin God out of body. You two guard me—I’ll go have a word with the enemy.”

Wen Yan hurriedly stopped Third Great-uncle Master.

This Third Great-uncle Master was clearly a cultivator on the Flying Sword Path—extremely lethal, but definitely with some shortcomings elsewhere.

Wen Yan had actually thought about it before—in fact, once he learned about cultivation and flying swords, it was the first thing he wanted to get himself.

But then, people told him, the Flying Sword Path is seriously troublesome and burns money like crazy.

Especially in the early stages: cleaning it with dew and various materials daily, refining it with your blood and soul, needing all sorts of incense to nourish your mind—day in, day out, year-round with no break.
